The inlay runs straight along the length of the table with natural edges preserved at each end. The drawer face features knobs made of stacked Minerva Tobacco and Chocolate leathers; each knob is individually lathe-turned. Superficial metal knee brackets enhance the aesthetic of the table and are one-seventh its total height in accordance with the standards of classic architecture. Legs are fastened to the rails with handcut mortise and tenon joinery and feature a chamfered inside edge and a beaded corner on the outside edge. The top of the table is set slightly back on the table frame to allow for heavy wainscot or chair rail molding. The drawer is dovetailed throughout and partitioned into three vertical compartments. Each side is distinct in size, which embraces asymmetry in an otherwise rectilinear composition. The center tray is open and has an integrated leather upholstered pencil tray. Both left and right sides are further partitioned into large and small-lidded compartments. The drawer lids are crafted from walnut and feature an elliptical window for viewing drawer contents. The window also serves as a recess, allowing the handles to be more compact. The lid handles are inlaid and hand stitched with linen cord. An all-natural custom finishing oil is applied and allowed to mature for a period of 72 hours. A layer of handmixed wax is applied prior to the oil finish and buffed to a low sheen. The seat is wrapped in Minerva Tobacco and is inspired by British formal chair seats known as saddle seats. The edge of the seat has a crescent-shaped handhold. The underneath face of the seat has been carefully upholstered and set with traditional tacks in a geometric pattern, that is evocative of arts and crafts period furniture. The legs of the perch are designed similarly to legs of the table and feature handcut mortise and tenon joinery, a chamfered inside edge and a beaded corner on the outside edge. Legs are canted at a 3-degree angle and have a metal footrest 12 inches above the floor. The same metal knee bracket used on the desk is applied to the top of the leg at one-fifth the overall height of the perch. An all-natural custom finishing oil is applied and allowed to mature for a period of 72 hours. A layer of handmixed wax is applied prior to the oil finish and buffed to a low sheen. Each cross bracket is connected in length to the opposite side by tubular metal brackets and set with recessed shoulder bolts. The sling is supported across its length by a linear leather rib and held together by six leather corsets that are wrapped around the tubular metal brackets at the top.
