The hob sharpening machine applies the globally famous FANUC controller, linear motors and direct-drive motors; each axis can run simultaneously to get a high-precision performance. The Luren Precision-developed intelligent conversations window software supports complete machining procedure. Operator can follow the software instructions to input parameters. After setting up the grinding parameters, system will automatically generate the respective NC program and perform cutting tools sharpening task, which greatly increases the working efficiency. 2

4 Unit Introduction Unique Design Brilliant Performance Motor (Special components) For the gear tools with highprecision requirement, LHG applies high-precision linear motors and directdrive motors to sharpen the gear tools, on particular the large-lead-angle worm hobs. 5 Software Technology Innovative R&D Intelligent NC Technology Intelligent Software Technology The intelligent conversions window software developed by Luren Precision can help operator set the tools data and grinding parameters flexibly. After parameters setup is done, software will auto generate the complete NC program and guide operator to perform grinding work. LHG-3040 is developed mainly for the sharpening of hobs and shaper cutters. Hob cutters sharpening software interface Hob Data According to customer's workpiece specification to input hob's parameters, such as the diameter, number of flute, flute depth and lead angle, etc. Dressing Path Screen displays the dressing path and provides convenient curveadjustment ability to reduce the setting error of workpieces and grinding wheels. Shaper cutters software interface Data input According to customer's specification to input shaper cutter's parameters, such as the diameter, helical angle, face lead angle and rake angle, etc. 4

6 Machining Example The hobbing and shaping processes are common and important in gears manufacture. The procedure is to machine the gear profile by using the generating principle. After long-time cutting on the blanks, blade edges of both the hobs and shaper cutters are worn out, unable to machine gears with required precision. Operator then can use LHG-3040 to sharpen cutting tool's blade edges and regain the required precision level. Helical hob cutters Enable to sharpen high lead angle hob cutters to level AAA.
