2 About Us Rustins formulate and manufacture the finest range of wood finishes and speciality paints from our factory in London. Owned by the Rustin family since its founding in 1924, we research and develop new products using new materials and new technologies whilst maintaining our heritage of superlative customer service and dedication to quality. In addition to our range of traditional solvent based products, we have a growing range of high performance water-based coatings for wood and metal that are quick-drying and low VOC. In addition to the UK market, we export to more than 30 countries. In May 2013, Rustins Limited acquired Briwax. The Briwax range includes wax polish and sprays to restore, revive and keep all your wood furniture in pristine condition. Briwax original is ideal for woodcarvings and turned wood, for floors and skirting. It cleans and protects wood, metalwork even melamine. Briwax is available in clear, which maintains the natural colour of the wood, and 13 wood shades to stain and wax in one operation. Rustins Limited purchased Antiquax in December 2013 and is delighted to be the custodian of the respected Antiquax brand and products. The all British Antiquax range includes wood care featuring the handy 100ml tins of wax, furniture care including creams, wax and leather care, silver polish and the popular chandelier & crystal cleaner. 4 An exquisite range of polishes, oils and aerosols, blended from the very highest quality waxes and natural oils to clean, polish and protect your wooden furniture. original WAX PoLIsh Available in 100ml, 250ml, 500ml, 5L & 250ml aerosol Antiquax Original Wax Polish is a superlative wax polish blended from the finest beeswax and carnauba wax for use on all fine natural woods and antique pieces of furniture. Antiquax Original Wax Polish penetrates and nourishes wood. It enhances the grain and patina, whilst providing a lasting sheen with dust and fingerprinting resistance. How to use: Apply sparingly, using a lint free cloth, in a circular motion. Work well into the surface and allow to dry to a light haze. Remove by polishing in a circular motion using an Antiquax Polishing Cloth. NATURAL BeesWAX Available in 250ml Antiquax Natural Beeswax is based on pure natural beeswax for use on previously sealed surfaces and is made from the highest quality waxes to clean, polish and protect wooden furniture. How to use: Simply use a clean lint free cloth and apply the Beeswax in the direction of the wood grain where possible. To obtain a consistent finish, always wipe evenly, blending the Beeswax over the whole surface area. BRoWN WAX PoLIsh Available in 100ml, 250ml and 5L Antiquax Brown Wax is a solid wax based upon superlative natural waxes, specially designed to protect and nourish dark woods such as Mahogany, Dark Oak and Teak. It provides a lasting and durable wax sheen to craftsman standards. How to use: Apply sparingly with a lint free cloth working into and along the grain. Allow to dry to a haze and polish with an Antiquax Polishing Cloth, again, working along the grain to reveal the sheen. Repeat regularly to develop a fine patina and enhance the grain. LAveNDeR WAX PoLIsh Available in 100ml Antiquax Lavender Wax Polish is a superior polish containing a blend of natural waxes and essential oils to improve durability and protect all types of woods. It also contains an exquisite lavender fragrance. How to use: Apply sparingly, using a lint free cloth, in a circular motion. Work well into the surface and allow to dry to a light haze. How to use: Shake container thoroughly before use. Apply to a lint free cloth and work over the surface in a polishing motion. Allow to dry to a light haze then buff to a deep shine using an Antiquax Polishing Cloth. RING ReMoveR Available in 200ml Antiquax Ring Remover is easy to use and will gently remove ring marks from polished wooden surfaces, whilst leaving a pleasant citrus fragrance. How to use: Pour onto a lint free cloth and rub with pressure over the mark in the direction of the grain until the mark is removed. If the mark does not disappear apply more Ring Remover and repeat. Buff with an Antiquax Polishing Cloth and then wax if required. ChoPPING BoARD oil Available in 200ml Antiquax Anti-Bacterial Chopping Board Oil is a blend of natural plant oils to nourish and protect chopping boards and worktops. The oil penetrates the wood and dries to a clear finish that enhances the natural beauty of wood. Antiquax Chopping Board Oil is food safe and kills E-coli and MRSA on contact. How to use: Apply liberally with a lint free cloth, working with the grain of the wood. Wipe off any excess oil within three to five minutes. Apply the oil to new or bare wood three times initially. LeATheR soap Available in 100ml & 250ml Antiquax Leather Soap is a blend of traditional waxes specifically designed to clean and prolong the beauty of leather. How to use: Shake thoroughly before use. Apply onto a damp cloth or sponge, and work into the surface developing a weak lather. Remove excess and allow to dry. Polish using an Antiquax Polishing Cloth to restore the natural finish. Where serious deterioration has occurred, Antiquax Leather Cream should be considered. LeATheR CLeANeR Available in 250ml Antiquax Leather Cleaner is formulated for use as a general leather cleaner and is suitable for use on all leathers except Suede and NuBuck. This leather cleaning solution contains no solvents or abrasives, allowing it to clean leather safely without causing any damage, yet it is still capable of removing deeply ingrained dirt and grime. How to use: Shake bottle well and pour onto a sponge or cloth then work the cleaner into the leather cleaning in a circular motion. As the cleaner lifts the dirt from the leather, it will be absorbed by the foam created. After cleaning wipe any residues away. LeATheR Re-CoLoURING BALM Available in 250ml. Black, Cream and Dark Brown Antiquax Leather Re-Colouring Balm restores the colour to faded and worn leather by simply rubbing in with a soft cloth. It is suitable for use on all leathers except Suede and NuBuck. It re-colours areas that have been exposed to sunlight or direct heat, is ideal for colouring cat scratches, and re-colouring worn, dry and faded areas. How to use: Rub the balm into the leather in a circular motion and then wait for 5 minutes for the balm to properly penetrate the leather. Buff over with an Antiquax Polishing Cloth. 6

ChANDeLIeR & CRysTAL CLeANeR Available in 500ml Spray on and watch the dirt and dust fall off. Antiquax Crystal and Chandelier Cleaner is fitted with a special high capacity nozzle that allows the cleaner to spray further than conventional aerosols. This feature makes the process easier, faster and more economical. It also has a pleasant fragrance leaving fine and crystal cut glass surfaces with a streak free sparkling finish. How to use: Always switch power supply off at the mains. If application is located over carpets, or other decorative surfaces, place polythene sheet directly underneath the appliance then plenty of newspapers, old cloths etc on top of it to catch and absorb drips and product run-off. Shake can well, stand to one side and spray copiously. Allow to run off the appliance. Repeat if heavily soiled. Allow to dry naturally. Ensure any treated appliance is thoroughly dry before switching power on. MIRRoR & GLAss CLeANeR Available in 250ml Antiquax Mirror and Glass Cleaner is a product developed for fast and effective results. It has been formulated from carefully selected ingredients to keep your delicate glassware sparkling clean and smear free. It is also recommended for use on Formica and many other plastics, glazed ceramic tiles, and other reflective surfaces including stainless steel and chromium. How to use: Shake well before use. How to use: Place the un-opened sachet into a large plastic container in your sink. Put your tarnished items into the container making sure all the pieces touch each other. Add sufficient water to cover the items and leave for 5 minutes. Then just rinse in warm soapy water, and as you wipe each piece dry, you ll see it shine like new. 8

11 Indoor Wood Finishes DanishOil A unique formulation developed by Rustins that is suitable for all types of wood. It differs from Teak Oil in that it contains special ingredients to give it a low lustre finish. It is an easy to use wipe on finish, which brings out the beauty of the timber and gives a natural, open grained, soft lustrous finish. Ideal for all woods and is excellent on turned woodwork. Rustins Danish Oil conforms to The Articles in Contact with Food Regulations and to the Toys (Safety) Regulations 1995, BS:EN71 Part 3. Sizes: 250ml, 500ml, 1L, 2.5L, 5L Quick Dry Worktop Oil A quick drying wooden work surface treatment which nourishes and protects all types of timber. It has good penetration into all types of timber without leaving a film and its special properties make it highly resistant to water, alcohol and food stuffs. It is additive free and safe for use in contact with food. It forms a hard wearing finish making it suitable for kitchen work surfaces, chopping boards and interior wood work. 12 Indoor Wood Finishes Quick Dry Chopping Board Oil Plastic Coating A blend of natural plant oils to nourish and protect chopping boards and worktops. It has a clear finish to enhance the natural beauty of wood. The Oil contains the anti-microbial additive Eradibac with a slow release formula which provide protection against a wide range of bacteria including E-coli and MRSA. Size: 250ml Two-part clear cold cure lacquer for use on wood, hardboard, cork and plastic laminates. Extremely good adhesion, resistant to heat, solvents and abrasion. Can be burnished to a mirror like gloss or rubbed down to a smooth, satin finish with steel wool and wax. An excellent finish for marquetry as it does not darken light coloured veneers and does not yellow or craze on ageing. Hard-dry within 2 hours of application. Rustins Plastic Coating conforms to The Articles in Contact with Food Regulations. Sizes: 250ml, IL, 4L. Plus boxed starter pack. How to... DANISH OIL Preparation: The surface must be clean, bare and sanded smooth. Oily woods (e.g. Teak, Iroko) should be cleaned thoroughly with white spirit to help penetration and improve adhesion. Bare wood may be dyed with Rustins Wood Dye. The dye may also be added to Danish Oil but the colour will be a lighter shade. If a natural open-grain is not required use Rustins Grainfiller before oiling. Application: Using a clean soft cloth or brush apply liberally, then wipe off the excess after a few minutes. For a superior smooth finish the final coat may be applied using a plastic scouring pad, rubbing in the direction of the grain, wiping away the surplus with a soft cloth or paper towels. New or bare wood should be oiled 3 times initially. Re-Coating Time: Allow 4 to 8 hours between applications depending on the temperature and humidity. Maintenance: When applying to previously oiled wood, the surface should be cleaned and wax removed by using white spirit or Rustins Surface Cleaner. Wipe away the solution formed with clean paper towels prior to re-oiling. If the surface develops a slight gloss, this can be removed by rubbing with 9 grade 00 or 000 steel wool and either wax polish or white spirit finishing off with a soft cloth. Coverage: 1 litre will cover approximately 14 sq.m. with 1 coat depending on the absorbency of the wood. Hint.. Also suitable for indoor use, Rustins Outdoor Danish Oil is faster drying and gives the classic low lustre finish. See page 16 for more information. 12

13 Indoor Wood Finishes Quick Dry Clear Varnish Polyurethane Clear Varnish A clear hard wearing coating for all interior woodwork which has the least effect on the colour of the wood. Low odour, non-toxic and touch dry in 20 minutes; re-coatable in 2 hours. Clean brushes in water. Available in gloss, satin and matt finishes. Sizes: 250ml, 500ml, 1L, 2.5L, 5L Clear Varnish in gloss, satin and matt finishes. A tough and durable finish for all woodwork and cork. Apply 2-3 coats for the perfect finish. Re-coating time 2-8 hours. Can also be applied over Rustins Wood Dyes. 14 Indoor Wood Finishes French Polish Button Polish Manufactured from pure shellac and alcohol with a special additive included to facilitate sanding when dry. It is also used to seal wood before waxing and to seal wood dyes to prevent bleeding. Sizes: 125ml, 300ml, 500ml, 1L Manufactured from pure shellac dissolved in industrial alcohol. More orange in appearance than French Polish. Sizes: 125ml, 300ml, 500ml How to... FRENCH POLISH The surface should be clean and smooth. If grain is open, fill with Rustins Grainfiller. Stain if necessary with Rustins Wood Dye. Seal the wood with two coats of Rustins Shellac Sanding Sealer prior to French polishing. Apply with a Rubber made by wrapping a piece of cotton wool in cotton or linen rag the size of a handkerchief. Pour polish into rubber and squeeze out excess, dab a spot of linseed oil on the rubber, and work in a circular or figure of eight motion. Apply several coats, sandpaper lightly between coats if necessary. Finish using straight even strokes with polish thinned with methylated spirits. Use in a warm, dry atmosphere. Leave 24 hours after last coat to harden. For sealing wood before waxing, apply 2 coats with a brush or rag. Shellac Sanding Sealer Manufactured from pure shellac and alcohol with a special additive included to facilitate sanding when dry. It is also used to seal wood before waxing and to seal wood dyes to prevent bleeding. Sizes: 500ml, 1L, 4L 14

The ultra-fine particle size allows deep penetration of the preserver to take place so the performance of the product is much greater than standard wood preservation products. It is quick drying and can be applied to wet or dry timbers. For use against wood boring insects and wood rotting fungi within domestic, commercial, institutional and industrial premises. Ideal for use on all new, planed and sawn soft and hard woods. Flexterior with its special properties will not peel, crack or blister when correctly applied. Sizes: 500ml, 1L, 2.5L 2.5L in Clear only Based on special vegetable oils and resins to give a quick drying penetrating seal to teak, cedar and all bare wood. Easily applied with a brush or cloth. Gives an attractive sheen on interior and exterior surfaces. 19 Decking Quick Dry Decking Stain & Seal A quick drying waterborne stain which dries to a tough, waterresistant, matt finish. Clean brushes with water. Available in 3 colours. Size: 2.5L Antique Pine Brown Cedar English Oak Textured Decking Oil Textured Decking Oil contains agents to improve the slip resistance in wet and dry conditions on exterior timber decking and timber walkways. Rustins Textured Decking Oil is independently tested and rated as low slip potential according to BS7976, Part 2, 2002 assessment of slip resistance. It contains UV absorbers and biocide to protect the oil from mould and will allow the natural beauty of the wood to show through. Size: 2.5L Decking Oil Decking Cleaner A hard-wearing, water-resistant oil that enhances the colour of the decking. It contains UV light inhibitors and biocides which protect the oil from mould and algae growth. Available in Clear, Natural Pine, Natural Cedar & Natural Oak. Oily woods such as Teak and Iroko should be cleaned thoroughly with white spirit before application. Ensure the timber is dry, as dampness will prevent penetration and result in poor adhesion. Where the deck is weather stained, discoloured, or of poor appearance use Rustins Decking Cleaner to clean and revive the surface. When decking timber is not pre-treated such as with hardwood decking, use Rustins Advanced Wood Preserver on the wood before the oil. It is advisable to test for compatibility on a small area before proceeding further. This will assist in preventing the growth of mould naturally present in the wood. Can be applied to already coated flooring without sanding as long as the surface is clean and free from wax. Available in gloss and satin finish. Sizes: 1L, 2.5L, 5L Floorboard Gap & Joint Filler Based on a flexible water-borne, non-yellowing acrylic resin. For use in combination with saw or sanding dust from carpentry work as a colourmatched filler for gaps between flooring boards and joints. Quick dry, low odour and easy to sand, it fills the gap, doesn t shrink and can be coated with any Rustins product. How to... QUICK DRY FLOOR VARNISH Preparation: The floor must be clean, free from wax, grease and dust. Remove all traces of wax polish with wire wool and white spirit. Use a clean rag to remove the mixture of white spirit and wax. It is advisable to repeat this process even if the floor is to be sanded as sanding forces wax further into the wood. Special care should be taken where there are large cracks in the flooring as these can become caked with old wax polish. Large cracks or holes can be filled with Rustins Wood Filler. New or old floors that have been sanded can be stained with Rustins Wood Dye before varnish; other brands of dye may not be compatible. Application: STIR WELL BEFORE AND DURING USE. Do not dilute. Apply very liberally with minimum brushing using large brush or roller, finishing off in direction of the grain with light pressure. It will be touch-dry in approximately 20 minutes. A cold damp atmosphere or high humidity will slow the drying. A second coat can be applied after a minimum of 2 hours. Three liberal coats are usually sufficient but four are recommended on cork. When applied over existing finishes 9 the adhesion will improve over a period of hours. Floors can be walked on after 2 hours but should not be subject to heavy wear for 24 hours. Wipe off spillages immediately during first three days. If first or second application raises the grain, sand lightly before applying another coat. It is essential that raised grain is protected by an adequate thickness of varnish. If film thickness is not sufficient to cover raised grain water may be absorbed which will discolour the wood. Do not use less than recommended coverage. Do not pour varnish into an unlacquered metal container; use glass or polythene. 47 The Story of Briwax. Henry Flack started manufacturing French polishes and blending waxes in 1860 to supply the cabinet makers and woodcarvers in East London. After severe bomb damage during the Second World War, the company relocated to Beckenham in Kent. In 1961 the company was acquired by the Bollom family and in 2013 became part of the Rustins group. The Briwax Product range has been carefully selected from the finest traditional trade finishes, drawing on 150 years of experience supplying furniture manufacturers.
