3 Oils for Around the Home Rustin s original Danish Oil, with its unique formulation ensuring a low lustre finish when applied to any type of wood, has been complemented by two new quick dry versions. Rustin s Indoor Danish Oil has food safety approval whilst Rustin s Outdoor Danish Oil has UV protection. Both have a low odour making them comfortable to use. All of these products conform with The Materials and Articles in Contact with Food Regulations (2005) Rustin s Worktop Oil is the first quick-drying wooden work surface treatment that leaves a durable and water-resistant seal which isn t vulnerable to scratching or chipping. It, too, has a low odour and is food safety approved.

4 Indoor Wood Finishes QUICK-DRYING CLEAR VARNISHES A clear hard wearing coating for all interior woodwork which has the least effect on the colour of the wood. Low odour non-toxic and touch dry in 20 minutes, re-coatable in 2 hours. Available in gloss, satin and matt finishes., 2.5L, 5L CLEAR POLYURETHANE VARNISHES Clear varnish in gloss, satin and matt finishes. A tough and durable finish for all woodwork and cork. Apply 2-3 coats for the perfect finish. Re-coating time 2-8 hours. Can also be applied over Rustin s Wood Dyes., 2.5L, 5L QUICK-DRYING COLOURED VARNISHES Available in 8 attractive wood shades in gloss and satin finishes. Touch dry in 20 minutes and re-coatable in 2 hours. Suitable for all interior woodwork. COLOURED POLYURETHANE VARNISHES A range of 7 attractive natural wood shades in gloss and satin finishes. 5 Indoor Wood Finishes DANISH OIL An oil finish, suitable for all types of wood. It differs from Teak Oil in that it contains special ingredients, which prevent it drying to a gloss. It is an easy to use wipe on finish, which brings out the beauty of the timber and gives a natural, open grained, soft lustrous finish. Ideal for all woods and is excellent on turned woodwork. Danish Oil is a unique formulation developed by Rustins., 2.5L, 5L, 25L INDOOR DANISH OIL A waterborne blend of natural plant oils and other special ingredients to nourish and protect all types of indoor timber. It is low odour and gives a natural, low lustre, finish. Clean brushes with water. Sizes: 500ml, 1L TUNG OIL WORKTOP OIL A quick drying wooden work surface treatment which nourishes and protects all types of timber. It is low odour and leaves a durable, water-resistant, natural finish. Clean brushes with water. Sizes: 500ml, 1L A pure natural non-toxic oil that is completely free from solvent. It has good penetration into all types of timber without leaving a film and its special properties make it highly resistant to water, alcohol and food stuffs. It is additive free and safe for use in contact with food. It forms a hard wearing finish making it suitable for kitchen work surfaces, chopping boards and interior wood work. 6 Indoor Wood Finishes PLASTIC COATING Two-part clear cold cure lacquer for use on wood, hardboard, cork and plastic laminates. Extremely good adhesion, resistant to heat, solvents and abrasion. Can be burnished to a mirror like gloss or rubbed down to a smooth, satin finish with steel wool and wax. An excellent finish for marquetry as it does not darken light coloured veneers and does not yellow or craze on ageing. Hard-dry within 2 hours of application. Sizes: 250ml, IL, 4L. Plus boxed starter pack. FRENCH POLISHES BUTTON POLISH Manufactured from pure shellac dissolved in industrial alcohol. More orange in appearance than French polish. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml, 500ml, 1L, 2L, 4L FRENCH POLISH Traditional French Polish is made from shellac and industrial alcohol. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml, 500ml, 1L, 2L, 4L WHITE POLISH Made with bleached white shellac. Used for bleached or light coloured woods to keep the colour as natural as possible. Also ideal for sealing wood prior to waxing. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml, 1L, 2L, 4L CLEAR FRENCH POLISH Made from pure shellac that has been bleached and dewaxed. Sizes: 250ml, 1L, 4L (See Rustin s French Polishing Guide for an in-depth description of different polishes and their application.) SHELLAC SANDING SEALER Manufactured from Pure Shellac and alcohol with a special additive included to facilitate sanding when dry. It is also used to seal wood before waxing and to seal wood dyes to prevent bleeding. Sizes: 500ml, 1L, 4L FRICTION POLISH High Build Friction Polish, excellent for producing a high shine quickly on small turned objects. No skill is required in its application. Size: 500ml 6

8 Outdoor Wood Finishes FLEXTERIOR A flexible exterior satin wood finish with ultraviolet and fungicide protection of the film. Available in mahogany, dark oak, teak and clear. Ideal for use on all new, planed and sawn soft and hard woods. Flexterior with its special properties will not peel, crack or blister when correctly applied. Sizes: 500ml, 1L, 2.5L OUTDOOR CLEAR VARNISH A quick-drying, durable, clear coating available in Gloss and Satin. Gives long lasting protection to all external wood, and is touch dry in 30 minutes, re-coatable in 4 hours., 2.5L YACHT VARNISH Specially formulated with Tung Oil to give maximum protection and durability to marine and other external woodwork. Available in Gloss and Satin. Has excellent adhesion and will not flake or peel when correctly applied. Ideal for exterior doors and window frames., 2.5L, 5L Satin not available in 5L OUTDOOR WOODSTAIN Rustin s product is quick drying, very durable and available in Gloss and Satin. 9 Floor Finishes QUICK DRY ACRYLIC FLOOR COATING Non-toxic, quick drying, low odour, completely clear and non-yellowing. Resistant to water, alcohol, white spirit and similar solvents. Very hard wearing. Touch dry in 20 minutes and re-coatable in 2 hours. Can be applied to wood, cork, MDF, concrete and unsealed terracotta and quarry tiles. Available in Gloss and Satin finish. Sizes: 1L, 2.5L, 5L PLASTIC FLOOR COATING A two-part cold cure lacquer with excellent adhesion and durability. Almost colourless and will not craze or yellow on ageing. Resistant to scratching, abrasion, most solvents, weak acids and alkalis. Can be applied to wood, cork, chipboard, MDF, laminates, slate and stone. Re-coatable after /2 hours, floor can be used 2 hours after last coat has been applied. Available in Gloss and Satin finish. Sizes: 1L pack and 4L pack FLOOR OIL A mixture of natural vegetable oils and resins which improves the colour of bare wood. Wood tone will become richer when oil is applied. Allow 4-8 hours between coats, depending on temperature and humidity. Minimum of 3 coats recommended. Can be applied to all types of interior wooden floors, including parquet, woodblock and floorboards. Sizes: 1L, 5L POLYURETHANE FLOOR SEALER A heavy bodied, pale coloured, solvent based polyurethane which gives a tough and durable finish. Resistant to water, alcohol, white spirit and similar solvents. Drying time is 4-6 hours. Can be applied to wood, cork, MDF and old concrete floors. Can be applied to already coated flooring without sanding as long as the surface is clean and free from wax. Available in Gloss and Satin finish. Sizes: 1L, 2.5L, 5L FLOOR SHINES Specially formulated for use on flooring. Laminated Floor Shine is for use on laminated floors, whilst Multi-Purpose Floor Shine can be used on wood, cork, vinyl and lino flooring. Low odour, easy application and quick-drying. Leaves a brilliant shine without buffing. Drying time minutes. Leave for 24 hours before re-coating. Wash equipment in water. Size: 1L MULTI-PURPOSE FLOOR FINISH Apply on laminate, pre-coated veneered and wood floors, where minimum preparation is required. Quick drying, low odour, completely clear and non-yellowing. 10 Speciality Paints QUICK DRY BLACKBOARD BLACK Blackboard Black provides a matt black non-reflective surface for blackboards and photographic work. Suitable for interior and exterior use. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml, 500ml, 1L, 2.5L SATIN BLACK PAINT Produces a smooth satin finish on wood and metal. Suitable for interior and exterior use., 2.5L BLACK GLOSS PAINT Black gloss paint is a tough and durable finish, high quality alkyd based paint. Suitable for interior and exterior use. MATT BLACK PAINT A smooth matt black finish for wrought iron and wood. Suitable for interior and exterior use., 2.5L HEAT RESISTANT BLACK PAINT Based on a high quality waterborne, cross-linking acrylic resin. It is a low VOC paint for use on metal and wood and on both exterior and interior surfaces. The maximum heat resistance is approximately 220 C. (NOT FOR USE ON WOOD BURNING STOVES) QUICK DRY FLOOR PAINT Based on a high quality self cross linking waterborne acrylic. It is non-flammable with a low odour. Touch dry in 30 minutes. 11 Speciality Paints BRICK & TILE PAINT (Matt Red) Specially formulated on high quality alkyd resins and micronized pigments. Bonds exceptionally well to brick and tile, producing a durable and weather resistant matt finish. Ideal for interior and exterior use., 2.5L, 5L RADIATOR ENAMEL (White) A heat resistant, low odour solvent based brilliant white enamel that stays white and does not yellow with heat. GOLD PAINT Suitable for interior & exterior use. Touch dry in 2 hours. May be applied to wood and metal and over painted surfaces. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml, 500ml, 1L ALUMINIUM WOOD PRIMER Similar in composition to pink and white wood primers but contains aluminium pigment which provides better water resistance. 12

13 Wood Preparation STRYPIT PAINT & VARNISH STRIPPER A powerful paint remover for all paints, enamels, cellulose, stoved enamels, emulsion paints, synthetic finishes, polyurethanes, french polishes and varnishes. Penetration takes from 1 to 15 minutes, depending on type of finish and thickness of coating to be removed. Strypit does not contain caustic or acid and is non-flammable. Rinse off with water or white spirit., 2.5L, 5L, 25L WOOD FILLER A thick paste which can be thinned with water. Excellent for filling holes or cracks in wood, as it does not shrink on drying. Made in Mahogany, Natural, Oak and Teak. Size: 600gm NEW GENERATION STRYPIT 611 PAINT & VARNISH STRIPPER An alternative to conventional paint and varnish removers. It is a non-caustic stripper for removing multiple coats of all types of paints and varnishes previously applied to wood, metal, glass, stone and masonry surfaces. The product works best when applied liberally and allowed to penetrate for 2 to 4 hours. The consistency makes it effective on vertical surfaces. Sizes: 500ml, 1L PROFESSIONAL WOOD FILLER Provides a strong long lasting repair for all interior and exterior wood work. It hardens within 30 minutes at ambient temperature and produces a tack free surface. Easy to sand and readily accepts Rustin s Wood Dyes as well as Rustin s Paints and Varnishes. Once fully hardened, it can be sanded, drilled, machined and planed. It is also suitable for metal, concrete and fibreglass. Available in White and Natural. It is waterproof and suitable for interior and exterior applications and is excellent for use on edges. When dry it will take screws and nails. 14 Wood Preparation WOOD DYE For use on bare wood prior to finishing with any of Rustin s wood finishes. Quick drying penetrating stain, does not raise the grain. Supplied in 11 shades, which may be intermixed to make an infinite variety of natural wood shades. Suitable for interior and exterior use. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml, 1L, 5L WOOD BLEACH Removes weather stains and discolourations. Makes bare wood white or lighter in colour. Use to bleach natural timber to a lighter shade so it can then be stained to another wood shade, using Rustin s Wood Dyes. Sizes: Set A & B solution 500ml, A & B solution both available in 4L Pine Light Oak Ebony Dark Teak Red Mahogany Dark Oak GRAIN FILLER Apply to wood before finishing to fill the pores, preventing sinking of the finish. Available in Mahogany, Natural, Oak and Teak. The natural shade can be thinned with Rustin s Wood Dye so that filling and staining can be carried out in one operation. 15 Speciality Paints WHITE PRIMER An oil based primer, recommended for use when white or light pastel shades of finish are being applied. WHITE UNDERCOAT High quality oil based undercoat, suitable for all interior and exterior woodwork. Should be used over our white or pink primers. PROBLEM SOLVING WHITE PRIMER A water-based matt white primer for sealing difficult stains on wood, concrete, metal, MDF, plasterboard and previously painted surfaces. For interior and exterior use. QUICK DRYING STAIN BLOCKER A quick drying water-based matt white Stain Blocker for interior and exterior use, with excellent adhesion to wood, plaster and previously painted surfaces. It will seal all stains that may bleed through and discolour paint. When dry, it can be painted with any type of paint and undercoat. Stain Blocker can be applied over asphalt, bitumen, crayon, creosote, graffiti, nicotine, rust, soot, tannin and water stains. QUICK DRYING PRIMER & UNDERCOAT (WHITE AND GREY) For use on interior and exterior work. Used as a primer, it is suitable for new and bare wood, MDF, plaster, brickwork and cement. It has high opacity and can be used as an undercoat on primed or painted surfaces. This paint may be overcoated with water or solvent based finishing paints., 2.5L QUICK DRYING MDF CLEAR SEALER A quick drying, clear sealer that allows the application of both paints or varnishes, unlike white MDF sealers which can only be painted. 16 Decorating Products BRUSH CLEANER For cleaning wet brushes and rollers. This special liquid emulsifies oil paints, varnishes and polyurethane from brushes and rollers which can then be rinsed with clean water. Size: 250ml METHYLATED SPIRITS Used for thinning french polishes and shellac varnishes, for use in spirit burning heaters, stoves and for lighting barbecues. Cleans mirrors, glass and jewellery. Sizes: 250ml, 500ml, 4L, 25L BRUSH RESTORER Removes dried paint, varnish and polyurethane from brushes and rollers. Pour into a glass or metal container so that the roller or bristles of the brush are covered. As it may take some time for paint to soften, cover the container with cling film or foil to prevent loss of restorer by evaporation. As brush softens, restorer can penetrate faster. When bristles are softened, rinse in water to remove all loose material. Sizes: 250ml, 2.5L PURE TURPENTINE Used for mixing artists oil colours. Ideal for dissolving beeswax to make a wax polish. Sizes: 250ml, 500ml, 4L, 25L WALLPAPER REMOVER Makes water wetter. One bottle makes 20 litres of working solution when mixed with cold water. The solution penetrates the paper immediately. No mess on the floor and no laborious scraping. Rustin s Wallpaper Remover is ideal for removing all types of wallpaper. Size: 250ml CELLULOSE THINNERS A special blend of pure solvents that will mix with any make of cellulose lacquer. It does not contain any xylol, toluene or any other petroleum derivative and is not classified as a petroleum mixture. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml, 500ml, 1L, 5L 16

17 Decorating Products PAINT DRIERS (Terebene) A special blend of chemicals to speed the drying of oil and alkyd based paints and varnishes. Particularly recommended for adding to old paint and varnish that has been kept for a long time, and has become slow drying. Add a capful of driers to 1 2 litre of paint or varnish and stir well. Sizes: 250ml KNOTTING & WHITE KNOTTING For sealing knots and resinous and creosoted timber to prevent bleeding through paint film. Sandpaper surface smooth before applying liberally over knots and surrounding area. Do not sandpaper knotting once applied. Resinous and creosoted timber should be sealed completely with 2 coats. Allow 1 hour to dry before priming. Clean brushes with methylated spirits. Knotting should not be used under polyurethane clear varnishes or waterbased varnishes and water-based paints. Knotting Sizes: 125ml, 250ml, 500ml, 1L, 2L, 4L White Knotting Sizes: 125ml, 250ml, 1L SUGAR SOAP Ideal for preparing surfaces for repainting and cutting through grease and dirt, leaving the surface chemically clean so that a fresh coat of paint adheres readily. Excellent for general household cleaning. It is suitable for use on paintwork, vinyl wallcoverings and enamel surfaces. Rustin s Sugar Soap is concentrated and 500ml makes up to 13 litres of full strength solution. Size: 500ml BOILED LINSEED OIL Boiled linseed oil is used for finishing most bare timber and suitable for replacing the natural sheen that wood can lose after long periods drying in the sun. Boiled linseed oil contains special additives which speed the drying process. Will also waterproof ground sheets and tarpaulins. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml, 500ml, 2L, 4L, 25L UPVC CLEANER A special blend of ingredients to clean and restore all types of white UPVC that are weather stained, dirty and dull. Ingrained dirt is quickly removed and if the surface has lost its shine, Rustin s UPVC Cleaner will restore the gloss. It is ideal for white UPVC windows, doors, fascias, cladding and plastic garden furniture. Sizes: 500ml RAW LINSEED OIL A natural nourishing treatment for wood, including cricket bats, and as a lubricant for french polishing. Also used for softening putty that has become stiff. 18 Renovators - for wood SURFACE CLEANER Is a blend of powerful solvents, which will remove accumulated wax and dirt from furniture without harming the original finish. It should be applied with a soft cloth, or, if the wood is very dirty, with 000 Steel Wool. Wipe off the solution of dirt formed whilst still damp, with a clean rag or paper kitchen towels. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml LIQUID WAX Is a non-flammable and non-toxic wax emulsion containing pure beeswax and carnauba wax. It can be used with complete safety on all new and old furniture after cleaning off old previously applied wax with the surface cleaner. It is not suitable for use on bare wood. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml FINISH REVIVER If the original finish has lost its lustre or has fine surface scratches, the Finish Reviver will restore the gloss and remove minor surface defects. Water marks and heat marks can also be removed unless they have penetrated right through the finish to the wood. If unfortunately this has happened, the only remedy is to remove the old finish completely with Strypit Paint & Varnish Stripper and refinish. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml SCRATCH COVER - LIGHT Will mask unsightly surface scratches on light coloured furniture. Sizes: 125ml, 250ml SCRATCH COVER - MEDIUM Will mask unsightly surface scratches on mid coloured furniture.
