1 kingys Tweak Guide v.1.2 for Unreal Tournament Since it took me years, hundreds of visits of broken websites and a lot of experimenting to gather all the tweak knowledge I call my own I decided to share some of it. (may contain minor mistakes ;D) Here we go. Troubleshooting/Modern Machine Issues. -Modern CPU Lags UT99 lags for you but noone else? UT might having problems with your new shiny CPU. Try the CPUSPEED line. Create a new Shortcut to your UT.exe. Right click on it > properties > Destination: WHATEVER:\UnrealTournament\System\UnrealTournament.exe and paste (with space before the minus) -CPUSPEED=xxxx at the end. xxxx defines the speed of your CPU..just pay attention > only one core. That would be my line : C:\UnrealTournament\System\UnrealTournament.exe -CPUSPEED=3400 -Fair Ping You want fair matches with someone that pings 180 while you are pinging 50? Change your ping to match his by adding the following line to your UT.exe shortcut: -pktlag=x

2 Example: C:\UnrealTournament\System\UnrealTournament.exe -pktlag=70 You have to experiment with the number a little to get the exact ping you need Graphics: I recommend you use the latest OpenGL or Direct3D driver. To install a new ut render simply copy all files you download into your UT/system folder ;) -OpenGL: Latest Update downloadable here : or here To enable enhanced settings open your UT.ini, scroll down to [OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice] and replace everything you got with this : Of course feel free to change something, since this is MY setting and personal taste of grahics. Thus I disabled coronas for example. I highly recommend you change the fps count, aka frameratelimit=x to something that pleases you. 6 VolumetricLighting=False Direct3D10 For this you will need Windows Vista or higher Complete download link, readme etc here : Now that you are done UT should look very well for its age :] Tweaks that come in handy: -Disable the UT startup movie/intro: Open your UnrealTournament.ini at the very top search for: LocalMap=CityIntro.unr and replace it with LocalMap=UT-Logo-Map.unr done :)

7 -Get Xan as skin In case you want to use the skin of the final boss in Unreal Tournament (Xan) but you don't want to beat the single player mode just open your unrealtournament/user.ini and add: [Botpack.Ladder] HasBeatenGame=True Useful Keybinds -Suicide Keybind To assign a key to suicide bring up the console and type. set input KEY suicide XXX stands for any key you want. The suicide keybind will make you suicide. No more falling of the map forever + Tactical Suicides in CTF ftw! -Quit UT Keybind In case you cannot be bothered to press ESC and close UT the proper way, simply set up a keybind that will do this job for you: set input KEY quit Pressing this key will make UT shutdown immediately. -Behindview 1 Behindview 1 gives you the view from behind the player pawn you control.

8 Its fun to see him flip around but also you are able to look around corners with it. behindview 1 type this in the console and the view will last until your next death. Then you have to retype it set input KEY behindview 1 with this you can bind it to a key to quicken the procedure. set input KEY behindview 1 onrelease behindview 0 will make you go into behindview 1 as long as the button is pressed and leave it when you lift your finger. -Mousewheeljump The mousewheeljump is mostly useful for BunnyTrack but I also use it in standard combat situations. The principle of the mousewheeljump is easy. We assign scrolling down of the mousewheel to JUMP. We all know that you can spin the wheel very fast. Thus you can "jump" like "10 times per second" and you will never miss the critical point. Ever frustrated because that rocket wouldn't hit if you jumped 0,1 sec earlier and the spacekey didn't jam? Try it! set input MouseWheelDown Jump jump jump jump -Walking Jump

9 The walking jump is slighty lower than a normal jump but you can use it in Bunnytrack to save time or to confuse your enemies infight and to do a normal jump while carrying jumpboots. set input KEY walking jump -Instant Rocket Bind You may know the Instant Rockets Options in the UT menu... Since the Instant Rocket option makes rockets being fired faster it can be useful to bind it to a key so you use it when you need it..and not all the time. set input KEY setinstantrocket 1 fire onrelease setinstantrocket 0 with this command you assign the following to a key : "enable InstantRocket fire for one rocket and disable it right after the rocket was fired away" -Teamview/'F5ing' In case you want to check what your teammate is doing before you return a flag/go into a base/etc you could hit F5 to see whats happening from his view. Sadly this is very slow and takes time. set input KEY ViewClass Pawn onrelease ViewClass Pawn This on the other side works pretty well. By pressing and holding down the assigned key you will go into teamview and as soon as you let the button go you are in ego view again. I must admit that this only works properly when there is only one guy in your team.
