3 Main concept The 2018 player for Virtual Universe Pro allows you to generate and use interactive views for screens or virtual reality headsets. The 2018 player is "hybrid", it can be used to view on a screen or a virtual reality headset. Oculus, Htc Vive and Htc Vive Pro headsets and controllers as well as mixed reality headsets and controllers are usable. In virtual reality mode, the player allows to use a teleportation function to navigate efficiently in the virtual world. The player is based on the Unity 3d platform. Unity3d software installation is not required to use the player. The player can be used to assign materials with objects. Installation Install the latest version of Virtual Universe Pro and the latest version of player Both packages must be installed in the same directory. Generating a player 2018 view From the "File" menu of Virtual Universe Pro, choose "Generate / High Quality View 2018": 3

4 After a few moments, the view is generated: The refresh rate of the view is displayed at the top left. At the bottom of the window the following buttons are present: activate the "virtual reality headset" view. The STEAM and STEAMVR software must be installed on the PC, refer to the installation of the virtual reality headset elements in the Virtual Universe Pro manual for more informations. disable the "virtual reality headset" view. 5 Assigning materials When the materials assignation mode is activated, a list of materials appears on the right side of the player: Place the mouse cursor on the list of materials allows to scroll and select the active material (name displayed in red). 7 Clicking the left mouse button assigns the material. The button cancels an assignment. Clicking the left mouse button on a material (on the spheres on the right) opens a dialog box for changing the color and transparency properties of each material. The "Select" button validates the changes. To save the material definition, exit the mode by clicking Universe Pro (File / Save menu). and save the project from Virtual Using the mouse The use of the mouse for navigating and interacting is the same in the 2018 player as in Virtual Universe Pro. Settings "Layout" allows you to choose the decor, "Quality" the display quality (to be modulated according to PC performance). Brightness the brightness of the display. 8 «Controllers display» selects the type of display associated with the VR controller (hands for example). «Teleport areas generation» the generation mode for the teleport destination surfaces. Click OK in the player and then save the project in Virtual Universe Pro saves the settings in the Virtual Universe Pro project. Examples Examples that can be used with the 2018 on-screen and Vr player are in the examples directory of Virtual Universe Pro and the "player 2018" subdirectory. Vr In VR mode, controllers can be used to teleport. For this, press the top of the trackpad to select the location of the destination and then release the trackpad. The VR controller objects to be inserted into Virtual Universe Pro projects are different from those previously used in the Virtual Universe Pro built-in player. The rendering of the controllers is now managed by the player and no more by Virtual Universe Pro. New player objects can be retrieved from the examples directory in the "player 2018" subdirectory. 8
