FREE 4 ALL RECALL Help Note: PowerPoint macros must be enabled before playing for more see help information below Setting Macros in PowerPoint The Free4All Recall Game uses macros to automate many different game functions in PowerPoint. The Free4All Recall Game will operate with PowerPoint version 2010 or later. To begin, determine the version of PowerPoint you have (2010, 2013 or 2016). POWERPOINT 2010, 2013, 2016 Important: When you change your macro settings in the Trust Center, they are changed only for the Office program that you are currently using. The macro settings are not changed for all your Office programs. To enable macros, open PowerPoint and follow the below steps: 1. Click the File tab. 2. Click Options. 3. Click Trust Center, and then click Trust Center Settings. 4. In the Trust Center, click Macro Settings. 5. Select Disable all macros with notification (pictured below) 6. Click OK. To check if your macros have been enabled, open the Pass-Words Game in PowerPoint and click on the Open Game Setup button on the Pass-Words menu (shown below). If the Game Setup popup does not appear, your macros have not been enabled. In some organizations, the IT system administrator might have changed the default settings to prevent unauthorized personnel from changing macro settings. If this seems to be the case,

check with your IT department. In most instances, they will be able to enable PowerPoint macros so that your Pass-Words Game functions properly. Now that your macro settings have been set to Disable all macros with notification, each time you open the Game, PowerPoint will first check, then ask if you want to Enable Macros (see popup below). CLICK ENABLE MACROS. Click to enable macros PowerPoint Protected View WHAT IS PROTECTED VIEW? Protected View is a special Read Only mode to protect files opened or saved over the Internet. These files can always be opened to edit or play by clicking Enable or Edit Anyway. Here is a link to a page that fully describes Protected View and how to turn it off. Here is a link to video that explains the process.

About the Game The Free 4 All Recall game includes many different games within one great application. Descriptions/rules for each game are included in this Help Document as well as the game itself. In addition, all the game rules are customizable to best meet your training needs. Most teachers and trainers will want to add their own training information into the game. Importing questions, answers, additional information, points and other information into the game is a snap! We ll show you how to import the included game text files as well as how to create your own importable text files. Before explaining how these simple text files can be created/imported and looking at the many different types of games that can be played with the Free 4 All Recall game, let s take a general look at the main game screen and then see how you might go about setting up a game to play. Free 4 All Recall Main Game Screen: Let s start from the top down and explain some of the game features you see above.

Buzz-In Now: If you are playing the game with a fast response wireless buzzer system like the Who s First Wireless Buzzer system (recommended & sold by Training Games Inc.), as soon as you click the NEXT button on the screen (above), for next game question, this red Buzz-In Now box appears. As teams buzz in the exact order that they buzzed in is recorded. In this case the Orange Team was first in, the Green Team second and so on. In this way you can determine the team to begin play, or which team that gets the next game challenge. Many games may allow for multiple answer questions, and thus require you move from one team to the next. Alternatively, a game may allow for the next up team to answer a question that the previously answering team just missed. Game Timer: Just adjacent to the buzz-in box is the game timer. This is of course used to encourage teams/players to answer game challenges in a set amount of time. The setup options for the game timer include, No Timer, a 5 second timers, as well as a 1, 3, and 5-minute timer (Setup is reviewed below in detail). Your Game Title Here: As the title indicates here is an editable spot to place your game name or your organization s name. Keep in mind that you re working in PowerPoint so adding organization logos and other such graphics is easy! Points Box: Most games involve game points to determine the winning player or team. The Free 4 All Recall game allows you to enter points into the text files (Explained below) that are then imported into the game. However, once imported into the game by question, the point amounts can also be changed On the fly using the plus and minus buttons on the side of the box. Point settings increase from 1 to 10.

Navigation Buttons: Let s next look at some of the game navigation buttons found on the right side of the main game screen. The Setup buttons opens the game setup when the game is in PowerPoint slide show mode (Just like when you re presenting to an audience in PowerPoint). We ll explain the setup in depth below. The Next buttons is used to introduce the initial text information found within each line of your text file. This might be a game question or a game category or any other info you want to show. We ll see more about developing your game text files below. Obviously if a question is presented in a game, you ll need next to show the answer, and that is what the SHOW/HIDE button does. Clicking again on the SHOW/HIDE button, you guessed it, will HIDE the information. This gold SHOW/HIDE button might be used by the trainer to show additional information about the current question. However, keep in mind that these 3 buttons (NEXT, SHOW/HIDE (red), & SHOW/HIDE (gold)) are simply displaying the information found within your imported text file, and depending upon the information format you need, can provide the game information you require. Our last button, PICs, allow you to introduce graphics (JPEGS, PNG & GIF files) into the game when needed. You can even bring in an entire PowerPoint presentation, showing slides to compliment your game. Question/Answer/Add Info Box: As we explained above, when the NEXT button is clicked, a game question might first appear. In the main screen above we show the question Who was the fifth President of the United States. If the question were very long, the game would adjust the text to comfortably fit within the box.

Click here to Add Pts. Click to deduct Pts. Let s move on now and have a look at the slammer buttons. Above you ll see three game items. The first is a graphic of a slammer button. These colored buttons appear across the bottom of you game screen to signify that the game is being played with a fast response system (players compete to buzz-in first). These are just button graphics (clicking a button will also add to the points total for a team). The actual slammer buttons would be found in front of the teams themselves, all ready to buzz-in for first position. Note: The game can also be played with low tech or simpler systems such as raising a paddle, or activating a noise maker to buzz-in. Below each colored button you ll see the team name. These names are input using the setup popup. However, clicking on the team name itself also adds whatever point denomination is being shown in the points box to the teams overall score. This actual score shows up just below the team name. In addition, clicking on the team s score (itself) will deduct the points box denomination from that team s overall score. Here is the main game screen; however, this game has been setup to play in sequential team order (in turn order). The game has selected the Orange team to begin playing (Note the Orange team s scoring area is now shaded red). Play will continue in turn with the next up Blue Team followed by the Purple Team and so on. You ll also notice we ve change the background color of this game screen. The setup will allow you to configure backgrounds of any color you wish. We know many organizations like to use their own organizational colors, so we made

it easy to do. We ve referenced the setup quite a bit. Let s dig in and show you how to use the game s setup. Game Setup First, we mentioned that the setup could be accessed by clicking the on-screen SETUP button while in PowerPoint slide show mode. There is also a way to reach the setup while in PowerPoint EDIT mode. We ve placed an Open Game Setup button under a new PowerPoint ribbon bar tab (F4ARecall-shown left). Just click Open Game Setup to see the below setup popup.

You ll note that this popup has four different tabs: 1. Game Setup This tab contains the major setup features like number of teams playing, Sequential or First In (playing order) and the game timer. 2. Game Graphics- Here is where you ll configure game background colors or add some nice graphical game backgrounds. 3. Game Rules Here is a compilation of all our suggested & editable game rules 4. Your Game Rules- You ll can copy a set of rules from the Game Rules tab, paste and edit them into the Your Game Rules tab. After this you ll be able to review them with your team players prior to a game. Let s review the Game Setup tab: The Set Names & Adjust Scores section of the Game Setup allows you to edit team/player names, adjust game scores, and select the number of teams that are playing (Uncheck the SHOW radio box to deselect a team. Caution: When using a wireless buzzer system, make sure teams selected match the corresponding buzzer pad. Next, we see the Play Options section (above right) of this tab: Here we ll choose if teams will be selected sequentially ( In Turn order), or if we are using a First-In, first response system. We recommend the Who s First Wireless buzzer system (left) available through or

Here is a link to tell you more about this system. Game Timers: This section of the game setup allows you to select No Game Timer, a five second timer (For quick response), and a 1, 3, and 5-minute timer. The timer is pictured on the main game screen, and operates simply by clicking on it. The when clicked a second time, the timer will quickly reset and be ready to time the next team/player up. Question Order (Below): Select whether you would like game questions to be delivered sequentially from your text file or randomly (non-repeating, or what we ve called Flash Card mode (Random and repeating). New Game Button (Below): This button will reset the game and any game scores from a previous game. If the new game is to be played in sequential question order, question #1 will be the first question delivered, then question #2 and so on. Exit Setup (Below): Click here to close the setup. Any changes to the setup will be automatically applied. Set/Changes question Text Filename (above): As stated above, the information driving your training game is supplied through imported text files. Click this

button to import text files we ve provided, or you ve developed to play the Free 4 All game. Clicking this button brings you to the Text Files folder. Click into this folder and select the specific text file you want to bring into the game. The files information automatically loads into the game. After briefly reviewing the remaining setup tabs we will detail just how easy it is to develop text files to play. Game Graphics Tab: You can use this tab to enhance your game graphics in two ways. 1. Set Background Colors: The three slider bars above will allow you to create any background color you desire and apply these to the game.

2. Import Graphic Image as Background Button: We ve provided many different game backgrounds that you can select and import into the game. Clicking this button brings you to the Backgrounds folder. Click into this folder and select the specific text background you want to bring into the game. The background will automatically load into the game. Below and to the left we ve show several of the many background choices.

Game Rules Tab: This tab contains a list of suggested games and their corresponding rules that can be played using the Free 4 All Recall game. This tab also reviews the various methods for developing importable text files for your games. One final tab entitled Your Game Rules is designed so that you can copy, edit, and paste any of the games rules from the Game Rules tab. This is the tab you ll use to explain the game rules that you ve just customized to your audience just prior to playing the game. How to Use Game Rules Rules Information: Below you ll find suggested rules for some of the many ways you will be able to play the FREE4ALL RECALL game. Under each game title we ve included 3 sections; Text file Order, Game Setup and Game Rules. Text File Order: The FREE4ALL RECALL game allows you to create your own text files to import into the game and play. The text files are designed to contain your various questions, answers, additional information and game points depending upon the game you re playing. Let s look at the sample format for the first game PLAYLIST BREAKOUT described below (there are actually 2 possible format options for this game): Format #1 Format # 2 Questions Answer Points Or Questions Points The first (top) format #1 is straight forward. It is designed for a game that first introduces a question, and then by clicking on the game s SHOW/HIDE button, provides a hidden answer. The potential points for each question are always posted on the main game screen as well. Thus, if you were to develop a text file for this game you d begin by entering your first question followed by a vertical line ( ), then the answer to the question followed by a second vertical line, then a third vertical line (which I will explain below) and finally the number of points awarded for a correct answer. With this you would have successfully setup your initial game question. Then pressing enter, to move down one line (Basically a carriage return separates each game question) you would begin entering the information for your next game question again using this question answer points format. Note: We use the Vertical Line key to separate

information elements. The vertical line key is found on your keyboard usually along with the back-slash key (\). The vertical line symbol can be typed when it is pressed together with the shift key. All game FREE4ALL RECALL game formats MUST contain three vertical lines and four information elements. We use the vertical line symbol to separate the various information elements that make up one game question. The information elements in the above game question are: 1. the question itself, 2. the answer, 3. a blank space between two vertical lines, and 4. the points awarded for a correct answer. For example, the first question in the PLAYLIST BREAOUT might appear in your text file like this: Note: Three vertical lines between info elements. List alternative uses for newspaper? packing paper, swat flies, Confetti, Xmas wrap, window cleaning, puppy training 2 Thus: 1. our first question is List alternative uses for newspaper? 2. Packing paper, swat flies, confetti, Xmas wrap, window cleaning, puppy training are all possible correct answers. 3. There is no other or additional information in this game, but we still need the vertical line placed within our format. If we were to add additional information between the two vertical lines shown above, it would become accessible when we played the game. A trainer would probably use a format with additional information in it, if they wanted to elaborate on a game question. 4. Finally the number 2 represents the number of points awarded for providing a correct answer. Inputting information into a text file: If you like you can create your game text files by using the format described above, and entering the information into a Microsoft Word Document. Any Microsoft Word file can be saved as a text file by selecting Plain Text in the Save as Type dropdown box when attempting to configure the information as a text file for importing. Alternatively, you could paste or input your information in the default Windows text editor called WordPad (A text file format). We ve also included several sample text files that work for some of the game rules described above. If you wanted to play these games, but wanted to add

your own game information (Questions, answers etc.), you might just change the information you wanted included. F4A RECALL Text Builder (Excel File): To make entering large amounts of information and creating text files for import into your game even simpler, we ve developed and included a special Excel file (F4A RECALL Text Builder Microsoft Excel Macro Enabled Worksheet). Using this file, you can copy/paste your questions, answers and points into separate columns of the Excel spreadsheet, click the create text file button, and save the instantly created and formatted text file to any location of your choice on your computer. This file is in the Text File Folder that is included with the game. Format # 2 Questions Points You ll note above we ve provided a second possible format option for this game. In this instance the game question and points are the only information elements required. Instead of writing suggested answers, the game host will move from one question to the next without ever showing potential answers. Instead, the host is allowing teams to answer the question, and then decide if their answer is correct. Therefore, inputs for potential answers as well as additional information are left blank. On the main game screen, the SHOW/HIDE button for both the ANSWER as well as ADDITIONAL INFORMATION using this above formatting automatically disappears. Thus, the game host simply clicks the NEXT (question) button when ready to introduce the next question. The trainer may choose this text file format because they are looking for creative versus specific answers from their audience. To recap the main points for creating importable game text files; 1. We always use three vertical lines to separate information elements needed for a game. 2. Depending on the game these info elements could be categories, questions, answers, additional information or points. 3. Specific buttons are used in the game to show the various types of information elements in the game, and if these spots are left blank, the buttons to access the information will disappear from the main game screen.

Game Setup (options to use for this game): In the game setup there are many different setup selections/options. However, we wanted to provide you with not only the text file order, and game rules but also suggested setup selections you would choose to play the games described below. Let s, again as a sample, look at the setup suggestion for the first game entitled PLAYLIST BREAKOUT (Below). Game Setup: Play Options-Sequential, Timer Length-3 or 5 Minute Within the Play Options area there are three possible options found in the setup. These include Sequential, First In (USB Buzzer System) and First In (Standalone Buzzer, etc.). These different options relate to how a team or player will be selected to answer a question in the game. 1. Sequential: The game will randomly select the first team to answer a question, and then rotate through each team to answer questions in turn. 2. First-In (USB Buzzer System): A USB Buzzer system sends a (1 6) keystroke signal to the game indicating which team buzzed in 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd and so on. 3. First-In (Stand Alone Buzzer, etc.): A standalone buzzer system indicates which team buzzed in 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd and so on, but does so independent of the game itself (perhaps using a multi-colored and lighted tower). An even simpler form of a first-in standalone system would be to have team members raise their hands, or ring a bell to indicate they know the answer and wish to be first to respond. Note: It may be difficult for the game host to determine which team was first to respond if teams are using such simple methods in a classroom setting. We recommend using the Who s First Wireless Buzzer System to determine which team was First In, which can be used as either a standalone or USB buzzer system. The second suggested setup option has to do with the amount of time your teams will be given to discuss and provide an answer or answers to the game s questions. In this first game, we are recommending that the game timer be set to either three or five minutes. A quick word about Timers: There are 5 different game timer selections: No Timer, 5 second timer, and a 1, 3, and 5-minute timer. When you select any of the last 4 timer options, a clickable timer appears on the main game screen. The game host can choose the timer that best fits their training needs. Typically, on a first-in, fast response (Buzz-In) game the 5 second timer is recommended for at least the first player answering the question. This helps to prevent players from buzzing in without having an answer ready. We even suggest that they are penalized if they cannot give their answer within five seconds. The timer, if

clicked twice, will reset and begin timing the next player in line. However, we recommend just using it for the initial player and perhaps to coerce an answer from players who are taking a bit too long to answer. Another setup options (not used in the example above) found within the game setup is the Question Order. You can have questions delivered in the game Sequentially (in order from first to last) or Randomly (questions are selected at random from your list of game questions): Game Rules: The last section for each game describes the game s rules. Any of our game rule descriptions can be copied from the GAME RULES tab to the YOUR GAME RULES tab (both found in the setup). While on the Game Rules tab select any one of the games (Shown below). Now click the Copy/Paste to the Your Game Rules tab button shown at the bottom of the Games Rules tab. The rules will automatically be copied and pasted to the YOUR GAME RULES tab, where they can be edited and customized to better meet your training needs. Typically, you ll use the YOUR GAME RULES tab to explain the game rules to your audience just prior to playing. Review the various game descriptions/rules below and choose the one that will work best for your training program. Thank you for purchasing from Training Games Inc. ( Please contact us at support@traininggames.com for any additional questions you may have.

Suggested Game Rules PLAYLIST BREAKOUT Text File Order: Question Answer Points (OR) Question Points Game Setup: Play Options-Sequential, Timer Length-3 or 5 Minute Game Rules: This game works best with questions that have multiple answers or a list of answers to a single question. Players are divided into teams. Teams are separated into different parts of the room and given a whiteboard or easel. Easels must be hidden from the other teams and we suggest keeping the chatter low, so others can t hear your team s inspired and undoubtedly insightful answers. When the time has expired OR when everyone has finished; the team selected by the game will first give their answers, followed, in turn by the remaining teams. Points are awarded to each team for each correct answer. Teams receive points for their answers even if the same or a similar correct answer has already been given. The trainer then reveals any items not mentioned but listed on his/her answer sheet. Another question is displayed and the above is repeated until all questions have been covered. This game works well for reviewing key points covered in a recent training program. NOTE: It is possible, even likely, that teams will think of possible answers not found on the game host s list of possible answers. Points should, of course, be awarded at the game host s discretion.

WAIT YOUR TURN Text File Order: Question Answer Points (OR) Question Points Game Setup: Play Options-Sequential, Time Length - No Timer Game Rules: Players are divided into teams. A team is selected by the computer at random to start the game. Players from the initially selected team must provide the correct answer to the question. One point is awarded for a correct answer and deducted for an incorrect answer. The next team, in turn, gets a new question and a chance to earn points. This continues until all questions have been asked. To keep things fair, an equal number of questions must be asked each team prior to the end of the game. NOTE: Questions asked should have ONE possible correct answer however points may be awarded for similar (close) responses at the game host s discretion.

PASS OR PLAY Text File Order: Question Answer Points (OR) Question Points Game Setup: Play Options-Sequential, Time Length-No Timer Game Rules: Players are divided into teams. A team is selected by the computer at random to start the game. The best questions in this game will have multiple correct answers and the game host should indicate the number of correct answers they are looking for when posing a question. An example of a question with multiple answers might be Name the 5 tenets of our mission statement? One Player from the initially selected team provides an answer. Players on a team will maintain an answering rotation throughout the game. Points are awarded for correct answers and subtracted for incorrect answers. The next up player from the same team now has an opportunity to provide a correct answer. This player may attempt to answer or opt to PASS to avoid and incorrect point penalty. A team can only choose to PASS twice on any one question. When a player on the team chooses to PASS or answers a question incorrectly the opportunity to provide an answer rotates to the next team in turn. Once a team provides an incorrect answer, or passes a second time, they are eliminated from the turn rotation for that specific question. Work through all teams in order until all possible answers to the question have been revealed, all teams have given incorrect answers, or every team has PASSED twice on a specific question. The host will provide any missed answers. The main game screen will indicate how many points are awarded or deducted for each correct/incorrect answer. For example, if a team gave 3 correct answers and one incorrect answer on a 2-point question, they would have earned 4 points total for that question (3 X 2 = 6 minus 2 = 4 points). Once all questions have been delivered the team with the most points is declared the winner! NOTE: It might be possible for a player to give an answer that is very close but not the exact answer the trainer is looking for. In this case, points can still be awarded at the game host s discretion.

QUICK DRAW Text File Order: Question Answer Additional Info Points (OR) Question Points Game Setup: Play Options-First In (USB or First In), Time Length-5 Seconds Game Rules: This game is best for groups using a USB buzzer system like the Who's First Buzzer. Stand-alone systems or simply raising hands can be used to play however take care to be able to ascertain which team buzzed-in first and the order in which other teams followed. In this case, we recommend using an assistant to capture the order in which team s buzz in. Caution: The first team buzzing-in will only have 5 seconds to provide a valid answer to the question. If unanswered within 5 seconds, the question s total potential points will be deducted from that team s score. For example, if a 2-point question contains 3 correct answers (Name the three planets closest to our sun?) the potential point deduction is -6. The question then rotates to the team that has buzzed in second and so on. Players are divided into teams. When a question is first shown, players buzz-in if they know the answer. The first-in team MUST, during their turn, provide at least ONE answer within 5 seconds after being call upon to answer by the game host. If the question has multiple answers, the first-in team can continue to provide the remaining answers or PASS. Teams will receive points for EACH correct response. In this game team players are not required to take turns answering. When a team opts to PASS they effectively end their turn on this question, and give the next up team an opportunity to continue answering. However, once an incorrect response is given by any team player, that team s turn is automatically ended, and points are added for correct responses and deducted for the incorrect response. The game continues to the second and third team to have buzzed in and so on until all answers have been revealed. When all possible answers to a question have been revealed, or all teams have "passed", the trainer should divulge any answers not provided for the current question. Additional information: You ll note that in the first suggested format for this game we ve included a text input for additional information. The trainer might opt to include additional information into the game to further elaborate on the question itself. This effort, of course, is to enhance overall learning during the training. Additional information can be added to most of the text file formats at the trainer s discretion. The game continues until all questions have been answered or a set time limited is reached. The team accumulating the most points is declared the winner! NOTE: It might be possible for a player to give an answer that is very close but not the exact answer the trainer is looking for. In this case, points can still be awarded at the game host s discretion.

NO I IN TEAM Text File Order: Question Answer Points (OR) Question Points Game Setup: Play Options-First In (USB or First In), Time Length-5 Seconds Game Rules: This game is best for groups using a USB buzzer system like the Who's First Buzzer. Stand-alone systems or simply raising hands can be used to play however take care to be able to ascertain which team Buzzed In first. In this case, we recommend using an assistant to capture the team that buzzed in first. This game is designed for questions which contain a list of possible answers such as Name the five tenets of our company s mission statement. The host should, when possible, indicate the total number of correct answers contained within each question. Players are divided into equal number teams. When a question is first shown teams buzz-in if they know the answer. The first team member to answer MUST provide one correct answer from the list of possible correct answers to the question. They cannot pass, and are penalized points (determined by game host) if the first player s answer is incorrect or they fail to give and answer. Team members then rotate through in a pre-determined order, all providing only ONE EACH (without discussion) of the remaining possible answers to the given question. Discussing, or providing more than one answer during their turn automatically ends the team s turn. They can, after the initial player s answer, opt to PASS giving the next team player an opportunity to provide any remaining answers to the question. Once an incorrect response is given, the team s turn is automatically ended however points are awarded for any correct responses given. When the team has revealed all possible answers to a question, or all team members have all "passed", the trainer will divulge any answers not provided for the current question. Once a player passes, they are eliminated from providing answers to the question. We recommend that players are asked to respond quickly (within 5 seconds) and that the 5 second timer only be used by the game host to force a slow response. Another question is then revealed, and the same process is used to award points until all questions have been covered. The first-in team for the prior question is always eliminated from the next question round but will resume playing the game after this question. NOTE: It might be possible for a player to give an answer that is very close but not the exact answer the trainer is looking for. In this case, points can still be awarded at the game host s discretion.

RISK Text File Order: Category Question Points Game Setup: Play Options-First In (USB or First In), Timer - 1 or 3 minutes Game Rules: Players are divided into teams. When the NEXT button is pressed, a category will be shown. Players respond or "buzz-in" if they want to answer a question related to this category. The first THREE teams to respond get to BID on the question. For example: a team says I will risk 4 points on the answer. Another team might raise the BID to 6 points. Teams may continue to raise the BID in turn or opt to now PASS on the category. Points are adjusted and scored using the + or buttons and 1 9 points can be wagered. After all BIDS are made and last point BID set, the SHOW button reveals the question. The 1 to 3-minute timer is started allowing participating teams to discuss their answer to the question. If correct, teams receive the points wagered. If not correct, they lose the points wagered. Repeat the above until time expires or all questions have been asked. NOTE: It might be possible for a player to give an answer that is very close but not the exact answer the trainer is looking for. In this case, points can still be awarded at the game host s discretion.

PASSWORD Text File Order: Question (Word) 10 Points Game Setup: Play Options-Sequential, Question Order-Sequential Game Rules: Create teams of two participants each. The game will randomly select the starting team. Teams can rotate player roles at the game host s discretion as the clue givers and clue receivers after each word or each round. The clue receiver turns their back to the screen. When the NEXT button is pressed the first word is shown. Clue givers provide 1 or 2-word clues (game host s discretion) and the clue receiver attempts to guess the word. Each team in turn gets an opportunity to guess the word, however with each missed guess the rounds points potential is reduced by one, counting down from 10. When a correct guess is made that team is awarded the remaining points in the round. The NEXT button is clicked to move to the next word and play begins again. Repeat the above until time or questions expire.

THE JEOPARDY QUESTION Text File Order: Answer Question Points Game Setup: Play Options-First In (USB or First In), Time Length-5 Seconds This game is best for groups using a USB buzzer system like the Who's First Buzzer. Stand-alone devices (Noise maker, bells, paddle boards) or raising your hands can be used but ensure a way to tell who Buzzed In and in which order. Caution: first players that buzz-in only have 5 seconds to provide a valid answer or they lose points and their turn. Just as on the TV show, you are provided with the answer and must respond with the question. For example: Answer - He was the fifth President of the United States of America? Question Who was James Monroe? Players are divided into teams. When an answer is shown, players buzz-in if they know the question. Teams respond in the order they buzzed in. Points are awarded for each correct response or subtracted for each incorrect answer (I mean question). Another answer is then revealed, and the same process is used to award points until all answers have been introduced. NOTE: It might be possible for a player to give an response that is very close but not the exact response the trainer is looking for. In this case, points can still be awarded at the game host s discretion.

LIST MANIA Text File Order: Question 1 Point (Or) Question Answer 1 Point Game Setup: Play Options-Sequential, Timer Length-3 or 5 Minute This game only works with list or multiple answer type questions (Questions with multiple correct answers). The game host will maintain the list of correct answers for each question or may opt to use our second format (shown above) and add the answers into the text file itself. The game host should also mention the number of correct answers they are anticipating. For example: Name the 4 Presidential faces that have been carved into Mount Rushmore? This game contains an interesting scoring twist. Since it is harder to think of answers from a set of answers when the easier ones have already been used, a (+ 1) higher point values is awarded after each correct answer given. I.e. correct answer # 1 receives 1-point, correct answer # 2 receives 2 points, correct answer # 3 receives 3 points etc. Players are divided into teams. A team is selected by the computer at random to start. A Player from the selected team provides ONE answer from the list of possible correct answers. Points are awarded for correct answers. If an answer provided is correct, the same question goes to the next team in turn, but the point value awarded for providing another correct answer is increased by 1 (Max points are limited to 10 per question round). If an answer given is incorrect, that team s score is deducted by only one point and the question moves to the next team in turn. In addition, the point value does not increase. Teams can also opt to pass on a question, but once they do they can no longer participate in the question round. Work through all teams in order until every team says pass or all the correct answers have been revealed. The game host will disclose all correct answers missed. The next team in turn (the team after the team that was initially selected by the game) gets a new question or list and a chance to earn points. This continues until all questions have been presented. NOTE: It might be possible for a player to give an answer that is very close but not the exact answer the trainer is looking for. In this case, points can still be awarded at the game host s discretion.

CHARADES Text File Order: Category Title to guess Points Game Setup: Play Options-Sequential, Timer Length-3 or 5 Minute Game Rules: This is the very popular party game we all know as Charades. You ll note that in this game points may be adjusted (At the game host s discretion) based on the difficulty of the film, book, or television show title. A timer will limit the clue giving to either 3 or 5 minutes per title (game host s discretion). Create teams with an equal number of participants. The game will randomly select the starting team. Teams will rotate player roles as the clue givers and clue receivers after each title presented. The clue receivers turn their back to the screen. When the NEXT button is pressed a category like Book, Movie, Play, etc. is displayed to the clue giver ONLY. Clicking the SHOW button will show the clue giver the actual title. The game host may choose at this time to start the 3 to 5-minute timer. The clue giver then pantomimes for the clue receivers the word or phrase they have been presented. o Here are some common clues used in charades: o To indicate a book, pretend to read a book. o To indicate a song, pretend to sing. o To indicate a movie, pretend to crank an old movie camera. o To indicate the number of words, hold up that many fingers. (Then hold up one finger o before pantomiming the first word, two fingers before the second, and so on.) To pantomime a word that rhymes with the word you want players to guess, first tug on your ear to say, "sounds like." Points are awarded to the team for correct answers. Teams rotate to play (in turn order). After teams have all played an equal number of rounds and have been scored, the team with the most points is declared the winner.

PICTIONARY Text File Order: Category Picture to draw Points Game Setup: Play Options-Sequential, Timer Length-3 Minutes, An easel or whiteboard Game Rules: This is the very popular party game we all know as Pictionary. You ll note that in this game points may be adjusted (At the game host s discretion) based on the difficulty of the presented picture. A 3-minute timer is used for each picture being drawn. Create teams with an equal number of participants. The game will randomly select starting team. This team will play against the next team (In turn). The next two teams to play can be the 3 rd and 4th team and so on. Alternatively, you can (with additional flip charts) have all teams compete simultaneously. Teams will rotate player roles as the picturist and clue receivers after each picture is presented. The participating teams are simultaneously all shown the category (Click first NEXT button). The different categories are (P) for person, place or animal; (O) for object; (A) for action, such as an event; (D) for difficult words. If you prefer, you can draw on a dry-erase board and marker instead of a marker and paper flip chart. The clue receivers turn their backs to the screen and face the picturist. When the SHOW/HIDE button is pressed, and a picture title will appear. Have all team s picturists draw at the same time. When team s picturists are ready, start the timer and instruct the picturists to start drawing. The picturists will have 3 minutes to draw while their teammates try to guess the picture being drawn. Points are awarded for correct answers. Teams rotate to play (in turn order). After teams have all played an equal number of rounds and been scored, the team with the most points is declared the winner.

WHO AM I? Text File Order: Category or Hint Famous Person Points Game Setup: Play Options-Sequential, Timer Length-1 Minute Game Rules: Players are divided into teams. The game will select the first team to start, and teams play in turn from this point on. The first team clicks the NEXT button to display a category or hint. ONE OR TWO (game host s discretion) rotating player/s - the clue giver/s from the selected team view the name of the famous person by pressing the SHOW button. The rest of the team will have their backs turned away from the screen. Start the 1-minute timer. The player/s then provides clues to the team about the famous person s identity, but ONLY ONE clue at a time. Points are set at ten and one point is deducted (beginning at 10) for each missed guess. The team is given 1 minute for each individual guess. If the timer expires before any team member provides a guess, all the remaining points shown in the point box are deducted from the team score and the game moves to the next competing team. If the famous person is guessed correctly, the team is awarded the remaining points. The next team in order is then up and play continues. All teams should be given an equal number of famous people to guess. Repeat the above until time expires or a predetermined amount of points is reached.

CATEGORIES LIST Text file Order: The List Category Item that belongs on the list Points Game Setup: Play Options-Sequential, Timer Length-3 Minutes Players are divided into teams. The NEXT button is pressed and will show a category for items found on a list. For example, Things that are red. Each team in turn must list all items they know of that should belong on this particular list (Teams may use flip charts to record items). Start the 3-Minute timer and ask teams to quietly begin listing their items. Each item that correctly belongs on the list receives 3 points. Alternatively, points are deducted for any items that do not belong on the list. At the end of the 3-minutes, the SHOW button is pressed and five items that should be on the list are displayed. Teams receive 3 additional points for any of their listed items that match the five items displayed on screen. Examples of lists are or Things that float, State Capitals, Words that begin with X. Repeat the above until time expires or a predetermined amount of points is reached.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT? When the NEXT button is pressed, a statement is displayed that might be true or false. Teams buzz in. The first team buzzing in gets to answer true or false. Press the 5-Second timer. A Team must provide their answer within 5 seconds or they are penalized the entire 10 points. Anyone on the team can answer however; the first answer given becomes that team s final answer. Press the SHOW button to reveal if the statement was true or false. The team that buzzed in first on the prior question is excluded from competing on the next question, however can once again play after this next question played. For example, if team 1 answers question # 1 (Correctly or incorrectly), they are excluded from buzzing in for question # 2 but may again buzz in for question # 3. Scoring: 1) No answer within 5 seconds = lose 10 points. 2) Wrong answer = lose 10 points. 3) Correct answer = score 10 points. Repeat the above until time expires or a predetermined amount of points is reached. Note: We ve included an optional text input on the text file format shown above (Additional Information). The trainer may like using this format suggestion to review recent program learning, and elaborate on the true/false question within this additional information text. Repeat the above until time expires or a predetermined amount of points is reached.
