2 INTRODUCTION Many donations received by the library are difficult to strip down, or alternatively, see as sole source items. That is because they are too time consuming for our volunteers or because of the absence of a market for specialty materials. Therefore, we began our bulk lots/large lots auctions of such donations in In this way, we ensure that the lots go to appreciative homes. The lots consist of cover accumulations, stamp collections, commemorative FDC collections, national accumulations, and supplies. There are 246 lots. The auction will be held at the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library on Saturday, October 24, There will be one session, beginning at noon in the library annex meeting room. The bid form found inside this booklet may be used by mail, or bids may be placed by at rmpl@ qwestoffice.net. Where practical, we have provided the face value of stamps and material in the lots, as well as estimated catalog or retail value of the material contained in the lot. PROCEDURES RMPL LARGE LOTS AUCTION SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2012 Noon Meeting Room in the Library Annex 2038 So. Pontiac Way, Denver, CO The highest bidder takes the lot at one advance over the next highest bid, as hammered down by either auctioneer Erl Fossum or Sergio Lugo. An RMPL volunteer serves as agent bidder for all mail bids; he does not divulge mail bids to anyone---other than in the actual process of bidding. He does not know who the mail bidder is, only the assigned mail bidder s number. If a mail bid is the only one for a lot and the mail bid exceeds the minimum bid, the lot shall be sold to the mail bidder at the minimum bid. Please Note: Where multiple mail bids are received, the starting floor bid is the 2 nd highest of all such mail bids. For example, a lot has a minimum bid of $50, 6 mail bids are received, the two highest of which are $75 and $90. In the example, floor bidding starts at $75. In the case of ties between the highest floor Page 2 bidder and a mail bidder, one advance over the highest floor bid will be permitted (with preference given to floor bidders). In the case of a tie between mail bidders as the highest bids, preference is accorded the earliest received bid based on the postmark. Unspecified amount buy bids will not be accepted. Because of the large lot/bulk lot nature of the auction, all sales are final with no returns accepted (unless the lot was misdescribed). Lots failing to draw the minimum bid will be withdrawn for future disposal/auction. Successful floor bidders are expected to settle their purchases immediately after the auction with payment to the RMPL. Mail and bidders are expected to settle their purchases within two weeks. Please note that a successful bid is not a charitable deduction for income tax purposes, as goods are being sold and exchanged and no donation is involved. There are no commissions assessed, but successful Colorado resident bidders will be charged a 4.4% sales tax. Successful mail and bidders will be notified of the total cost. Shipping is via the USPS. To get an approximate idea of the cost of postage, calculate from zip code 80224, taking into account the number of boxes cited in the lot (most are bankers boxes of 10 to 20 lbs.). Thank you!

No stamps but Crystal Mounts where stamps had been mounted and neatly removed. 13 Seven Harris worldwide supplements for 1980s plus package of blank U.S. album sheets and several White Ace U.S. ZIP blocks. 14 Three Harris United States stamp albums covering 1847 to 1988, 1996 to 1999 and 1997 to In pristine like new condition. 15 Disney album pages in notebook. Each story has description of subject and space for stamps and souvenir sheets. A portion of stories have stamps included. A great start for Disney topical collection or gift for grandchild. 16 Scott International Postage Stamp Album Parts 1, 3 and 4. These are the bound "Brown" albums. Possibly several thousand scatted stamps, mostly used in Part 4 which goes through 1938/1939. In generally good condition. 17 Christmas Stamps of the United States in a nice clean Postal Commemorative Society album. Stamps run from 1962 to 1995 and have Scott stamps cancelled from towns with Christmas themes in their names such as Mount Holly, NH and Snow, OK. Stamps are mounted with hinges to pages. Nice selection of Argentina officials by department. United States - About 500 FDCs from a variety of sources. $ EST $ United States - About 400 unaddressed postal cards with First Day of Issue cancels. Very clean material with moderate duplication. 44 United States - Complete set of Birds and Flowers FDCs in a Postal Commemorative Society binder. 45 Several hundred CHERPEX and ROMPEX commemorative covers in very good condition. 46 United States and Foreign U.S. FDCs including Famous Americans and early airmails plus 143 Foreign covers. Nice lot. 47 United States - Large binder with 200 FDCs starting in 1938 up through 1957 with space for another United Nations - Two volume album set to 1977 with scattering of stamps. Each issue has space for a single and a block of four with description of subject and details of the stamp production. In very nice condition. 49 Worldwide - 45 commemorative FDCs, each from a different country for the 1980 Olympics in Moscow. Each cover has country flag on it. 50 United States - About 900 mint copies of UC17 in excellent condition. Face value $ United States covers with plate number coil singles. May be some better items mixed in this lot. Includes some reference material. 52 Worldwide - About 1,500 covers nearly all addressed to same person, many with multiple stamps as if sent by philatelic friends. Some FDCs were observed. Neatly mounted in eight notebooks although some have come loose. 53 United States - About 600 Postal Commemorative Society FDCs five volumes. 54 Worldwide - Sixteen old albums and stock books with several thousand used and mint NH stamps. S. history teacher. 59 United States - 3,000 FDCs sorted by Scott number. There are 62 $3, CAT $ different issues with about 50 of each. Run from Scott 930 to 992. Covers have singles and multiple stamps on them. 60 United States - Six binders with total of 300 commemorative covers $ EST $30.00 celebrating American philatelic history. Set has four volumes. This lot consists of three volume 1, one volume 2 and two volume United Nations - Extensive accumulation of stamps and covers including $ EST $ to 1972 mostly mint NH on White Ace pages including No. 38 souvenir sheet. United States - Thousands of mint and used stamps in old albums $1, EST $80.00 including some better material. You could spend weeks going through this material. 63 A variety of presentation binders with covers commemorating subjects $ EST $15.00 such as American flags, entertainment, the White House, Norman Rockwell, etc. 64 United States - Over 1,000 FDCs in ten binders and loose on Postal $1, EST $20.00 Commemorative Society pages. We assume there is some duplication. 65 Worldwide - Nine small to medium presentation albums on a variety of $90.00 EST $5.00 subjects 66 Israel - Approximately 1,500 covers including FDCs $1, EST $ Brazil - Two volumes in very good condition. One volume contains about 75 first day souvenir sheets with extensive discussion of subject, unfortunately in Portuguese. The other volume contains about 200 mint NH blocks of four covering 1985 to 1990 plus some souvenir sheets and postal cards. $ EST $ Italy - If you can read Italian this lot is for you. Over 600 Italian postal $ EST $5.00 bulletins describing new issues. 69 Worldwide - Ten small albums, each with about 75 mint NH stamps from $1, LIST $ Great Britain, Guernsey, France and the British Commonwealth. These were sold by Kenmore Stamp Company for $100 to $185 each. 70 Worldwide - About 200 postcards, about 90% unused. $ EST $ Large box of old binders and empty albums. One step above the dumpster. 72 Worldwide - Box of mostly loose stamps on and off paper. This is one of those lots that there is no telling what you might find. 73 United States - Two complete sets of State Birds and Flowers FDCs produced by Postal Commemorative Society and in nice clean albums. U.S. material includes some plate blocks and some ducks. Album show a fair amount of use. 82 United States - Minkus Commemorative Stamp Album to 1975 with mint stamps from 1920 to 1947 with some earlier used issues. Mint stamps are in Crystal mounts and appear to be NH. Album and pages are in excellent condition. 83 United States - Approximately 2,500 stamps on paper with some Canadian and other foreign mixed in. 84 United States - Small pickle jar with probably 10,000 used stamps off paper. Some older (1930s). 85 Worldwide - Box with perhaps 3,000 stamps mounted on old album pages, on stock sheets, in glassine envelopes and loose. Minor duplication and probably some better. 86 Seven presentation binders incorporating stamps celebrating the Civil War, automobiles, Christmas, National Parks, Native Americans plus 30 individual presentation sheets on a similar range of subjects. Produced by National Flag Foundation. 98 Eclectic United Nations collection including 24 sheets of 12 of the Human Rights series, flag stamps, a large number of early New York envelopes with heavy duplication and a presentation book with 1980 Flag stamps FDCs. 99 Very clean Scott Master Canada Stamp Album to 1995 with over 1,000 mostly used stamps. Fairly complete from 1940 to Sparse prior to May be some better in this collection Summer and Winter Olympic large commemorative panels in very clean binder. We noted very little duplication. Heavy on sand dune countries but nice selection for topical collector. The stock books are probably worth $10 each. 104 Worldwide - Beautiful collection of 867 mint flower stamps nicely mounted on White Ace pages with complete stamp by stamp inventory. Catalog value is from donor and we assume was a few years ago. 105 Greece - About 1,300 mostly used stamps nicely mounted on loose album pages. Some of the early stamps may be valuable varieties but do not have expertise to determine. 106 United States - Large notebook with over 2,000 mint and used stamps on stock pages by Scott number. Includes Scott 1805 to 2891 plus some BOB. About 40% used and 60% mint (mostly NH). Face value of mint is between $250 and $280. Individual stamps catalog up to $50. Both sections are about 90% complete with mint stamps, some hinged and some NH. Stamps are nicely mounted in clear mounts. Retail value for binder and pages is over $ Worldwide - About 400 mostly mint NH stamps and a few souvenir $ EST $30.00 sheets from countries ranging from Aden to Bulgaria. Many of the stamps are in blocks of four with moderate duplication. Donor's 1983 catalog value was $ Haiti - Approximately 600 mint never hinged stamps and souvenir $ EST $20.00 sheets, some in blocks of four. Moderate duplication. Donner 1983 catalog value was $ France - nice collection of 200 mostly used stamps. $75.00 EST $ Worldwide - 63 covers from Malta, Bahamas, France and Cyprus. Nearly $ EST $30.00 all airmail and most registered. Nice variety of stamps, cancellations and other markings. 113 United States plate blocks of four, all except one are $0.03 stamps. $15.00 FACE $ Russia - Approximately 1,800 mint and used stamps cleanly mounted in four nice stock books with catalog numbers of some noted. We did not see any duplication. Great starter collection or fill in the gaps for an experienced collector. 115 Worldwide - Large accumulation of stamps and covers regarding the 1958 World's Fair in Bruss Stamps are mostly mint NH.els, Belgium. In most cases the covers incorporate the same stamps as on the APS sales sheets. Probably 150 stamps and 50 covers. 116 Worldwide - Accumulation of nearly 1,900 mint NH stamps, mostly in panes of 50 or 100. While many catalog at Scotts minimum others catalog as high as $7.50 per stamp. Countries represented are Democratic Republic of Congo, Belgian Congo, United Nations and Luxemburg. 117 Worldwide - Small collection of Mozart stamps and covers mounted on APS Stamp Store sales sheets. 118 Germany/Italy - Small collection stamps and covers from 1930s and Donor's catalog values. 119 Sweden - Large accumulation of complete booklets and coil stamps. Booklets are in quantities of one to four each and coils are in strips of four. About 20% of catalog value is in the coils, the remainder in the booklets some of which catalog for as much as $80 each. 120 Iceland - Nice selection of 48 mostly mint stamps and 10 souvenir sheets or booklet panes cleanly mounted on homemade pages. Mostly ship images. 121 Hungary - Collection of 115 stamps and 24 souvenir sheets nicely mounted on homemade pages in excellent binder.
