15 50% Less Fiber How can this be? Kraft Pulp (Freesheet) vs. Thermo-Mechanical Pulp (Groundwood) 30% of the wood in trees is made up of lignin. That s the glue holding the fibers together. WOOD FIBERS Chemical Pulping Process Wood fibers cooked and washed and most of lignin (glue) is removed. Results in strong white kraft pulp.
