It was soft with sparkling bits of mica and they would slide down it into the water. Describe Papa s dune. It was a mound of hay, nearly as tall as the barn, and was covered in canvas. Papa leaned a ladder against one side of the hay. It had a pile of loose hay below to land on.

Lot and lots of snow. There is ice on the windows, they can draw sparkling pictures and can see their breathe in the air. There is wind that blows the snow and brings tumbleweeds. How would you describe winter where you live? Answers will vary. How does Sarah describe the sea? The sea is salt and stretches as far as you can see. It gleams like the sun on glass. There are waves.
60 Sarah Plain and Tall Chapter 7 In chapter 7 we meet some new people. Who are they? The neighbours, Matthew and Maggie and their two children, Rose and Violet. How does Maggie help Sarah? She brings chickens for Sarah and plants and helps her build a garden. She becomes Sarah s friends and encourages her to learn to drive a wagon. Maggie brings plants for Sarah to build a garden. Describe how you would build and a garden and the plants you would put in it. Answers will vary.
