4 1 Product description About DGPS receiver A100 1 Product description 1.1 About DGPS receiver A100 The DGPS receiver A100 is intended for determining the exact position of an agricultural vehicle during field work. The DGPS receiver A100 is supplied in two variants. DGPS receiver for WAAS/EGNOS DGPS receiver A100 with E-Dif DGPS receiver for WAAS/EGNOS These variants can be used in all countries where differential signals can be received. For example, it can be used in the USA and in almost all European countries. Scope of delivery: Variant for differential signals Waas/Egnos DGPS receiver A100 Magnetic footing Metal plate Connector cable There are different cables. Adhesive plate DGPS receiver A100 with E-Dif This variant is specifically intended for countries where no differential signals can be received. This covers e.g. Canada, all of South America, Africa, Asia, some countries in Eastern Europe and Russia EN

5 Product description Meaning of LED lights 1 This variant of the DGPS receiver is equipped with special software which automatically calculates the differential signals. In this software the license for the "E-Dif" function is activated. E-Dif is a method patented by Hemisphere for differential signal simulation for areas not covered by the differential signal. Adhesive plate 1.2 Meaning of LED lights The DGPS Receiver A100 has a status LED, which shows the quality of the connection: red: The DGPS receiver is connected to the terminal, but has no GPS reception. orange: The DGPS receiver can receive GPS signals, but the differential signal is missing. The precision degree is very low and cannot be used for precision farming. green: The DGPS receiver can receive GPS and differential signals. V

Never place your fingers between the magnetic footing of the GPS receiver and a metal surface. Hold the GPS receiver firmly in your hands, but do not place your fingers under the magnetic footing EN

7 Mounting and configuration Connecting the GPS receiver to the terminal 2 NOTICE The GPS receiver needs an open view of the sky. Mount the GPS receiver on the roof of the vehicle cabin. Avoid obscuring the GPS receiver's view of the sky. Procedure 1. Find a suitable place on the vehicle roof. This place should be as far to the front as possible and in the middle of the vehicle. 2. Use alcohol to clean the place where you will mount the DGPS receiver. 3. Stick the two-sided adhesive plate from 3M onto the cleaned surface. 4. Clean the metal plate you have put aside. 5. Remove the paper from the 3M adhesive plate and stick the metal plate onto it. 6. Screw the magnetic footing onto the DGPS receiver. 7. Place the DGPS receiver with the magnetic footing onto the metal plate. 2.2 Connecting the GPS receiver to the terminal CAUTION Live terminal plug Possible damage to the terminal due to short circuit. Switch off the terminal before plugging in or unplugging the DGPS receiver plug. Procedure This is how you connect the DGPS receiver A100 to a terminal: 1. Switch off the terminal. 2. Pull the cable of the DGPS receiver into the vehicle cabin. 3. Find the right RS232 connector on the terminal. Check the operating instructions for the terminal to find which connector this shall be. For most terminals from Mueller Electronics it is the C connector. 4. During initial start-up it can take approx. 30 minutes until the DGPS receiver has reception. On subsequent start-ups it will only take approx. 1-2 minutes. 2.3 Configuring the A100 The DGPS receiver can be configured on different terminals in different ways. To learn which parameters you need to configure and how, read the operating instructions of the terminal and applications which use the DGPS receiver. V

8 2 Mounting and configuration Using E-Dif 2.4 Using E-Dif If your DGPS receiver is equipped with E-Dif, you have a special cable with an "E- Dif" switch. E-Dif switch This switch must be used for calculating the differential signal at regular intervals. How often this must be done depends on your location. It is usually sufficient to calculate the signal every minutes. You may however need to do this more or less frequently. Procedure This is how you simulate the differential signal on DGPS receivers with E-Dif: 1. Move the switch to the left to calculate the E-Dif differential signal EN
