2 GENERL INFORMTION With this two-stage transducer it is possible to multiply the value of a measuring pulse by a whole-numbered or fraction-numbered factor. The factor is freely selectable from 1/255 F2/F1 255/1. The values of the numerator (F2) and the denominator ( F1) of the factor desired are separately adjustable (binary coded). Then, the valency of an output pulse I calculates itself with I = IE x F2/F1, with IE as value of an input pulse. Frequencies can also be transformed with the IWe2: f.off = f.on x F1 / F2. If F1 > F2, then the output frequency is unsteady. Some examples of applications : Electricity-measurements: Standardization of non-decadal pulse values of pulsing counters. Gas measurement: daptation of pulsing devices to existing tariff devices, conversion of gas volumes into thermal energy via constant factor, consideration of K-number as constant, control of odorization-pumps. Water measurement: conversion of an HF-signal into a LF-signal for telecommunication and tele-counting purposes. The function is characterized by 4 parameters: Temperature EMV Operational range Factor F1 : djustment range : 1 to 255, binary-coded Factor F2 : djustment range : 1 to 255, binary-coded Working frequency f_ Pulse duration (output) t.ia The values for f_ and t.ia which can be reached by the internal components are specified on the device, as well as the values the respective device has been adjusted to in factory. Lock device onto a top hat rail (35 mm installation rail) and screw catch into fixing position by help of a screw driver. With wall fastening 2 screws are necessary (Diameter d : 3 to 5 mm). Installation Establish connecting lines to the other MSR-components. Connect power supply and put on voltage. Initial operation The connection to the potential equalization (ground) is not always necessary. The respective connection point will only be offered for respective supply feed lines. Normally, maintenance is not necessary. Change fuses: If it is necessary to exchange fuses, the cause of fault must firstly be cleared. If the fault was outside the IWe2, the fuse may be exchanged by disconnecting and subsequently opening the device. Then, the fuse can finally be exchanged. Please use only fuses which have the same electrical characteristics. (With 230Vac and 115Vac-devices: 0,1 Flink, with 24V or 12Vdc: 0,63 Flink) In case error diagnostic is still unclear, the device must be sent to the manufacturer. Maintenance Page 4 of 8

5 INSTRUCTIONS FOR RE-PRMETERIZTION The device must only be re-parameterized in the factory or by especially trained personnel and competent persons. For the re-parameterization of f_ and t.ia it is necessary to work on the device when it is energized. It is strictly necessary to adhere to the respective accident prevention regulations. Normally, maintenance is not necessary. Determine the new parameters desired and specify the default values for F1, F2, f_ and t.ia. Tools necessary: screw driver ( /, size 1), frequency meter, pulse duration meter (e.g. oscilloscope), auxiliary for opening the housing. Open device by pressing back the 4 side locking pins while simultaneously pulling the connection head out of the housing. Pull out connecting part with both circuit boards until the adjustment switches for F1 and F2 become accessible. If changes of f_ or t.ia are necessary, these parameters will conveniently be adjusted at first. Preparation Realization Connect device to power supply. Put all switches on F1 and F2 into position OFF. Put start pulse onto pulse input whereby the oscillator starts. Measure frequency at test point f_ (Pin 10 of IC3 or IC ) and adjust desired frequency by turning the potentiometer P1 on the control circuit board. Modifying the working frequency f_ Connect device to power supply, put all switches of F1 onto OFF, shift switches of F2 onto new adjustment desired. Connect pulse duration meter (e.g. oscilloscope) to the measuring point for t.ia (at the outer connector of the light emitting diode LED1). Put start pulse onto pulse input whereby the oscillator starts and its frequency, divided by F2, will be fed to the power unit and the output circuit board. djust the desired output pulse duration t.ia at the potentiometer P1 of the power unit and output circuit board. In order to adjust the respective switches, it is recommended to use a small screwdriver. It is also advisable to shift the switch multiple times to and fro, before it remains in its desired position. If it is not possible to reach the new values for f_ and t.ia via the adjustment of the potentiometer, the components of the oscillator must be exchanged. This may only be carried out by FTL and can normally only be performed in factory. Close device after re-parameterization has been finished. Here, it is necessary to pay attention that the locking pins have been locked properly. Check device by means of new values. Note changed values as new settings on the device, create respective revision notification (informal) and add to device documentation. 7 Determine whether parameters can be adjusted or not: Is t.ia.target within the adjustment range t.ia specified on the device? Is it possible to represent the relation I. / I.E as whole-numbered fraction F1/F2 (F1 and F2 are to be selected as small as possible in the range from 1 to 255)? The working frequency value which is necessary for the application can be selectedc between f_.min = F1 / t.ie.min and f_.max = F2 / t.ia.diff.min. Is f_.min < f_.max and is a value for the necessary working frequency within the adjustment range for f_ specified on the device? If all questions could be answered with yes, the device can be adjusted for the use case. Example: I.E = 10/9 kwh (= 1,111..kWh) (e.g. given by the electric meter with pulsing device) t.ie.min = 0,4 sec (e.g. from maximal possible instantaneous power 10MW) I. = 1,0 kwh (e.g. due to decadal meter factor) t.ia.diff.min = 0,2 Sek (e.g. since meter can process pulses up to 5 Hz) t.ia.target = 100 msec (e.g. since meter exfiltrates shorter pulses as disturbing pulses) Ranges specified at IWe2: 50 msec < t.ia < 1500 msec 1,6 Hz < f_ < 88 Hz 100 msec is in the range msec: Thus, Ok t.ia Check 1 / (10/9) = 9/10 = F1/F2: Thus, the relation is exactly adjustable: Ok f_.min = F1 / t.ie.min= 9 / 0,4 = 22,5Hz I./I.E Calculation of f_.min f_.max = F2 / t.ia.diff.min = 10 / 0,2 = 50Hz Calculation of f_.max f_.min < f_.max?
