1 SECURICOM SPEECH TRANSFER SYSTEMS Product Overview Securicom speech transfer systems are two-way intercoms specifically designed to aid communications where normal speech is impaired by the use of a glass security screen or other similar barrier. Every system is controlled and powered individually and operates on a stand-alone basis. Each system comprises a twin-channel audio amplifier, power supply unit, a microphone and speaker for the staff, a microphone and speaker for the customer and an induction loop aerial. Securicom systems also offer an induction loop facility which is built into the amplifier to assist users of hearing aids. Installation Instructions (STS-K001L-#) Installing the STS-B80 audio bridge bar O/A Max Width: 640mm O/A Min Width: 620mm Use small pipe cutter to cut bridge bar to required length to avoid damage to internal cables Tighten knurled point cup screws to fix bridge bar at both ends (x2 on each) Drill suitable hole in counter to feed cables through (left pod) 4. Drill pilot holes for fixing screws (x2 on each), screw brackets to counter through fixing holes. 4. If bridge bar was reduced in length re-connect speaker and then fit pod (using the two fixing screws), ensuring all cables are fed through counter top Connect second speaker and then fit pod (using the two fixing screws) All cables exit through counter from Page 1 Iss1 PT 10/04/13

4 STS-A31 Set-up To achieve best possible performance from the Securicom system Contacta recommends following the below steps: Enter engineers mode (see below) Ensure customer and staff volumes are turned completely down Adjust staff (Vol In) volume to a desired/comfortable level 4. INCREASE customer (Vol Out) volume until feedback is heard 5. DECREASE customer (Vol Out) volume until feedback is just eliminated This will set the maximum volumes The amplifier will automatically reduce volumes when exiting engineers mode. ENTERING ENGINEERS MODE If the STS-A31 detects an error in its settings memory, it will restore itself to factory default settings. The STS-A31 will exit engineer s setup mode if the On/Off button is pressed at any time: The STS-A31 will also exit engineer s setup mode if no button has been pressed for a period of two minutes. WHILST IN ENGINEERS MODE (LED will flash to indicate what setup area you are currently in 1, 2 or 3) FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS Unplug the power supply (PS-55-00) and reconnect it. Press On/Off button and Vol In - button together then release. The status LED bar graph will show a fixed pattern of LEDs indicating the firmware revision number, followed by all LEDs illuminated. Securicom systems also offer an induction loop facility which is built into the amplifier to assist users of hearing aids. Microphone & Positioning Ensure staff unit (blue in fig1) is in a good position on the counter or desk, ideally no more than 300mm away from staff member when sitting. Ensure induction loop sign is displayed in a prominent position so that users know an induction loop is present Check amplifier (normally located on the underside of the counter or table top is fully functional by ensuring red fault light is NOT showing on the front. Face the microphone and speak normally in your usual seated position.
