1 offman ontrols OEM Installation Manual 7-,, P, P Series Step ontrollers Description The 7-,, P, P, Series Step ontrollers are first on / last off electronic step controllers. The ontrollers are available in,, or stages, with S.P.S.T. (Form A) isolated pilot duty relays. Three ontrollers may be utilized to provide up to eighteen consecutive stages. The ontroller is available in two series. The 7- or 7- Series features the capability of accepting four input signals; two thermostat ranges (inputs), 135 ohms and 1 to olts D or 1 to ma. The 7-P or 7-P Series has an on-board pneumatic transducer that directly accepts to 15 psi pneumatic input signals. The ontrol incorporates one (. 1 olts D) internal (eating or ooling) ramp that spans the input signal ranges. All stages must be located on either the heating or cooling ramp. This feature eliminates the requirement for a separate span adjustment for the ramp. The user has the ability to locate and set any stage within the input signals range on the internal ramp. All ontroller stages are (Form A) isolated output relays with a single ommon terminal. Application All 7 Series Step ontrollers are furnished factory programmed and calibrated. Each Series offers models with,, or steps of staging. Features Five electric/ electronic inputs (7- or 7-), or One pneumatic input (7-P or 7-P). All stages are programmed for either eating (reverse acting) or ooling (direct acting). All signal input setpoints are factory calibrated. The differential is fixed for each stage. Factory calibration standards are noted in Table 1. The 7-,, P, P alibration urves depict the energizing location of each stage (up to stages) for its specific input signal or internal Ramp oltage. To use the factory standard calibration and programming, the installer must provide A power and use the factory calibrated input signal range for the application. The input signal selected must conform to the precalibrated span as shown in the 7 Series alibration urves. Field Recalibration If the factory standard calibration of stages is not suitable, field calibration will be required. The 7-,, P, P Step ontrollers are designed to allow the user to recalibrate the ontroller s functions as required for the application. The following information must be determined before the field calibration procedure can be accomplished. 1. What are the total number of stages required? eating ooling If more than six () stages of heating or cooling are required, see 7 Master & Slave Interconnect Wiring. Page 1 of 7-,, P & P Series OEM Installation Manual
2 . What is the required input signal value in ohms, D, ma, or psi for setpoint?. (When 9 Series thermostat / sensors are used, input signal re-zeroing is not required. 3. What is the required value in ohms, D, ma or psi for the span (from setpoint) for the stages required? eating signal span value. or ooling signal span value. Reprogramming Step #1 Re-zero Set Point Re-zero of thermistor (K) input is not necessary. If re-zero is required of the setpoint for ohms, D, ma or psi input signal, proceed as follows; otherwise omit this step and proceed to Step #. eat Re-zero A. onnect DM to and OM (oltage Ramp) test posts and supply the required input signal (setpoint) in ohms, D, ma or psi to the ontroller. B. Adjust the eat Zero pot until. D (eat Ramp olts) is observed on the DM. ool Re-zero A. Relocate DM to and OM (oltage Ramp) test posts and supply the required input signal point in ohms, D, ma or psi to the ontroller. B. Adjust the ool Zero pot until. D (ool Ramp olts) is observed on the DM. Setpoint has now been re-zeroed to the new values selected for eating and ooling setpoints. Step # Recalibrating eat Stages Proceed to Step #3 when using factory preset heating stages. If not, all stage pots must be recalibrated. A. Select appropriate Input Signal vs. Ramp olts alibration urve. B. Determine the input signal value required for each heating stage and the corresponding ramp volts. (See the 7 alibration urves.). Install the tab to the position at the 7 location. The tab should be placed in the storage position (depicted below). Storage Position 7 D. Reset all eat stage trim pots fully W. A synchronization time-delay may be observed between the illumination of an L.E.D. and closing of the associated relay. This is normal. E. Install DM on and OM (oltage Ramp) test posts. F. Adjust trim pot (R) to the eat Ramp olts, determined in.b. above, for the first stage of heat. G. Adjust Stage 1 trim pot W while observing Stage 1 L.E.D. STOP adjusting trim pot when the L.E.D. turns ON. Repeat this step as necessary to reach an accurate adjustment.. Repeat Steps A. through G. above, for each eat stage used. (Stage B, Stage, etc.) I. After calibration of heat stages, slowly adjust the trim pot (R) from full W to full W to energize and de-energize stages. IMPORTANT If the stages do not de-energize in the following order, repeat Steps A. through G. Last stage must de-energize first. The first stage must de-energize last. Each stage from the last to the first must de-energize sequentially. Step #3 Recalibrating ool Stages Proceed to Step # when using factory preset cooling stages. If not, all stage pots must be recalibrated. A. Select appropriate Input Signal vs. Ramp olts (see 7 Series alibration urves). B. Determine the required input value for each ool stage and the corresponding Ramp olts.. Install the tab to the position at the 7 location. Put the tab in the storage position (depicted below). 7 Storage Position D. Reset all ool stage trim pots fully W. Page of 7-,, P & P Series OEM Installation Manual
