1 Study Guide Final examination (100 points) (4th May [F] 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. same venue) Read p. 7 of the syllabus for instruction. Final examination is CLOSED BOOK. There will be THREE parts: 1. Analysis of framing, camera movement, depth of field, and lighting (30 pts) (multiple choice questions, short questions) Students will be shown a short clip (3-5 minutes) and asked to identify the framing, camera movement, depth of field, and lighting. Students will discuss the impact of the images because of these stylistic choices. Terms to know: overexposure/underexposure, high/low contrast, high/low angle, canted framing, low height, extreme long shot, long shot, medium long shot, medium shot, medium close-up, point-of-view shot, close-up, extreme close-up, shallow/deep depth of field, pan, tilt, zoom in/out, crane, track (forward/backward) 2. Multiple choice questions from the THREE IN-CLASS quizzes (20 pts) See p. 2 onwards for the questions and options. Five questions will appear as they are now, five will be rephrased. 3. Re-creation of a scene (50 pts) Students will watch one clip for a few times and adapt it to a new genre by discussing documentary genre, mise-en-scene, cinematography, and editing. (Short questions, 3 pages) Terms to know: Mise-en-scene setting (overwhelming/sparse details; colour scheme; prop; motif); costume and make-up (colour scheme); lighting (texture, shape, composition, contrast); staging (realistic/unrealistic; individualized/typecast; exaggerated/flat).
