All entries forms, entry fees and electronic images of the entered prints are to be submitted by the link provided on our web site, For further information see the VIGEX web site Sections and Patronage Prints only, up to 4 images per section. 1. Australia Dollars: $AUD15, $AUD20, $AUD30, $AUD35, $AUD40, AU$40 for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 sections respectively (ie having paid for 5 sections, the sixth is free). The only payment method is via the entry process on the website which will have provision for on-line payment using PayPal. There is no need to have a PayPal account to use this service. If use of PayPal is not possible in your country please the salon. Entries received without the entry fee will not be judged. Entry The only entry submission method is via the online entry form linked at After you submit your entry, you will receive a confirmation with your name, address, image thumbnails and the titles you typed in. Please review this carefully and if you made any errors or wish to make any changes (including adding, changing or removing images) note your Entry Reference Number and password and use these to access your details again on the on-line entry form. You may correct or update details until the entry closing date for the salon. The entries are processed periodically and the status report is updated at that time. 2 Overseas entrants sending prints by surface mail should allow 120 days minimum shipping time for the arrival of entries. Packages arriving after the closing date will not be judged. Group Entries Entry fee discount of 10% is offered to group entries with six entrants or more, where all images arrive in the same package. Group entrants need to 1. Enter individually via the website but do not make a payment. 2. One entrant should use Special Pay to make a single PayPal payment for the whole group, 10% less than the total of the normal entry fees for all the group members. 3. List all entrants in the notes section of Special Pay, or the Salon President with a list of the group members. 4. Attach print labels from entry confirmation s to all prints, then mail all group prints together in one package. Note: Prints will not be returned after the exhibition. Due to the uncertainty of escalating Australian postage costs VIGEX has reluctantly decided that prints mailed to this salon will not be returned. However if prints are sent to Maitland International Salon of Photography 2019, also a non-return salon, these can be forwarded to Vigex after the Maitland exhibition to be entered into both salons, as follows. Prints forwarded from Maitland to Vigex Entrants submitting prints to the Maitland 2019 Salon (sections: Monochrome, Colour, Nature) may elect to have these forwarded without charge to the VIGEX 2019 Print Salon. Maitland entry form will have a check box to request this. Entrants may also enclose prints for the additional VIGEX-only sections (Creative, Photo Travel, Differences in Society) with their Maitland 2019 package Maitland will also forward these to Vigex. Entrants using this forwarding arrangement must complete separate entry forms for BOTH salons and indicate on BOTH entry forms that all prints are to be forwarded from Maitland to VIGEX. 3 Eligibility The exhibition is open to anyone; however, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization (Vigex Inc.) or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to the exhibition rules and conditions. An entrant s images will not be presented to the judges consecutively. An entrant s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging in that section. Distribution of images shall be in the same round order as submitted by the entrant. Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his/her own (aliases are not permitted), that he/she photographed all parts of the images and that he/she holds the copyright of all works submitted. Copyright The entrant permits Vigex Inc. to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the exhibition. This may include low resolution posting on a website. Note: Entrants who indicate that their images may not be reproduced or used will not be eligible to enter this salon. The exhibition assumes no liability for any misuse of copyright. Copyright of each image remains the property of the maker. Subject to restrictions set out in Section Definitions, images may be altered, either electronically or otherwise, by the maker. All parts of the image must have been photographed by the author who is holding the copyright of all works submitted All final work must be on photographic or digital print material, mounting excepted. No title or identification of the maker shall be visible anywhere on the face of an image, print mat or mount entered in a PSA Recognized exhibition. Each image must have a unique title. Once an image has been accepted in a PSA Recognized exhibition, that same image, or a like in camera or a reproduction duplicate of that image: i. May not be entered or re-entered in any section of the same Division Star Ratings class in that exhibition regardless of media, format, or title. Acceptances in all previous VIGEX Salons Images accepted in any previous VIGEX print or digital salon, or almost identical in style and subject matter, are ineligible for entry in this salon, regardless of title. Images that have been converted between Colour and Monochrome are considered to be the same image for this rule, regardless of titles. ii. May not be re-titled for entry in any other PSA Recognized exhibition, including translation into another language. iii. Images meeting the Monochrome Definition and non-manipulated color images from the same capture shall be considered the same image and must be given the same title. No monochrome work will be accepted into the Colour Open, Creative or Differences in Society sections of this salon. iv. An image may be entered in only one section of this salon. Multiple images which are substantially similar, including monochrome and colour versions from the same original capture, may not be entered into one or multiple sections of this salon. Words such as Untitled and No Title or anything similar are not acceptable as part or all of an image s title, nor are camera capture filenames. Images without acceptable titles will not be judged. It is the exhibitor s responsibility to comply with these rules. VIGEX reserves the right to disqualify from this exhibition any image which it believes would fail to meet these requirements. Any acceptances with invalid titles will not be eligible for FIAP distinctions and will not be validated by PSA for Star Ratings or included in the annual PSA Who s Who publication. 4 Image format All final work must be on photographic or digital print material, mounting excepted. a) A maximum of four prints may be submitted in each section. For judging, images will be simultaneously laid out on tables for viewing and scoring. Titles will not be read out. b) Sequences of prints may be submitted as a single entry provided they are mounted on a single lightweight mount not exceeding 50cm x 40cm. c) Print Sizes for all sections: Maximum: A3+ 329mm x 483mm (13 x 19 ) or equivalent in area. Minimum: 25cm x 20cm (10" x 8") or equivalent in area d) Unmounted prints are preferred. Maximum size of any mounting is 50cm x 40cm (20" x 16"). Maximum thickness including any mounting is 5mm (0.2 ). Prints on excessively thick mounts and some 3-dimensional images will not be displayed due to framing problems. Framed prints, or prints mounted on timber, will not be accepted. e) The back of each print must bear the name, address and country of the entrant and be titled to correspond with the entry form. This must be printed in capital letters or typed, and include section number, section name, and image number within the section to match the entry form. Pre-printed labels with these details will be ed to all on-line entrants to be affixed to your prints before posting. Only pressure sensitive (self-adhesive) labels may be used on the backs of unmounted prints. No title or identification of the maker shall be written anywhere on the face side of any print or its mount. All entries are to be submitted as prints conforming to the regulations for the appropriate section. In addition, a small digital image of each print is required as part of the on-line entry process. The required characteristics of these small digital images are as follows: in srgb.jpg format maximum 1.5 MB file size maximum 1400 pixels horizontally, 1050 pixels vertically. Note that portrait orientation images must still meet the 1050 pixel height limit. Images which exceed any of these maximums will be blocked during the on-line entry process. These digital images will not be judged and may be used for the salon catalogue or DVD or as part of the public projections of accepted images see Calendar. Titles. There is no need to follow any naming convention for your jpg files when you enter. The entry form software properly renames your files to meet the needs of our exhibition. Titles must use letters and numbers from the English alphabet but no other characters. Maximum title length is 35 characters, including spaces. Titles will not be announced at judging. Damaged or Lost Prints - All care will be taken in the handling of prints but no responsibility can be accepted for damage or loss of prints. Displays of Accepted Work All prints which are awarded a Merit or above will be mounted, framed and exhibited under glass. Space constraints prevent the display of other accepted prints. A gallery of all acceptances will be displayed on the Vigex web site. All accepted images will be displayed during or soon after the print exhibition in three public digital slide shows. These will be made using the electronic files provided by entrants during the entry process. Times and locations will be notified on the web site. A salon DVD will contain the salon catalogue with all results and a slideshow of all acceptances. This publicly distributed slideshow will be made using lower resolution copies of the entrants electronic images as specified by FIAP and PSA. This DVD will be sent free to all entrants. The exhibition of the top prints will be held between 27th July 2019 and 11th August 2019 location and opening hours will be advised via the Vigex website, A digital slide show of all acceptances will be presented in three public displays at the following locations: Melbourne Camera Club, Cnr Dorcas and Ferrars Streets, South Melbourne, Victoria Geelong Camera Club, 1 Barwon Heads Rd. Belmont, Victoria Corio Bay Camera Club, Centenary Hall, 1-9 Cox Rd, Norlane, Victoria Slide show dates will be advised via the VIGEX website. Compliance with Conditions of Entry and Patronage Organisation Rules. If at any time, it is determined in the reasonable discretion of the exhibition organizers or the judges before, during, or after the judging of an exhibition that an entrant has submitted entries where one or more images may fail to comply with these Conditions of Entry, including the stated definitions, the exhibition organizers reserve the right to delete the entry from the exhibition and void any or all acceptances or awards in connection with the exhibition. Fees may be forfeited or refunded in these circumstances. The entrant acknowledges that the decision of the exhibition organizers or the judges is final. In order to ensure that images comply with the Conditions of Entry and definitions, the exhibition organizers may carry out reasonable measures to verify that: a) the images are the original work of the entrant and b) the images comply with the rules and definitions as set out in these Conditions of Entry. These steps may include, but are not limited to, questioning any entrant, requiring the submission of RAW files or other digital files representing the original capture of the submitted image(s) with EXIF data intact, confronting the entrant with evidence that one or more submitted images fails to comply with the Conditions of Entry, and offering the entrant a reasonable opportunity to provide counter evidence to refute the exhibition organizer s evidence by a set deadline. Such entries that are not cleared or are still questionable after the entrant has presented evidence may be considered in breach of these Conditions of Entry, and declined. Such entries may be referred to PSA or FIAP for further investigation of possible ethics violations. PSA retains the right to investigate in any way all complaints/suspicions of breaches of entry conditions, impose sanctions if deemed necessary, void the acceptances of any image found to violate the PSA rules, include the entrant s name on the list of sanctions provided to Exhibitions, and share such investigations with FIAP. Entrants automatically agree to these terms by the act of entering the Exhibition and agree to cooperate with any investigation. By the sole act of submitting his/her images or files to a salon under FIAP Patronage, the entrant accepts without exception and with no objection the following terms: - that the submitted images can be investigated by FIAP and/or Vigex to establish if these obey FIAP regulations and definitions even if the entrant is not a member of FIAP, - that FIAP will use any means at its disposal for this undertaking, - that any refusal to cooperate with FIAP or any refusal to submit the original files as captured by the camera, or failure to provide sufficient evidence, will be sanctioned by FIAP, - that in case of sanctions following the non compliance with FIAP regulations, the name of the entrant will be released in any form useful to inform the breaches of the rules. As mentioned in II.2) it is recommended to leave the EXIF data in the submitted files intact in order to ease eventual investigations. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 2019v6.1.docx Pg.5 of 10

6 Entrants will also need to tick a box to consent to the following text to be allowed to enter: I hereby expressly agree to FIAP document 018/2017 Conditions and regulations for FIAP Patronage and FIAP document 017/2017 Sanctions for breaching FIAP regulations and the red list. I am particularly aware of chapter II Regulations for International photographic events under FIAP patronage of FIAP document 018/2017, dealing under Section II.2 and II.3 with the FIAP participation rules, the sanctions for breaching FIAP regulations and the red list. FIAP document 017/2017 FIAP document 018/2017 VIGEX reserves the right to forward to the Australian Photographic Society information on any breaches of the Conditions of Entry. The Australian Photographic Society may investigate such breaches in its own right and the Australian Photographic Society reserves the right to impose sanctions on entrants who are deemed to have repeatedly breached the Conditions of Entry of Australian Photographic Society approved exhibitions. NOTICE: When an entrant fills in the Entry Form to submit an entry the entrant will see a feature to affirm he or she has read these Conditions of Entry when he or she fills out the entry form. If the entrant does not so affirm the entry will not be submitted. Data Protection: By entering this exhibition, you are explicitly consenting to the personal details you have supplied, including addresses, being held, processed and used by the exhibition organizers for purposes associated with this exhibition. You also explicitly consent to such information being sent to organizations that have accorded official recognition, patronage or accreditation to this exhibition. You acknowledge and accept that entering this exhibition means that the status and results of your entry may be made public. Awards 76 awards. Plaque: Most Successful Youth Entrant - awarded to the entrant aged between 16 years and under 21 years on the salon closing date who achieves the highest total number of acceptances across all sections of the salon. All salon images will be judged together - youth images will not be judged separately. Declaration of date of birth on the salon entry form will be optional, but will be needed if an entrant wishes to be eligible for this award. Plaque and Feature page in catalogue: Most successful Australian Club Most successful Overseas Club Awarded to the Australian and Overseas clubs with the highest total number of acceptances across all sections of the salon (minimum 3 entrants). 7 Definitions All entries shall conform to the stricter of the following definitions for acceptances to be validated by all the organizations granting recognition or patronage. MONOCHROME OPEN PSA Definition An image is considered to be Monochrome only if it gives the impression of having no color (i.e. contains only shades of gray which can include pure black and pure white) OR it gives the impression of being a greyscale image that has been toned in one color across the entire image. (For example by Sepia, red, gold, etc.) A greyscale or multi-colored image modified or giving the impression of having been modified by partial toning, multi-toning or by the inclusion of spot coloring does not meet the definition of monochrome and shall be classified as a Color Work. FIAP Definition A black and white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey (white) is a monochrome work with the various shades of grey. A black and white work toned entirely in a single colour will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black and white category; such a work can be reproduced in black and white in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP Patronage. On the other hand a black and white work modified by a partial toning or by the addition of one colour becomes a colour work (polychrome) to stand in the colour category; such a work requires colour reproduction in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP Patronage. COLOUR OPEN (Colour only) This section accepts all images which do not meet the definitions of monochrome above. Monochrome images will not be accepted into the Colour Open section. NATURE (Monochrome or Colour) PSA & FIAP Definition Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archaeology, in such a fashion that a well-informed person will be able to identify the subject material and certify its honest presentation. The story telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except where those human elements are integral parts of the nature story such as nature subjects, like barn owls or storks, adapted to an environment modified by humans, or where those human elements are in situations depicting natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves. Scientific bands, scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals are permissible. Photographs of human created hybrid plants, cultivated plants, feral animals, domestic animals, or mounted specimens are ineligible, as is any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement. No techniques that add, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content, or without altering the content of the original scene, are permitted including HDR, focus stacking and dodging/burning. Techniques that remove elements added by the camera, such as dust spots, digital noise, and film scratches, are allowed. Stitched images are not permitted. All allowed adjustments must appear natural. Colour images can be converted to greyscale monochrome (not toned). Infrared images, either direct- captures or derivations, are not allowed. Images entered in Nature sections meeting the Nature Photography Definition above can have landscapes, geologic formations, weather phenomena, and extant organisms as the primary subject CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 2019v6.1.docx Pg.7 of 10

8 matter. This includes images taken with the subjects in controlled conditions, such as zoos game farms, botanical gardens, aquariums and any enclosure where the subjects are totally dependent on man for food. CREATIVE (Colour only) Creative means Altered Reality. A creative image may be of any subject matter and must look unrealistic, typically by displaying a change in natural colour or form or shape or any combination of these three. High Dynamic Range (HDR) images without further changes are not considered altered reality. The original image must be made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or captured digitally. All images must be original and may not incorporate any elements produced by anyone else. All adaption and alteration of original images must be by the entrant. Artwork, computer graphics generated by the entrant and 3rd party software processing may be incorporated. There are no limits to the degree of unusual or post-capture processing of these images provided that all work and images are by the entrant and the original photographic content predominates and is identifiable. Images may not be constructed entirely within a computer the submitted work must remain photography and not digital art done only with the computer. Good creative images will surprise the viewer with their originality of expression, their uniqueness, their imaginative content and the skill and sophistication in the techniques used. They should exhibit a high level of artistic quality. Images will be judged for both their photographic and technical merit. Monochrome images and non-creative images will not be accepted into the Creative section. PHOTO TRAVEL (Monochrome or Colour) A Photo Travel image expresses the characteristic features or culture of a land as they are found naturally. There are no geographic limitations. Images from events or activities arranged specifically for photography, or of subjects directed or hired for photography are not appropriate. Close up pictures of people or objects must include features that provide information about the environment. Techniques that add, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted. The only allowable adjustments are removal of dust or digital noise, restoration of the appearance of the original scene, and complete conversion to greyscale monochrome. Other derivations, including infrared, are not permitted. All images must appear natural. DIFFERENCES IN SOCIETY (Colour Only) People have many differences. Some that are commonly referred to are: gender, ethnicity, class, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion, health, wealth and employment. This is not a complete list. Around the world, these differences affect the way in which people live their lives and participate in their societies. This section asks for images, which are true reflections of lived experience, that illustrate these differences and the impact they have on human life in the modern world. 9 Accepted entries will be eligible for the following Photographic Honours: FIAP Distinctions - AFIAP, EFIAP, EFIAP/b, EFIAP/s, EFIAP/g, EFIAP/p, EFIAP/d1, EFIAP/d2, EFIAP/d3 and club awards CAFIAP and CEFIAP. APS Honours exhibition system for LAPS, AAPS, FAPS, MAPS, GMAPS, APSEM and for inclusion in the annual APS "Who's Who" of Australian Photography. PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY OF AMERICA All entrants in PSA Recognized Exhibitions must provide name and country data exactly the same in each exhibition entered to receive proper credit for Star ratings and for inclusion in the annual PSA "Who's Who" of photography. Valid acceptances received by PSA members in this exhibition are eligible for credit towards the PSA Distinctions of PPSA, EPSA, MPSA, GMPSA, GMPSA/b, GMPSA/s, GMPSA/g and GMPSA/p. All acceptance eligibility shall be in accordance with the PPD Star Ratings or the Galaxy/Diamond Ratings requirements as appropriate. MONOCHROME OPEN - Acceptances shall be credited towards PPD Large Monochrome Print Star Ratings and "Who's Who" Monochrome listings. COLOR Open - Acceptances shall be credited towards PPD Large Color Print Star Ratings and "Who's Who" Color listings. NATURE - Acceptances shall be credited towards ND Star Ratings and "Who's Who" Nature listings. CREATIVE - Acceptances from this section shall be credited towards PPD Large Color Star Ratings and "Who's Who" Color listings. PHOTO TRAVEL - Acceptances shall be credited towards Photo Travel Star Ratings and "Who's Who" Travel listings. DIFFERENCES IN SOCIETY - Acceptances from this section shall be credited towards PPD Large Color Star Ratings and "Who's Who" Color listings. [PSA Members may wish to note that VIGEX will provide EDAS data to PSA by 16 th July, 2019] All entries shall conform to the stricter of these conditions and definitions for acceptances to be validated by all the International Organizations granting recognition or patronage. The submission of an entry to a VIGEX Salon signifies the acceptance of all conditions of entry.
