2 Introduction According to St. John Damascene, aer is the raising of one s mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God. aer is our connection to the the living God. It is an essential part of our atholic faith. It s important to teach our children ho to pra so that the, too, can communicate ith our loving God. Teaching them to pra involves shoing them both formal and informal praers. The purpose of this book is to help ou ith the former. The 21 x 28 posters in this book ill provide our child ith visual cues for learning some of the basic atholic praers. The artork is intended to be an inspiration to them as ell as a phsical representation of certain biblical ents and aspects of our faith. The can be hung up almost anhere in our home (or classroom); hoer, I suggest that ou hang them up in a place here our child can see them hen he pras. When helping our child learn the atholic praers, I suggest ou focus on one at a time so that he on t be too overhelmed. There are telve praers in this book. You ma ant to do one per month starting ith the shortest and easst (The Sign of the ross) and progressing to the longest and most difficult (Apostles reed). 4 Instructions for Assembl As shon at right, there are four tpes of pces that make up each poster: 1) one ith the image and a hite border on to sides, 2) one ith the image and a border on the bottom, 3) one ith the image and a border on one side, and 4) one ith just the image. Note that some sides of each pce have a solid gra line and others have just the edge of the image. Look carefull for these hen cutting out the pces so that ou don t accidentall cut off a section of the poster. When assembling each poster, the image portion of one pce ill be glued on t of the hite border of another. All but one of the pces are labeled ith letters. Use these letters as a guide hen assembling the game board as explained belo. Step 1: int the poster pages on printer paper. Step 2: ut out the pces. Step 3: Using the figure at right as a guide, assemble the individual pces in the folloing order: 1. Glue pce B on A. 2. Glue pce on B. 3. Glue pce E on D. 4. Glue pce F on E. 5. Glue pce H on G. 6.
