2 Project Pieces 85 BUFFALO HIDE PROJECT PIECES 149-PP PP PP PP PP-0404 These project pieces come from the hides of ranch-raised U.S. buffalo that were raised for food. The buffalo were not killed just for the hides. The skins are selected for quality and are professionally tanned in the northern U.S. They are from prime, winter skins selected in December and January of each year. The pieces come from the main body hair and are similar to the picture. The material is as soft and supple as is possible from such a thick skin. The hair on the hide measure approximately 1.5" to 2" long. These pieces can be used for a variety of craft items such as boots, purses, moccasins, pillows, and slippers. (Bison bison, ranch). Tibet lamb are also used for making dolls and Teddy Bears. They can be used to make Santa beards, troll hair, dance leggings, craft items, etc. The white skins are "creamy white." The natural color of the skins often has a yellowish hue to the color. As the skins have not been bleached, they often have varying degrees of "creaminess." The hair length is approximately 4" to 6" with the shortest hair along the spine. The hair does not go in one direction like a dog or cat's fur, but rather it falls in every direction. This is not a hollow hair, so it doesn't break or shed. Our Icelandic sheepskins are Eco-tanned without the use of heavy metals. The exact formulation is a trade-secret but the tanning meets European Union regulations for an environmentally friendly tanning process. (Ovis aries). Product of Iceland, Tanned in Poland REINDEER PROJECT PIECES The reindeer project pieces come from beautiful decorative reindeer hides from Finland, and they are available in different sizes. The tannery we have bought from for years does the best work in Scandinavia--which does the best work in the world with reindeer hides. The skins are clean and white on the back. The hair is approximately 1" to 2" long. The coloring will vary across the pieces. We will pick out a nice assortment for you. You do not get the exact selection shown in the photos above. These project pieces can be used for a multitude of different craft & decorative items. (Rangifer tarandus). SPRINGBOK PROJECT PIECES These springbok project pieces come from good quality #1 grade tanned springbok skins that are very clean with no rips, tears, and holes. They are available in different sizes. The coloring will vary from nearly all white to nearly all tan with different patterns. You will get a nice assortment of pieces. The hair side of the skins are quite nice. There may be minor imperfections on the hide side. These slight flaws are usually small holes that have been sewn shut or a slight rip that has been closed. These pieces are ideal for many craft projects including handbag accents, wallets, trim, etc. (Antidorcas marsupialis). Kalgan lambskin have curly hair, but they are not as tight as the Pearl Lamb. The hair is between 1" and 1½" long. The pieces are cut from topgrain elk leather. Heavy and durable, this leather is similar to moose leather. They are grainy and suitable for making moccasins or gloves, and can be used for projects needing leather that is sturdy, soft and pliable.
