4 LET S GET MAKING Tool kit 1 roll of WATG s Jersey Be Good or any scraps of jersey you might have! 1 Howl Collar pattern 1 sewing needle You will also need 1 release buckle clip, we suggest using size 5cm/2 x 3cm/1.2. These can be easily sourced on Amazon or similar. SIZING Dogs come in all different shapes and sizes, and so do their necks! So you can make the perfect fit collar for your doggo, we suggest you measure the circumference of their neck and then work in macrame until you reach this measurement. All macrame techniques can be found at the back of the pattern. Pssst! 5 HOW TO MAKE YOUR HOWL COLLAR The collar is made by attaching strands of yarn to a release buckle clip. These strands are then worked in macrame until you reach your desired length. The ends of the strands are then attached to the other end of the release buckle clip to complete the collar. 1 Cut 1 strand of yarn measuring 500cm/ If your dogs neck is bigger than 56cm you will need to make this length 550cm/ Cut 1 strand of yarn measuring 290cm/ If your dogs neck is bigger than 56cm you will need to make this length 350cm/ Secure your release buckle clip to a surface such as the edge of a table, this will make it easier to macrame! 6 4 Fold your shorter strand in half and make a cow hitch through slot 1 of your release buckle clip. 5 Take your longer strand and lay it down horizontally underneath your shorter strands, so that the strands cross at the midpoint (275cm/108.3 from the ends). You have now created strand A and strand B. A B 6 Take strand A and thread it through slot 1 from back to front. Repeat this for strand B. HELP! 6

7 7 Thread both A and B strands through slot 1 from front to back once more. Your 2 shorter strands are now your central strands and strands A and B are your outer strands. 8 Take your 4 strands and make a square knot. 9 Repeat step 7 until your macrame measures the desired length for your collar. 10 You will now attach your macrame to the other end of your release buckle clip. This end has 2 slots, slot 2 and slot 3 (see diagram in step 3). Thread one of the central strands from back to front through slot 2. Then thread this strand from front to back through slot Repeat step 10 with the other central strand. Tie both strands in a knot behind the release buckle clip. Weave in the two loose ends. 12 Thread one of the outer strands from back to front through slot 2. Then thread this strand from front to back through slot Repeat step 12 with the other outer strand. Tie both strands in a knot behind the release buckle clip. Weave in the two loose ends. 7 HOWL COLLAR

9 SQUARE KNOT 1 Bring A from right to left, over the middle strands and under B. 2 Now bring B under the two middle strands and through the loop formed by A. Pull on both A and B to tighten them. 3 Bring A from left to right, over the middle strands and under B. 4 Bring B under the two middle strands and through the new loop formed by A. 10 FINISHING TECHNIQUES Hiding your yarn ends / Ø Online video tutorial To hide the tail of your yarn, turn your work so the wrong side is facing you. Thread your sewing needle with the yarn end, and sew horizontally across your work, inserting needle and yarn underneath the back two strands of your crocheted stitches. Work like this for a few stitches, then move down a row and work back in the opposite direction. Finally, cut the yarn close to the fabric. HELP! 10
