UPHOLSTERY FABRICS The UK and Irish law requires that when a fabric is used for upholstery or loose covers, it must be treated with a suitable FR finish. The exception is if the fabric consists of at least 75% natural fibres, in this case it may be used untreated over an FR interliner that passes BS5852 Part 2 Ignition source 5. *8264 Specific Fabric Information The nap of velvet will flatten under pressure. This is not a fault of the fabric but usual in velvets. 16 WALLCOVERING SERVICE Virtually all of our wonderful silks can be paper backed. There is a minimum order of 20 metres per colour and an allowance of 10% should be added to the total meterage required. price for wallcoverings can be calculated by adding per metre to the chosen fabric trade price. Wallcoverings are supplied trimmed, if no width is specified the wallcovering will be 10cms narrower than the original width of the fabric. The lead time is 2 weeks from date of order as long as the fabric is in stock with James Hare. A water, soil and stain repellence treatment may be applied to the wallcovering on request. It will be treated with Duraseal and the lead time is an additional 1 week. Paperbacking is not recommended for horizontal stripes and checked fabrics. As we cannot guarantee that a paper backed fabric with a visible horizontal weave can be matched up when applied to the wall. This is due to the fabric being put under tension during the paper backing process which may result in the horizontal weave becoming distorted. Fabric will not be accepted back if this occurs. We strongly recommend that you use a professional fabric wallpaper hanger with plenty of experience of hanging silk wallcoverings. Contact details of experienced decorators are available from head office. It is important that your client is aware that the finished effect will be panelled and not seamless. As silk is a natural fibre there may be irregularities and variations which will be especially visible as the fabric is laid flat, in particular there may be variations in shade and weave which are characteristics of silk fabrics. Please examine carefully before hanging. Claims will not be accepted for any reason whatsoever after the silk has been hung by the customer, their staff, agents or decorators. 18 ORDER INFORMATION Our offices are open Monday until Friday between 9am and 5pm. The full James Hare range can be viewed on the website or at our central office in Leeds located just ten minutes walk from the railway station. We have a team of interior agents covering the UK. If you would like to arrange an appointment please telephone the Leeds office. 1. MINIMUM ORDERS There is a NO minimum order policy. 2. PRICE GUARANTEE s can only be guaranteed for the month quoted on the price list. We reserve the right to increase prices without prior notice. This PDF pricelist version will be the price reference in any dispute. 3. RETURNABLE SAMPLES We are happy to send out returnable samples, which are available on loan for 30 days, if not returned within this date an invoice will be raised. Samples returned after this date will not be refunded. Only 6 returnable samples are allowed to be outstanding at any one time. It is recommended that the package be returned to us by recorded delivery. 4. STOCK CUTTINGS We are always happy to supply stock cuttings, please contact us. This is particularly recommended when selecting hand woven silks. Should you require your order to be supplied from the same dye batch as the cutting supplied it is essential that part of the cutting is returned to us with your order. Your order must also be clearly marked to match stock cutting enclosed. If this is not done we cannot be held responsible for supplying pieces from another dye batch, no claims will be accepted. Should you wish to reserve any fabric from stock cuttings it can be reserved for 7 days. If no confirmation that the goods are required is received within 7 days the fabric will automatically be released back into stock. 5. RETURNS At James Hare we aim to give an immaculate service. Obviously this extends to instances where, for whatever reason, you feel that you would like to send your goods back for an exchange or refund. We will always accept returns within 30 days of invoice date providing the relevant correspondence, invoice or delivery note is enclosed with the parcel. The fabrics must be uncut and in the same state as they were received. A collection service is available, contact our office to arrange this. However, examine carefully before cutting. Claims will not be accepted for any reason whatsoever after the customer, their staff, agents or makers up, has cut the fabric. No claims will be accepted in respect of any costs of making up. ADDITIONAL SERVICES AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS 1. CHARACTERISTICS OF SILK AND SPECIAL CARE Silk is a unique natural fibre combining toughness, elasticity, resilience, warmth and coolness as well as an affinity to dye. Its versatility is evident in a richness and variety of colours and textures that cannot be reproduced in other fabrics. As a natural fibre there may be certain irregularities or variations in shade or weave which are hallmark characteristics of silk. These fabrics do require special care as they can easily mark even with water including perspiration and rain. Great care should be taken when cleaning and instructions followed closely. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct light as this may lead to loss of colour. For example we strongly advise lining and interlining and use of tiebacks where possible to protect the leading edges if making curtains. It is not advisable to use silk fabric for curtains or blinds in bathrooms due to repeated exposure to high levels of moisture. Do not keep silk or silk garments in plastic covers for any period of time as this will lead to discolouration. 2. DRY CLEANING These fabrics may be cleaned satisfactorily in perchlorethylene using the sensitive process of dry cleaning, but as with all silk fabrics care must be taken during stain removal and finishing treatments. This is with the exception of ranges using metallic thread and beaded cushions which are not suitable for dry cleaning. 3. FABRIC FAULTS These are known as strings in the trade and are marked on the selvedge to indicate a fault in the fabric. An appropriate allowance is made in the to compensate but please note that we cannot accept responsibility if the fabric containing the string is then cut, although we will always accept return of the uncut piece if it cannot be used. 4. FLAME RETARDANT SERVICE A flame retardant service is available for contract orders from a UKAS accredited flammability laboratory. The price is 5.00 per metre. There is a minimum order for the FR service of The lead time is days from the date of confirmation. An additional ½ metre per quality must be purchased for testing before the fabric is processed. The fabric may shrink by up to 5% this should be taken into consideration when placing the order. The handle of the fabric may stiffen slightly, samples of the flame retardant fabrics are available on request. 17
