Research Icons Collaboration Movement The design language of the research icons are meant to be fun but professional. I took the first concepts that came to mind and turned them into a descriptive visual that helps to illustrate what the research concept is about.
Research Icons Accessibility Haptics Health Health The design language of the research icons are meant to be fun but professional. I took the first concepts that came to mind and turned them into a descriptive visual that helps to illustrate what the research concept is about.
Research Icons Wearable Computing Collaboration Online Communities Search The design language of the research icons are meant to be fun but professional. I took the first concepts that came to mind and turned them into a descriptive visual that helps to illustrate what the research concept is about.
Headshots This headshot layout incorporates the ISRC and UMBC Colors. The design language is professional but fun. The teal color helps to make the page stand out and the white boxes around the image gives the design a portrait feel. This is a flat design.
Powerpoint The powerpoint template has a professional and modern feel in order to show user's that this research center will help with their professional career. The ISRC logo is placed at the bottom of each slide so that users always know what research group the presenter is from.
Title Interactive Systems Research Center Interactive Systems Research Center I put emphasis on Interactive System by putting these terms on the same line and increasing it's size. I did this because this is how user's will know what this research center is about. The first logo is used for external marketing. The bright colors are used to grab user's attention and stand out against other research centers. The second logo is for internal marketing. It has more of a professional and modern feel so show user's that this research center will help with their professional career.
Acronyms ISRC RC IS The first logo is used for external marketing. The bright colors are used to grab user's attention and stand out against other research centers. The second logo is for internal marketing. It has more of a professional and modern feel so show user's that this research center will help with their professional career.
Mission Statement The ISRC acts as a bridge for faculty across the UMBC campus with expertise in designing, building, or studying uses of interactive computing systems. It facilitates the sharing of resources and experience in solving computing problems from a user-centered perspective grounded in user needs and not in simply applying previously designed solutions to new domains. The design language for the internal ISRC mission statement is professional yet modern and fun. I used the green accent color to highlight important verbs in order to help users understand what the ISRC is about.
Identity System Collaboration Health Accessibility Health Movement The ISRC acts as a bridge for faculty across the UMBC campus with expertise in designing, building, or studying uses of interactive computing systems. Haptics Online Communities Wearable Computing Search Collaboration Interactive Systems Research Center It facilitates the sharing of resources and experience in solving computing problems from a user-centered perspective grounded in user needs and not in simply applying previously designed solutions to new domains. Ravi Kuber Accessibility Wayne Lutters ISRC Director / UMBC Information Systems Department Interative Systems Research Center Movement Health Wearable Computing Haptics Ravi Kuber's research examines the ways that touch- based (haptic) technologies can be used to support interaction with an interface, when the user's visual channel is blocked or restricted. He has designed haptic and multimodal interfaces to supportindividuals who are blind and older adults to overcome the barriers faced when accessing graphical user interfaces. He has also examined ways to develop tactile feedback to augment the mobile interaction experience and to heighten levels of situational awareness. Othe r areas of interest include applying non-visual technologies to address the trade-offs associated with authentication and using BCI and gestures to support communication. He received his Ph.D. from Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland, and M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees from University College London, UK lutters@umbc.edu Website: ~lutters/ Interactive Systems Research Center Accessibility Rehabilitation Haptics Movement WearableComputing Health Wayne Lutters Interative Systems Research Center ISRC Director & Associate Professor Information Systems Department ITE Hilltop Circle Baltimore, MD /18/2015 This design language for the identity system is supposed to be informative, modern and visual. Instead of using any text, I decided to use an identity system that illustrates what the research is about with a limited amount of graphics. The identity system represents collaboration, research, and interactive systems.
T-Shirts The first t-shirt design puts the ISRC logo in the middle of two circles. This is supposed to give the shirt a superman/superwoman feel. The teal color at the bottom of the shirt around around the collar help to eliminate white space. The user's profession type would appear on the sleeves. The design language of the second shirt is meant to be funny yet truthful and sporty. The shirt uses a gray and teal colorblock. The profession type is on the back of the shirt similar to a jersey.
Website This layout of this website is meant to be engaging and informative. There are many visuals to help break up the text. There is a hero space so that the ISRC is able to feature content that is appropriate for their user base. I included the icons so that new users know what projects the ISRC focuses on. The faculty page has a layout that is scalable. Faculty on one side and Post Docs and PhD Students on the other side.
Mission Statement The ISRC also acts as a bridge to industry, community, and organizations in order to foster long-standing relationships in addressing user needs through interactive computing solutions. Through the center, external collaborators can seamlessly work with a mix of expertise to innovate interactive computing solutions of societal importance. The design language for the external ISRC mission statement is youthful and attention grabbing. I used a bright blue and green color to stand out against other research centers. The green color highlights phrases that describe the ISRC..
