2 CONFERENCE SPEAKERS Wayne Abernathy, EVP for Financial Institutions Policy and Regulatory Affairs, ABA Mr. Abernathy joined the ABA in 2005, where he oversees ABA groups that deal with policy development, regulatory and compliance issues, bank supervision and resolution, securities and investment, wealth management, derivatives policy, and risk management. Wayne has a bachelor s degree in International Financial and Monetary Policy from The Johns Hopkins University and a master s degree in International Studies from the School of Advanced International Studies from The Johns Hopkins University. Neal Barclay, CRCM, AMLP, Compliance Specialist/Auditor, Kansas Bankers Association Mr. Barclay joined the KBA in 2017 as a compliance specialist and auditor. He has worked in multiple banks and has nearly 30 years of experience in compliance, BSA, and mortgage/ consumer lending. Neal has a bachelor s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Economics from Pittsburg State University. Lance Caldwell, Managing Director, Promontory Interfinancial Network Mr. Caldwell joined Promontory Interfinancial Network in 2004 as a Business Development Advisor and most recently served as Regional Director for Missouri and Kansas. He is responsible for supervising a team of regional directors who provide strategic balance sheet management solutions for financial institutions across Middle America. He previously served as a Managing Examiner for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and a lending officer for FHLBank Topeka. Craig Collins, President, OneBeacon Financial Services Mr. Collins joined OneBeacon as President of Financial Services in He has more than 30 years of experience in the banking and insurance industry and has worked with financial services risks across the United States. Craig also spent time with Global Financial Risks at Lloyds of London. He has published articles in national, regional, and state banking association magazines. Chris Nichols, Chief Strategy Officer, CenterState Bank Mr. Nichols has 25 plus years of banking experience, is an active bank investor, small business owner, entrepreneur and a frequent speaker and author on a multitude of banking topics. Prior to CenterState Bank, he was President/CEO of PCBB Capital Markets and helped found FinancialOxygen, a banking technology company. Chris holds a degree in economics from the University of California. James Olson, Former Chief of CIA Counterintelligence Mr. Olson is a career officer in the Directorate of Operations of the Central Intelligence Agency, serving mostly overseas in clandestine operations. He previously served as Chief of Counterintelligence at CIA Headquarters in Langley, Virginia, having had overseas assignments in the USSR, Austria, and Mexico. Dale Pfeifer, Central States Capital Markets Dr. Ed Seifried, Professor Emeritus of Economics and Business, Lafayette College; Seifried & Brew In addition to his teaching duties at Lafayette College, Dr. Seifried serves as the dean of the Virginia and West Virginia Schools and has served on the faculty of numerous banking schools including Stonier Graduate School of Banking and the Graduate School of Banking of the South. Dr. Ed frequently appears as a guest speaker at regional and national conferences and has delivered over 2500 economic presentations to various groups. Dylan Serrault, JD, Staff Attorney/Compliance Auditor, Kansas Bankers Association Mr. Serrault began his banking career by studying finance at the University of Kansas. After graduating, he went to work for a Kansas financial institution before leaving to study law at Washburn University, where he earned his J.D. Dylan currently focuses on assisting Kansas banks with compliance related issues and completing compliance audits throughout Kansas. Karen Shannon, Human Resources & Business Consulting Director, Ollis/Akers/Arney Ms. Shannon has served in senior leadership positions in banking and human resources for over 25 years. She and her team provided HR services to 5,000 employees across the US, United Kingdom, India and Mexico. Today, she works with over 100 clients in the Midwest on key business and HR strategies which have resulted in cost savings upward of $7 million. Karen received her MBA and BA in Business Administration and Economics from Drury University. Steve Twersky, CPA Executive Vice President, FTN Financial Mr. Twersky joined FTN Financial in 1984 and is responsible for managing the full depository institution support platform. As manager of the Portfolio Strategies Group, he assists clients with all aspects of investment portfolio and balance sheet management including regulatory, tax, and accounting issues. Steve is a frequent speaker at banking and investment conferences around the country. He holds a bachelor s degree from Indiana University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
