In 2005, the firm launched New Perimeter, a nonprofit affiliate dedicated to international pro bono work. In the first two years, signature projects have included assisting the UN Peacekeeping Mission in the development of legal systems in Kosovo; advising the Global Fund on risk assessment and risk management issues in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria; assisting in the creation of the Southern Africa Litigation Centre in Johannesburg; and promoting food distribution by creating the Global FoodBanking Network. In 2006, attorneys and employees contributed more than 120,000 hours to pro bono work with an estimated value of approximately 50 million dollars.
