1 Adeline Stephanie Martinez Secretary Adeline S. Martinez, Serial No. E8238, has completed 31 years and four months of dedicated service to the people of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Police Department, culminating with her retirement on June 18, 2011; and Adeline S. Martinez was appointed to the City Of Los Angeles on February 17, 1980, and has demonstrated outstanding professional conduct in keeping with the highest standards of a civil servant while engaged in the following assignments; Clerk Typist at Public Works, Management Employment Services, Department of Water and Power, Police Civilian, Medical Liaison Section, Claims Validation Unit & Drug Testing Unit, Administrative Investigations Section and Personnel Division; Promotion to Sr. Clerk Typist at Human Resources Bureau, Juvenile Division, and Los Angeles Police Commission; Promotion to Secretary at Bureau of Engineering, Structural Engineering Division, Civil Rights Integrity Division, and Gang Operations Support Division/Gang and Narcotics Division; and Adeline S. Martinez has been evaluated by her supervisors as an extremely conscientious employee. Her work production, job knowledge and personal qualities exemplify the attitude and performance of a truly dedicated and professional employee. Adeline also possesses outstanding interpersonal skills and has the unique ability to interact with all of her coworkers as well as her supervisors; and Adeline S. 2 Rangoli Foundation for Art and Culture it is with great pleasure that we congratulate the RANGOLI FOUNDATION FOR ART AND CULTURE upon its 25th anniversary; the RANGOLl FOUNDATION FOR ART AND CULTURE was established in 1985 by Malathi Iyengar to present visual and performing arts of India; and in India, the visual art Rangoli symbolizes beauty, hope and tradition, and this symbolism was the inspiration for naming the RANGOLI FOUNDATION FOR ART AND CULTURE; and the RANGOLI FOUNDATION FOR ART AND CULTURE has presented numerous dance performances, festivals, music concerts, guest artists, visual arts exhibits, and master classes since its opening; and the mission of the RANGOLI FOUNDATION FOR ART AND CULTURE has been to develop cultural awareness and inter-cultural dialogue through dance, music, theater, and visual arts; and the RANGOLI FOUNDATION FOR ART AND CULTURE has been recognized for its contributions and has been supported by Alliance for the Arts, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, Inter Arts Grant Program, Alliance for California Traditional Artists, California Council for the Humanities, National Endowment for the Arts, California Folk Arts Regranting Program, and james Irvine Foundation; and the RANGOLI FOUNDATION FOR ART AND CULTURE often brings renowned tradition bearers, dancers and musicians from India to the United States to work with company artists; and in August 2004, the RANGOLI FOUNDATION FOR ART AND CULTURE published Malathi Iyengar's first book, "Dance and Devotion"; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that by the adoption of this resolution, the City Council of the City of Los Angeles hereby commends and congratulates the RANGOLI FOUNDATION FOR ART AND CULTURE for its dedicated service to the citizens of the City of Los Angeles and wishes it many more years of continued success in presenting visual and performing arts of India. 3 John Wooten John Wooten was born on December 5, 1936 in Riverview, Texas, and attended Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, New Mexico and is a graduate of the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado with a Bachelor of Science Degree; and When the Cleveland Browns selected John Wooten in the 1959 National Football League (NFL) Draft, it proved to be one of the most important drafts in Cleveland Browns history. He played for the Cleveland Browns from and then the Washington Redskins from and during the off seasons from , he wasa junior high school teacher at Addison Junior High School in Cleveland, Ohio; and John has been involved with the NFL for 44 years and served as Director of Pro Sports Advisors (Agent for Professional Athletes ); Player Personnel (Cowboys ); Director of Pro Personnel (Cowboys ); Creator/Director of Player Programs (NFL ) Player Personnel (Eagles ); Vice President Player Personnel (Eagles ); Assistant Director ofpro/collegescouting (Ravens ), Consultant-Player Personnel (Ravens until he retired in 2004) and is President of Wooten Printing, Inc. in Dallas, Texas; and John is considered the "Architect of the NFL 's Rooney Rule" and his on-thefield honors include, Associated Press All-Big Seven; All American Honors at Offensive Guard at the University of Colorado in 1958; named to the Chicago Tribune's College All Star Game in 1959; Sporting News NFL All Star Team in 1965; named to the NFL Pro Bowl teams in 1966 and 1967; Cleveland Browns All-Time All Star Team, named to University of Colorado's All Century Football Team; inducted into the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame Inductee in 2002; Hall of Fame inductee with the University of Colorado in October 2004; Honored Jersey with the University of Colorado in September 2005; and has three World Championships- Browns -1964, Cowboys and Ravens in 2000; and John has a deep commitment to the community he has lived in and understands the value of giving back. He serves on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers and is a Member ofthe City Planning Commission in Cleveland, Ohio; has been awarded the William 0. Walker Community Excellence Honoree in 2002 and was a member of the National Minority Economic Development Council under the Johnson Administration; and The Urban Football Coaches Clinic (UFCA) has named an award in Mr. Wooten's honor to be presented annually to other stellar coaches for whom he have paved the way; John is married to Juanita (Nita) and has three children, Gina, Lynette, John David and three grandchildren, Lauren, Gabriel, and Michael. 4 - JUAN CASTILLO Juan Castillo a native of Port Isabel, Texas, is in his 17th season with the Philadelphia Eagles and was named defensive coordinator on February 2, 2011, after spending the last 13 years as the team's offensive line coach; and Mr. Castillo began his amateur football career as a linebacker with Texas A&M-Kingsville (formerly Texas A&I) and the United States Football League's San Antonio Gunslingers; and began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater before spending on the staff at Kingsville (TX) High School; and his work as an offensive line coach at Texas A&M caught the eye of former Eagles coach Ray Rhodes' who recruited him on March 1, 1995 as an offensive assistant, a post he held until being promoted to tight ends coach in One year later, Castillo became the club's offensive line coach; and Juan Castillo credits his mother Juanita for inspiring his strong work ethic, desire to succeed and give back to others; and is highly regarded in the world of professional football and known for cultivating a strong foundation for linemen and a penchant for developing undrafted players into solid NFL Starters; and Juan Castillo is proud to be one of a few coaches in the National Football League of Hispanic descent, and has done work for the NFL in promoting the game for its Spanish-speaking audience; and Mr. Castillo will be honored at the 20th Almiversary of the Urban Football Coaches Association with their First Almual John Wooten Award; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Los Angeles City Council honors Juan Castillo for his many years of dedicated service and commitment to the Philadelphia Eagles, and for the strong impact he has made on the men nuder his tutelage, and wishes him continued success. 5 Hue Jackson Hue Jackson was born October 22, 1965 and is a Los Angeles native who was a star quarterback at Dorsey High School where he also lettered in basketball; and.,,;qp JaJJuar)r ~ 7, 2'Q1 ):;Jaqkso,n was named head coach of the National Football Leag(le's (NFL) Oakland Raiders, after previously serving as the team's offensive coordinator in 201 0; and Before joining Oakland, Jackson served as an offensive assistant coach for several NFL teams, most notably as the offensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins, and helping the Baltimore Ravens advance to the postseason in as their quarterback coach. In 2007, he was named offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons; and ' From , under Jackson's tutelage in Cincinnati, Chad Ochocinco and T.J. Houshmandzadeh became one of the most prolific wide-receiving tandems in NFL history, helping the team secure the AFC North title in 2005 and a playoff berth for the first time in a decade; and In 2003, Jackson was promoted to.offensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins by Head Coach Steve Spurrier, handling the team's offensive playcalling, becoming the only coach to perform that duty other than Spurrier; and In 2002, Jackson served as a running back coach at the University of Southern California (USC); as offensive coordinator from and as Cal State Fullerton's offensive coordinator, where in 1996 Jackson helped lead the Golden Bears to an Aloha Bowl berth; and From , Jackson coached running backs at Arizona State and in 1995 was a minority intern fellowship coach in training camp with the Washington Redskins; with the Arizona Cardinals in I 992; with the L.A.
