2 Biz Buzz Indian I.T. services market grew 7.1% in 2014, growth to accelerate through 2019: IDC The Indian I.T. services market grew 7.1% to reach $7.7 billion in 2014, according to consultancy IDC India. It was helped by higher demand for cloud infrastructure and cloud-hosted applications and a renewed focus on infrastructure projects. The consultancy expects growth to accelerate to about 11% in rupee terms from 2014 to In 2014, the total I.T. outsourcing services market grew at 6.8% during the same period while support & training services grew at 6.5%. Indian I.T. services companies lagging in the next big thing Social Business Advantage Mobile Indian I.T. companies are looking to build up their presence in the social, mobile, analytics and cloud (SMAC) space, but they have a long way to go to catch up with their global outsourcing peers when it comes to offering elements of these new technologies to clients. Infosys Ltd. gets 8% of its $8.7 billion revenue from offering solutions to clients in the SMAC or digital space, a relatively small percentage when compared to global outsourcing giant Accenture Plc, which gets a fifth of its $30 billion revenue from client spending in that area. 3 HR Fundas India s I.T. behemoths revamp culture to attract young talent, battle start-ups India s oldest and most distinguished I.T. firms are doing what would have been almost sacrilegious a few years ago holding coding marathons to develop innovative fixes and deploying commando units to resolve clients I.T. woes within hours. Infosys, Wipro and other Indian I.T. giants, which rose to prominence during the outsourcing boom in the 1990s and 2000s, have struggled to keep pace with mushrooming start-ups. These young set-ups say they go beyond cookiecutter solutions and argue that they do the job more quickly and for less. They also attract the crème de la crème of India s engineering graduates with their culture of bubble chairs, breakfast bars and table tennis at work. I.T., ITeS companies to have about 2.3 lakh fresh recruitments this fiscal Fresh recruitments by the Indian I.T. and ITeS companies will be in the range of 2.3 lakh during the current financial year, a top functionary of Nasscom said today. BVR Mohan Reddy, chairman of I.T. and ITeS industry body Nasscom, said "There will be intake in this financial year. Last year the fresh intake was 2.3 lakhs engineers what we recruited. We anticipate the number would be roughly in the same range. We also see at this point of time productivity and efficiency increase and more amount of automation took place. 4 Tech Talk TCS to train 1,00,000 employees in digital technologies this year Tata Consultancy Services, India's largest I.T. services company, expects to train 1,00,000 employees in digital technologies as it gears up for fast growth in the space. At the company's twentieth annual general body meeting, Chief Executive N Chandrasekaran said the company was backing its 'digital is default' strategy with a large investment in technology and training.
