Buczkowski Director, Electrical and Electronics Systems, Research and Advanced Engineering Jim Buczkowski is a Henry Ford Technical Fellow and Director, Electrical and Electronics Systems Research and Advanced Engineering. He is responsible for the research and design of electrical and electronic systems including in-car information and entertainment, telematics, driver information, and active safety systems for Ford vehicles globally. An in-demand speaker with a knack for engaging his audience, Buczkowski spoke at the Intel Labs Summit in March and gave a keynote address at this year s Microsoft Global High-Tech Summit on Ford s Sync system. These forums bring together leaders in their field to speak about how technology trends will impact future experiences as well as how successful strategies resonate with customer needs. Buczkowski also leads the Electrical System Group within SAE International s Motor Vehicle Council, helping to develop standards for current and emerging technologies. Also with SAE he serves on the Convergence Mobility Council and both leads and supports a couple technical sessions at the Convergence Automotive Electronics event held bi-annually. Buczkowski has been with Ford for 33 years and has experience in electronics design, electronics manufacturing (including manufacturing assignments in Spain as well as the United States), Product Development quality, and manufacturing and supply chain information technology. 6 Distinguished Panelist Ralf Lenninger Senior Vice President Interior Electronics Solutions Interior Division Ralf Lenninger was born in Trier in He completed a degree in electrical engineering/telecommunication engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Trier, and then studied to become an industrial engineer. After leaving university, he started his professional career as a development and application engineer in the Siemens Infineon division in Munich in Here he focused on designing microcontrollers. In 1986, he switched to Microcontroller Product Marketing for the automotive industry, and here formed part of the team which developed the Microcontroller world standard. In January 1988, he joined Siemens automotive technology, the then automotive division of Siemens in Regensburg. Here he was in charge of building up business in product marketing for the chassis business field. In August 1996, he moved to Portugal with his family where he took on the role of CEO of the Siemens subsidiary, Indelma/Lisbon, with the production and delivery of complete cabling systems for the automotive industry. In September 2000, he was appointed CEO of the Mexican Siemens subsidiary AMESA/Puebla in Mexico. In February 2002, he took on the role of manager of the electric motors activities branch of Siemens VDO in Würzburg. In April 2006, he was appointed Sales Director for the VW Group, headquartered in Wolfsburg. Following the takeover of Siemens VDO by Continental in 2007, he took on responsibility for system development, innovation and strategy in the Interior division. 8 Distinguished Panelist Sterling Pratz CEO & Co-Founder Autonet Mobile, Inc Sterling Pratz is Autonet Mobile s CEO and Co-Founder. Mr. Pratz pioneered the first automotive factory OE WiFi connectivity system for cars that has ultimately begun replacing the DVD player with several of the world s largest automotive manufacturers. It was Pratz s telematics strategy and vision that spearheaded and secured OEM partnerships for Autonet Mobile with General Motors, Chrysler Fiat Group, Penske, Verizon, Maserati, and Mercedes to name a few. Pratz s deep understanding of the global carrier marketplace has enabled additional strategic partnerships with companies like Sprint, Option Wireless, and others. Under Mr. Pratz s leadership over the past eight years, Autonet Mobile has been awarded 4 patents concentrated on vehicle connectivity over mobile IP, thus building the foundation for new technologies, applications, and products focused within the automotive industry. Mr. Pratz is a former professional racecar driver and successful executive for Fortune 500 companies Xerox and Computer Associates, and INW. Mr. Pratz extensive relationships in the professional racing circuit and automobile industry is instrumental in developing Autonet s business strategy across automotive and retail channels.
