Welcome: John Hansen gave a warm welcome to the group. III. The May 15, 2017 meeting minutes were approved as written with no objections or changes. Financial Report: Kenny Dean reported the bank balances of: Beginning Balance (Through 05/15/2017): $9, Ending Balance (Through 06/19/2017): $9, Debits totaling $ included the annual Post Office box rental fee of $75 and $ for the Board of Directors strategy and appreciation dinner.

2 IV. Old Business: a. Website Update ( Dolly Moore reported that there has not been many changes in the website and that it is up and running well. Dolly encouraged all to utilize the features available to the members on the website and stay tuned to the calendar of events. b. Membership Update: Dolly Moore confirmed membership count at 39 total with 26 paid members, 11 Ex-Officio members and 3 comp d members. Also noted is news that Freeport McMoRan, a global natural resources company with headquarters in Phoenix, AZ and the world s largest publicly traded copper producer is interested in becoming a KAMMA member. c. Training Update: John Hansen distributed copies of s between himself and Cory Comer, marketing manager for Heitek Automation. Heitek is looking to bring automation training to Kingman in August at approximately $119 per person. This is a very welcomed resource for companies in our area looking to train staff in programmed logic controllers. John encouraged anyone interested in this training to contact him and make plans to fill the class. Mary Mendola reminded the group that candidates might qualify for WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) funds that could offset the cost of the class by 50% and encouraged the group to consider this resource. John distributed a copy of an from Jason Gee, Associate Dean of Instruction, CTE Programs for Mohave Community College (MCC) that described a positive result of participation by Dr. Mike Kearns and John Hansen in a recent Technology Corridor Project meeting. The project is focused on aligning cooperation between multiple organizations and colleges to leverage abilities to get critical manufacturing training available and bolster the potential for success of manufacturing in our state. MCC has made a commitment to partner with other Arizona colleges to work to bring a higher level of education to our area utilizing programs that have been established and proven. John commended MCC for their approach to the opportunity and expressed appreciation for their efforts. John described how partnerships between manufacturing companies, colleges and high schools in Tucson are graduating NIMS (National Institute of Metalworking Skills) certified machinists right out of high school. John expressed the dire need for our community to find the way to emulate the successes of our southern Arizona manufacturing neighbors. John suggested this be a vital topic in the upcoming economic development project with Arizona Town Hall. As an action item, John Hansen, Bruce Forthun and Scott Brackett will attend the August meeting of the WAVE/JTED Board and share the information being learned from attendance of the recent SAMP meetings. Southern Arizona Manufacturing Partners (SAMP) is an industry-led initiative, partnering with education and the public sector, to develop the manufacturing workforce of the future. (

New Business The second action item is to send an to the KAMMA mailing list to appeal for attendance and participation in the GenK ( project to help our manufacturing community have a greater voice in the future economic development effort. John encouraged all to participate in this dynamic event. Mayor Gates explained how the survey for the Generation Kingman project was developed and offered gratitude to Lake Havasu City for sharing their questions and content relative to their work with the Arizona Town Hall group in the recent past while working through a similar project of economic development. There was lengthy discussion within the attending group about the opportunities that the GenK project will allow our community. d. Announcement of Elections for the Board of Directors: John Hansen announced to the group that positions of President, Director of Membership and Secretary have been filled for the next term by the incumbent directors due to the lack of nomination of any other candidates. The positions of the five directors are staggered to avoid complete turnover of directorship in any one year. John thanked the Board for their continued work in the organization. a. US Representative Paul Gosar Upcoming visit to Kingman, AZ: Gregg Martin explained that Representative Paul Gosar would be visiting Kingman October 16 th and would like to visit a couple of local businesses as well as have a roundtable discussion with local manufacturing leaders. October 16 th is the third Monday and the regular monthly KAMMA meeting is scheduled for that day. There was discussion of moving the time back to later in the day to accommodate Representative Gosar the opportunity to attend our meeting. John Hansen offered to coordinate with Penny Pew to organize a productive visit with Mr. Gosar. b. Dawn Darby Town Hall Workshop Launch Kingman - Update: Discussed in agenda item IV c. c. River Valley Medical CPR Challenge Review & Discussion on Additional Training: Dolly Moore reported that the recent CPR Challenge was a great success. There were many companies welcoming the River Medical group in their businesses to train employees on compression only CPR. It was noted that approximately 6 companies desired to have the training but were not able to get scheduled before the deadline. Dolly is working with Chuck Waalkens to arrange bringing the training to those companies. d. Transit Committee Update / Discussion on Matrix: John Hansen explained the details of what the Transit Committee is doing to understand the demand and need of the Industrial Park tenants for use of the KART (Kingman Area Regional Transit) bus system. John described the development of a matrix to define the need accurately. The committee is scheduled to meet before the next KAMMA meeting.

MFG Day 2017 Review of First Committee Meeting: Beth VanHoose reported that the MFG Day committee met recently and is working toward October 26 th as the tentative date to have the MFG Day event here in Kingman. Some initial thoughts are to have more businesses hosting tours and fewer students in the touring groups. The school envisions trying to target the right student for the right tours for that student. Beth suggested that the presentation at lunch be omitted and possibly have the Fire Department out for an exhibit at the KAA Administration building which will be the meeting location and base for the tour groups. John Hansen commended Beth of the comprehensive report and applauded the great work on this event. John challenged the Mayor and Chamber of Commerce to produce a professional video of the event that could be published on the City s website as well as the Chamber, KAMMA, KAA and Mohave County s websites. f. Laughlin Bullhead International Airport (IFP) Update: Tim Bannon, Assistant Director for the Laughlin Bullhead International Airport shared that the new American Airlines service that began in February as 4 months and a few days into the journey and that there was 50% ridership at this point. Tim explained that they were pushing marketing very hard and that you could expect to see ads on the digital billboards around Kingman in the near future. Tim expressed how vitally important it is for everyone to get the word out about the air service locally and find a way to increase volume in ridership to support the service long term. Tim reminded everyone of the free parking and short waits to get through ticketing and security. There will be a meeting at 2pm on June 26 th at the Kingman Airport Authority to promote the air service. g. Partner Updates: KAA, JTED, MCC, Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce, Others: Bob Riley, Economic Development Director of the Kingman Airport Authority reported that KAA toured a prospective tenant through the old Southwire building this morning. Bob noted that there are inquiries coming in but no commitments have been made on occupancy. Bob confirmed that the dross remediation project is still ongoing at the airport. Monica Gates, Mayor, City of Kingman shared news of a meeting scheduled for 3pm July 13 th at the City Hall Chambers relative to discussion on development of the Rancho Santa Fe / Rattlesnake Wash interchange. Major investor Sunbelt Development will be attending as well as other local leaders. Mayor Gates appealed to the KAMMA group to participate in this effort as it is vital to paint a vivid picture and find a way to show and sell the idea to higher state powers in order to get this moving toward reality. Robert Freeman, Corporate Education Manager at MCC reported that MCC is working with River Medical to develop a curriculum for Advanced Medical Training for First Responders that would be held at the KAA Administration building. Details of the training will be published once finalized.

5 Beth VanHoose, CTE Assistant at Kingman High School shared that the WAVE/JTED Board meeting is scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month (August 2 nd ) at 5:30pm. Beth was unsure of the location of the upcoming meeting. Mary Mendola, Workforce Program Supervisor, Mohave County Arizona@Work informed the group that the Workforce Board was taking applications for directors and encouraged KAMMA members to consider serving on the Board. h. Arizona Fair Wages and Healthy Families Act Paid Sick Time Accrual Begins July 1 st, 2017: *This agenda item was added just prior to the meeting time. Within a few weeks all Arizona companies will have to comply with the newly enacted Fair Wages and Healthy Families Act voted in last year. The paid sick time accrual must begin July 1, 2017 for all employees. There was discussion within the group on the rules and details of the accrual process. John Hansen indicated that all companies would be faced with policy decisions and changes to comply with the requirement. John indicated that Laron was working with their legal group to write policy relative to compliance of the PST Accrual law and offered to share with members if they were interested. VI.
