1 The Clement Chronicle Balanced Budget Focuses on Job Creation, Families and Seniors, says MP Clement April 21, OTTAWA Parry Sound-Muskoka Member of Parliament Tony Clement is welcoming the Harper Government s Economic Action Plan 2015, released today. It supports job creation, provides benefits for families and seniors, and ensures the security of all Canadians. We have kept our promise to Canadians by balancing the budget in 2015, the first balanced budget since the Great Recession, said MP Clement, who as President of the Treasury Board helped drive cost containment measures to achieve balance. Economic Action Plan 2015 will build on the more than 1.2 million new jobs created since the recession. MP Clement vows to keep working alongside local job creators, including Crofters Organic, Lofthouse, Muskoka Rock, Kent Trusses, and MBRP Inc, to help stimulate our local economy. He is also proud of the budget`s programs to help families and seniors. When I meet with the moms and dads and the grandparents across Parry Sound-Muskoka, they want our Government to help them make ends meet. This budget delivers, including tax relief to our families, up to $6,600 per year. It gives more flexibility to seniors to manage their finances, and keeps our promise to double the Tax Free Savings Account, said MP Clement. While we re focused on creating jobs, Justin Trudeau has the same old Liberal high tax, high debt agenda that will threaten jobs and set working families back. Meanwhile, the NDP continues to push risky high-tax schemes like a $20 billion carbon tax that would hurt Canada s economy and kill Canadian Volume 5 Issue 3, May 2015 jobs. Only our Conservative Government can be trusted to manage Canada s economy and keep taxes low, said MP Clement. 2 Tony in Action MP Clement Announces Investment in Ryerson, Burk s Falls and Armour Township May 8, 2015 Burk s Falls, Ontario The Honourable Tony Clement, MP for Parry Sound Muskoka and President of the Treasury Board announced today an investment to strengthen the economic outlook for the Township of Ryerson and surrounding communities, and to help the region capitalize on business and economic development opportunities. The Harper Government is proud to support this initiative that will help strengthen the economic competitiveness of the Almaguin Highlands region and create jobs. Today s announcement will enable Ryerson, Burk s Falls and Armour Township to implement identified priorities to diversify and stimulate business investment and growth, as well as attract potential investors, said MP Clement. An investment of $298,100, provided through FedNor s Community Investment Initiative for Northern Ontario (CIINO), will enable the Township of Ryerson, in partnership with the Village of Burk s Falls and Armour Township, to hire an economic development officer (EDO) for a three-year period to implement key economic development and growth initiatives for the region. On behalf of the Township of Ryerson and our partners, I would like to thank the Government of Canada and FedNor for investing in our economic future and supporting activities that will help stimulate business investment, expansion and attraction, and ultimately result in increased revenue and employment levels in our region. Glenn Miller, Reeve of Ryerson Township Some of the regional projects to be undertaken by the EDO include undertaking a marketing plan to increase tourism activity in the region, creating and implementing a business retention and expansion plan, and developing an industrial park opportunity. Quick Facts CIINO, a component of FedNor s Northern Ontario Development Program, helps eligible municipalities and First Nations hire staff on a term basis to facilitate the identification of opportunities and the management of local economic development efforts while collaborating with regional partners to strengthen the economy. Since 2006, through FedNor s Northern Ontario Development Program, the Harper Government has invested $343 million in support of more than 1,645 projects. These investments have supported more than 21,500 jobs throughout Northern Ontario. 3 Tony in Action Supporting Common Sense Firearms Licensing April 28, Ottawa Last week, Members of Parliament voted in favour of Bill C-42, the Common Sense Firearms Licensing Act. Tony Clement, Member of Parliament for Parry Sound- Muskoka, proudly stood in the House of Commons to offer his support for the Bill. Unfortunately, not a single member of the Liberals or NDP supported this common sense measure, including Northern Ontario NDP MPs Charlie Angus, John Rafferty and Carol Hughes. I am proud to support Bill C-42, which will help protect Canadians, and reduce the administrative burden for the law-abiding hunters, farmers and sport shooters in Parry Sound-Muskoka. Our Government s amendments build on the significant actions we have already taken to combat the criminal use of firearms. This continues our balanced approach to firearms control, said MP Clement. The Bill s amendments to the Firearms Act and the Criminal Code of Canada meet the Government s objective to enact simple and safe firearms policies that respect the property rights of lawful firearms owners. MP Clement Announces Funds for Parry Sound Sail Inc. Tony and partners at Sail Parry Sound Inc. at the FedNor funding announcement on May 1, May 1, 2015 Parry Sound, Ontario The Honourable Tony Clement, MP for Parry Sound Muskoka, announced today an investment to support Parry Sound Sail Inc., helping support jobs, growth and prosperity in Northern Ontario. Waterfront development is a proven economic driver for Northern Ontario communities and this investment will further position the area as a tourism destination of choice for sailing and watercraft enthusiasts from across the region and beyond. I am proud to be part of a government that is investing in priority infrastructure projects that build on our communities inherent strengths to support jobs and a strong, sustainable economy, said MP Clement. The FedNor investment of $122,236 will enable Sail Parry Sound Inc. to complete infrastructure improvements at their sailing centre on the shores of Georgian Bay. Specifically, the funding will be used to construct a public observation deck and sail loft, complete landscaping upgrades and improvements to public washrooms. The investment will help Sail Parry Sound Inc. to grow its operations and create new business opportunities, including a café kiosk, a cycling rental and training centre, as well as the establishment of an ecologically sound watercraft rental business. On behalf of Sail Parry Sound Inc. and its regional partners, I would like to thank the Government of Canada for investing in our expansion efforts. The funding announced today will allow us to grow and modernize our existing waterfront facilities, enhance tourism and create new business opportunities, said Bob Griffiths, President, Sail Parry Sound Inc.

4 Tony in Action Supporting Small Business in Muskoka April 17, 2015 Bracebridge, Ontario The Honourable Tony Clement, MP for Parry Sound Muskoka announced today an investment of $2,000,000 for two projects in support of small business development and growth in the Muskoka region. Of this total, a FedNor investment of $1,500,000 will enable the Muskoka Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) to offer business counselling and access to capital services, as well as support community strategic planning initiatives for a five-year period. The remaining $500,000 will augment the organization s investment fund and will be used to finance small business start-ups and expansions. Quick Facts The funding announced today is provided through FedNor s Community Futures and Northern Ontario Development Programs, which support projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation. Since 2006, through FedNor s Community Futures and Northern Ontario Development Programs, the Harper Government has invested $413 million in support of more than 1,775 projects. Based in Bracebridge, the Muskoka Community Futures Development Corporation is one of 24 CFDCs funded by FedNor to serve Northern Ontario businesses and communities. CFDCs are community-based, not-for-profit organizations run by volunteer boards and staffed by experienced business and economic development professionals.
