1 Workshop. Integration of Pad s into Style-Tracks (Edit) This Workshop ( Tutorial or How-To ) has been created using a Korg Pa800 with OPERATING System Version 2.01 installed. Information also applies to a Korg Pa2Xpro and should also be adaptable/appropriate for Pa1X (pro) Users. In this example, a previously prepared PAD / or even factory PAD is copied to a target style (e.g.: new MIX-Style, consisting of the other tracks from original style A with the drum track from PAD B integrated) and afterwards saved as new USER-Style. 3 Then the keyboard prompts with : Now you have to give the MENU Button near to the DATA-Entry-Dial, because we want to quickly insert a PAD! and don t want to personally record any track! Author: Thomas Bleck (Kerpen, Germany) Seite 3 von 12

4 ... and here we point to the Screen MENU and the Style-EDIT Button! and then Select STYLE EDIT In the following screen we have to select from the bottom page Tab the Entry "COPY FROM PAD" (as we want to do exactly this) : Author: Thomas Bleck (Kerpen, Germany) Seite 4 von 12

6 ** Adjust in the line From CV "ALL" and Select the target : e.g. VAR1! ** in the selectable item To Track you have to choose "Drum" or -if you like - "Perc" (or even other ACC-Tracks!) 7 Corresponding safety question you have to answer with YES! Now this happens as follows!: In the formerly chosen target style [In the Target of choice] GUITAR POP there is a FILL in the DRUM-Track of VAR 1 by the given source of just the selected PAD-item. Please repeat the Steps 1-3 for VAR2 VAR4 as you would like it or even INTROx and FILLx. THAT S ALL! Now we want to go back by pressing the EXIT-Button on the keyboard Into the MAIN Menu of STYLE EDIT and then we select in the DISPLAY the PAGE MENU Button and open this Author: Thomas Bleck (Kerpen, Germany) Seite 7 von 12

8 ** Select WRITE STYLE ** Choose a suitable name that you like (e.g. "DRUM-MIX-Style" ) ** Define a Style Bank location (USER or FAVORITE Section is the best location) Author: Thomas Bleck (Kerpen, Germany) Seite 8 von 12

10 Now, press the RECORD Button (while in the ACTIVE mode of Style EDIT -> this means: I want to leave!)... Corresponding safety question you have to answer with YES! Now we have to select the new MIX Style" from the Favourite or User Section. You can now try the modified sound of the new MIX style (in VAR1. ) Perhaps you want to Select an alternative DRUM KIT!? 11 R E A D Y! This will work also with all the other Track types... however, you have to give the correct track type and your required choice of Variation... NOTICE! Korg-OS watches different pattern-length s while the copy-actions fit to the intentions of the operator! If there is a gap on counting the length of mixed patterns at the end of the pattern-length... the Gap is filled up automatically from the beginning until there is no acoustic/musical break! This style category doesn t really need 8 fully implemented playing tracks, there is even a sufficient result when combining a DRUM / BASS / PIANO or DRUM / PERC / GUITAR or even a DRUM / PERC / BASS / - PAD! You can vary in style among the 90 (in words: NINETY) Constructed Pad s over there! And now for the best: You can fly them in beat synchronized to any factory or user-style you have preloaded! Just mute the DRUM track (or other track types) of the selected style and get the prepared :DR:pad xyz playing with the style together!
