2 Greetings.. my name is Echo and I am just like you. Except I come from a tiny purple planet called Fizzix, which is 100 light years past the Moon. 2 3

3 I was visiting Earth to find out about your planet and all the ways that children have fun on summer holidays. I found out that Butlins was the place where children have the most fun in the whole world, and I was enjoying watching you all so much that I lost control of my spacepod and crash landed. You can t see me because things from planet Fizzix are invisible on planet Earth. Now my spacepod is broken and I can t get home to Fizzix. I m really mad because it s my birthday party tomorrow and I don t want to miss it. Will you help me mend my spacepod and get back to Fizzix before I miss my party and get into trouble with my mum? As a reward you ll get a great certificate from the president of Fizzix to thank you for helping one of her people. Send me a text message to say you ll help, and I ll text you right back using my communicator. Send the word HELP (and no other words at all) to my number It may help if you store my number in your address book. Ask an adult to help if you don t know how to do this. 4 COMPETITION If you help me get back to Fizzix in time for my party then you ll have the chance to win one of three amazing holidays for you and your family at Butlins. When I crashed, the powerpads, which have special powers to make my spacepod fly, were scattered all over the resort. I am trapped in my spacepod please help me find my three powerpads. I can see all three powerpads on my screens but I need you to pick them up for me by going to find them and answering three questions correctly. You can text me the answers but my communicator is low on battery power so you will have to work quickly. You are clever so it shouldn't take long, maybe 30 Earth minutes if you move fast. The quicker you are the more chance I have of keeping in contact. Top tips Take this book and your Earth mobile phone with you. You can help Echo on your own, or work as a team and share one mobile phone between you. 6 7

5 Go to the Splash Waterworld spectators gallery and look for this powerpad. It's right in front of you as you walk up the stairs. Before I crashed my spacepod, I saw children having lots of fun going really fast down the waterslide. Have you had a go on the waterslide? It looks great fun whooshing down it. I would have a go if I didn t have to get back to Fizzix. Do you know why children go so fast down the waterslide? The water is moving over the smooth slide which means there is very little of the force which normally slows you down. This force is called friction. I have lost the friction powerpad for my spacepod. You can pick up my friction powerpad by answering this question. Rub your hands together very fast. How do they feel? Text the answer. 6 Now go to the go karts and look for this powerpad by the entrance kiosk. When I m at home I love flying my spacepod really really fast but I ve seen some fast things on your planet as well, like planes and sports cars. And go karts are fast too. Next time I come to Earth we could have a race, me in my spacepod against you in a go kart. My spacepod can go so fast because of its special powerpad that makes it change shape so it s all curvy and the air goes over it very smoothly, just like a racing car. This powerpad makes it more aerodynamic. That s a really hard word, it makes my brain hurt. But at the moment my spacepod only goes dead slow because the aerodynamic powerpad has fallen off. Please answer this question to put the powerpad back on. If we had a race, what could you do to your go kart to make it as fast as my spacepod? Text the answer. 7 Go to the Paratrooper and find this powerpad. This is my last powerpad! Have you been on the Paratrooper ride? It looks too scary to me! When the Paratrooper ride gets fast, the chairs swing out to the side. The same force that makes the chairs swing out is what makes you lean to the side of a car when it turns a corner really quickly. My motion powerpad stops me getting dizzy as I orbit around planets. Please answer this question to pick up my last powerpad. This is my most silly question, so don t try this when anyone is looking. If you hold a bucket of water and spin it very fast in a circle around your head, what do you think would happen to the water? Text the answer. Please spell it very carefully and only send one word. 8 Now I ve got my powerpads back, my spacepod looks like new. Just a few little bumps. I d better get home so I am in time for my birthday party tomorrow. BIG THANKS.
