When the inks come back, it is up to the colourist, and after that, the letterer, to take the final two steps in the comic s creative process. Here are 3 actual inks that were used for the Jekyll & Hyde comic. It is now up to you to complete them, by giving em some colour, and letter the pages! Suggestion 1: The colour and style you use can really enhance the feel of it all, if it is done well. So, think what is suitable for the story you are dealing with, but don t be afraid to be bold and different! Suggestion 2: By applying different colours to the text boxes, you can clarify its function, or highlight the type of text that is in it (narrative, descriptive, etc). Suggestion 3: The letterer can create great effects by changing the style of letters used, for instance to differentiate between speaking, whispering, and shouting. You can probably think of ways to do this yourself too. (Unseen speaker) We have common friends. Jekyll, for instance. He never told you! (Dr Lanyon) Dear Lanyon, My life, my honour, my reason are all at your mercy. If you fail me tonight, I am lost! Drive straight to my house. You are to enter my cabinet and draw out, with all its contents, the forth drawer from the top... At midnight, admit into your house a man who will present himself in my name, and place his hands in the drawer... Will you suffer me to take the glass in my hand? Your sight shall be blasted by a prodigy to stager the unbelief of Satan! (Dr Lanyon) I have gone too far to pause before I see the end! 3 I was now confined to the better part of my existence; let Hyde peep out for but an instant, and the hands of all men would be raised to slay him! There comes an end to all things, seated in Regent s Park on a fine January day, a qualm came over me a horrid nausea and the most deadly shuddering... I was once more Edward Hyde! If I sought to enter my house, my own servants would consign me to the gallows. I saw I must employ another hand and thought of Lanyon. From that day forth, it was only under the immediate stimulation of the drug that I was able to wear the countenance of Jekyll. If I slept, or even dozed for a minute, it was a Hyde that I awakened!
