Each chapt er also has a Rom an num eral t o com plim ent t he st ory?s plot being about Rom ans. Why does it m at t er? The use of t he Mult iple View point elem ent is im port ant t o t he book because it gives im port ant side charact ers m ore at t ent ion. The st ory isn?t just driven by t he m ain charact er, each charact er has a role t hat excels t he plot forw ard. Each charact er is t he child of a God and t heir involved in a prophecy t hat w ill im pede fut ure w ar. The Im pact on t he Reader The elem ent m akes t he reader see t hings from different charact er 's perspect ive. This m akes t he reader feel m ore connect ed t o ot hers charact ers. This allow s t he reader t o see t hings t hey didn?t realize before.
3 Book Based Dialogue Dialogue is the spoken words of characters, it can be spoken in various tones. Author, Rick Riordan, gives dialogue to all characters. Even if the characters speak one word, it counts as dialogue. Dialogue is Im port ant because... Dialogue is important to the book because it establishes how characters interact with each other. The characters express their emotions through their words. Motives are explained, plots are revealed, and emotions clash in this book which is why dialogue is impor tant. " Anyone who helps the Rome must perish. If you would join them, you are no child of mine... Kill the Romans. Find the Mark, follow it to its source. Witness how Rome disgraced me, and pledge your vengeance." (220) What 's t he im pact on t he reader? Dialogue makes the reader know people?s intentions and how they react to other people. The readers feel the emotions of characters when they speak their mind. Rick Riordan intentionally gives characters a rival because that?s what keeps the characters motivated. The dialogue between these characters lets the reader know why they do the things they do.
4 Descript ive Words The aut hor craft s t he adject ives t o express t he em ot ions of t he charact ers and t o describe m yt hical beings. These descript ive w ords alw ays are t ied t o t he charact ers w henever t hey feel any t ype of w ay. This pat t ern w ill alw ays be present and w ill alw ays expose t he charact er?s feelings. The Use of Adject ives Adject ives are im port ant t o t his book because w hen used, t he charact erist ics of charact ers are being show n. Adject ives are also used t o describe t he vast collect ion of m yt hical beings, it em s and places. From m yt hical anim als, creat ures, m onst ers, t o Gods.. Sent ence-based What 's t he im pact on t he reader? In This book, non-linear narration influences the reader by... "Jason had described her well. Even without that, Annabeth would have singled her out as the leader. Medals decorated her armor. She carried herself with such confidence the other demigods backed away and averted their gaze. Annabeth recognized something else in her face, too? in the hard set of her mouth and the deliberate way she raised her chin like she was ready to accept any challenge. Reyna was forcing a look of courage, while holding back a mixture of hopefulness and worry and fear that she couldn't show in public." pg 14

7 About The Aut hors-rick Riordan Rick Riordan is the New York Times bestselling author of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Born on June 5, 1964 in Texas. He graduated from Alamo Heights high school, majoring in English and history. He became an English teacher for a decade, teaching Greek mythology. He won a major teacher award, shortly after he became a writer. Using his Greek mythology knowledge, he transferred that into the stories he created. His son, Haley had dyslexia and ADHD and begged him to tell stories about Greek mythology. That?s when he seriously got involved into writing. His first book,? Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief? became an instant classic. After that, he continued the series of Percy Jackson and The Olympians.
