Not only have our sales grown year on year through continuous investment and development, but we have also continued to invest in our people as well as recruiting new staff to drive forward our success for the future. Our natural products are responsibly sourced from the best quarries which we regularly audit to ensure they meet quality and ethical standards. Our Premium Sandstone and Old Rectory collections remain perennially popular and we are delighted to have added another colour to the Old Rectory range to meet the demand for grey products. We are also pleased to expand other ranges by introducing new setts and walling. Our other natural stone collections remain very much in demand such as granite, slate and pavers providing beautiful alternative options. We are proud that our porcelain products continue to lead the way in the UK. Since we launched the collection in 2014 we have gone from strength to strength expanding the range each year, introducing new beautiful products, helping to shape the market and meet demand is no exception, we are introducing unique products as well as new sizes, colours and designs enabling our customers to benefit from the low maintenance and durable qualities of porcelain paving irrespective of whether they are looking for a contemporary or traditional look. 27 25 IN THE SPOTLIGHT AWARD WINNING SHOW GARDENS Global Stone were very proud to have sponsored two medal winning gardens in The first show garden to win an award was designed and built by Ollie Neaves who scooped the Gold Medal for the Young Gardeners of the Year at the Ideal Home Show. His inspirational front garden was a delight to the eye for both homeowners and passers-by. For Ollie s winning design, Garden Without Boundary he used Global Stone Mirage Linear Paving which has a beautifully honed finish and smooth texture. By using the paving in a clever way he created a staggered horizontal pathway giving the illusion that the garden was wider, giving it rhythm and movement through the garden, leading the viewers on a journey to a welcoming entrance. Stealing the show at this year s Southport Flower Show Curious Garden competition was Kuro designed by Kirman Designs and sponsored by C&W Berry. A fascinating concept, the dual themed garden won an astonishing four Gold Medals, using Global Stone s Liquorice Porcelain 600x1200 tile. This stunning paving was used to create a pathway which guided you past a sunken firepit through to the second garden, a secluded woodland escape called The Cube. This design beautifully encapsulated a sophisticated modern lifestyle with sleek lines framing a social area while encompassing an urban retreat. Sadly, over time this idyllic space degenerated due to his wife Audrey s failing health and sad death, but thanks to Alan and his team it was transformed back into a vision of beauty and practical space for Jack to continue enjoying after losing his dear wife. HONED We achieve a polished finish by using an abrasive to bring outthe refl ection of the natural crystals creating a stunning glossy and very smooth surface. The edges of products are cut by hand using a chisel or hammer giving it its natural look. This results in surfaces that are riven and undulating in texture. 77 75 FLAMED The finish is achieved by heating the surface of the stone to extreme temperatures, followed by rapidly cooling, resulting in the surface bubbling up to give a rough, unrefined texture which makes it slip resistant. BRUSHED The surface of the stone is rubbed with hard bristle brushes, giving a worn down appearance that looks like it has naturally happened over time. However, if you want a more consistent colour blend then porcelain may be more suitable; it also appeals to those wanting a low maintenance option as it is durable and easy to clean. The surface texture should also be considered particularly when creating practical spaces for children, individuals with mobility considerations or just wanting to create that bringing the outdoors in feel. MAINTENANCE & CARE We recommend you chose a reputable specialist to lay your paving and use the right laying guide for the product you ve selected as there are different techniques for each product. As there can be colour variance within packs of natural stone it is key that you alternate packs when laying your paving. As the UK climate is generally wet and warm it is important to lay your paving with a fall so any excess rain water can drain away from surrounding buildings. A build-up of surface water on paving can also lead to risk of algae growth which can make the paving dirty and slippery. The jointing you select can also influence how colour blends appeal to the eye and there is an assortment of colour options available. If you are laying Porcelain, we recommend using external tile grout. Regularly cleaning your paving will not only keep it looking fresh but will also prevent other challenges caused by our weather conditions.
