1 Log On: When you log into the World of Chess, you will enter the Hall of Kings. In the Hall of Kings, click on the Avatar to the left of the message area to customize your own Avatar. Hover the mouse over any item. If it is something you can interact with, it will be highlighted in yellow. The Shields on the right wall indicate which Game Halls have been completed and the Achievement Cards received and which ones are a work in progress. For example, in the screen above, the 2 colored shields on the wall indicate you have accomplished all 3 cards in the Powerful Pawn Hall and all 3 in the Battling Bishop Hall. The gray shield represents the Mighty Knights Hall these 3 cards have not yet been accomplished. 1

2 The? Icon: Click on the? on the bottom right of any room to display a little help page indicating what you can do in this room. Click anywhere on the screen while this help page is active and it will be deactivated. 2

3 The Avatar: Click the Avatar to customize its skin color, armor color and gender. Click Exit to apply that change. 3

4 Stats: Click the Podium to display a list of all club players and their stats. You ll be able to see where you stand with your peers in the Game World. 4

The bottom right is the Powerful Pawn Hall where you can test and learn about the Powerful Pawn Achievement Cards. The Flags on top of each building represent which rooms you can access for testing. For Example: In the screen above, the large rectangular flag above the Powerful Pawn Hall indicates you have access to take tests. The triangle flag represents which activity card you are working on. 1 Triangle: No Stripe Card 2 Triangles: 1 Stripe Card; and 3 Triangles: 2 Stripe Card As you progress through the Halls, flags will become visible for each. To receive each Achievement Card, you must go through each Hall in order: Powerful Pawns, Battling Bishops, Mighty Knights, Rockin Rooks, Queen s Quests and Kickin Kings. NOTE: All rooms are available for Practice Mode watch videos, do puzzles and practice for the challenge. At the time of this writing only the Powerful Pawn room and the Battling Bishop room are available for practice and testing. 5

Once you enter into one of the halls, you can do several things: learn about information on the cards, work on puzzles and challenges, or take the test to achieve the card.

There is one card and bookshelf group for each achievement card. If you can see the Activity Bullets on a Card, that is the card you re testing on. A face up card means the tests for the previous card have not been achieved and you cannot be tested on this card. However, you can go into the Practice Bookshelf to learn about any card. 6

7 Clicking on the? icon at the bottom right of the screen will display the help for what you can do in this room. 7

8 Test: Clicking on a card that has the Activity side up, will allows you to take a Test for that card. A King next to an activity indicates you ve passed the test. Important! You can attempt to take a test 2 times. If you fail both times, you will be directed to practice before you can test again. 8

9 Practice: To practice, simply click on the practice book shelf. You will see a book for each activity on that card. 9

10 Next, click on the book that represents the activity you want to practice or learn. For most books, you can do 1 of 3 things. 1. Watch and Learn: Watch videos and read activities that will help explain the bullet on the card; 2. Puzzle It Out: Work through puzzles that will help you use what you ve learned; or 3. Get Ready for Challenges: Practice for the actual test. 10

11 Select Watch and Learn to display a list of available videos or PDFS. NOTE: Your pop up blocker needs to be disabled for these to work! 11

12 Click Puzzle It Out to find puzzles that help you apply what you ve learned. 12
