1 Elemental dignities Elemental dignities describe how Tarot groups interact with eachother through the 4 elements (4 suits) Air, Water, Earth and Fire (Swords, Cups, Pentacles and Wands).

2 There are 6 rules to remember 1. Swords (Air) + Wands(Fire) Are Friendly And Active. 2. Pentacles (Earth) + Cups (Water) Are Friendly And Passive. 3. Wands (Fire) + Cups (Water) Are Enemies. They Weaken Each Other. 4. Swords (Air) And Pentacles (Earth) Are Enemies. They Weaken Each Other. 5. Wands (Fire) And Pentacles (Earth) Strengthen Each Other, But Are Neutral: They Combine An Active (Wands) And A Passive(Pentacles) Element. 6. Cups (Water) And Swords (Air) Strengthen Each Other, But Are Neutral: They Combine A Passive (Cups) And An Active(Swords) Element.

3 Tarot Practice using Elemental Dignities Separate the minor and the major tarot cards. You will do a 2-card reading answering yes/no, soon/delay, and positive/negative types of questions. Yes/No: Shuffle the Minor Arcana deck only. Think of your yes or no question. Follow the 6 rules. If you get Rules 1 & 2 it is a yes (2 cards from the same suit is also yes). Rules 3 & 4 is a likely yes, but not as certain as with Rules 1 & 2. Rules 5 & 6 is a likely no.

4 Soon/Delay: Shuffle the Minor Arcana deck only. Think of your soon/delay question. Follow the 6 rules. If you get Rule 1 or 2 it is a very soon (2 cards from the same suit is also very soon). Rule 5 or 6 is soon, but not as soon as with Rule 1 or 2. Rule 5 or 6 is a delay. Positive/Negative: This method is beneficial to use if you want to see if a situation will be positive or negative. Shuffle the Minor Arcana deck only. Think of your situation question. Follow the 6 rules. If you get Rule 1 or 2 it means very positive(2 cards from the same suit is also very positive). Rule 5 or 6 is positive. Rule 3 or 4 is negative.

5 It can be wise to decide before you do an elemental dignity reading, whether or not you also will incorporate the tarot card meanings. If you do incorporate the tarot card meanings, the card meanings will explain the why you get yes/no, soon/delay, and positive/negative. Also, look at the bottom card in your reading. This card will explain the how and why of a reading. Let s say you get very soon answer to a timing question. The bottom card will explain something important about the situation and what is behind it.

8 Elemental Dignity reading practice with the Major Arcana Only use The Major Arcana cards for this. Now you are going to read how close you are to complete a major life lesson. Think of something you are learning, for example, patience, confidence, security, financial lessons, relationship (valued) etc. Think of a lesson you are currently in. Shuffle the Major Arcana cards and cut the deck. The 6 rules apply as before. Turn over 2 cards and if they belong to friendly elements (2 cards of the same element are also friendly) seen in rule 1 or 2, it means you are very close to completing a major life lesson, and a new door or opportunity might open up for you soon. If you get rule 5 or 6 it means you are in the middle of learning the lesson (halfway there), and if you get rule 3 or 4 it means you are at the beginning of a life lesson.

9 Advanced Elemental Dignities

10 Now we will practice using the whole deck, and we will use 3 cards. This means you might have two cards that are strengthening each other and two cards that weaken each other in the same reading. For example, let's say you have two of cups, three of pentacles, five of swords. Two of cups next to three of pentacles strengthen each other, but three of pentacles next to five of swords weakens each other. We are now practising advanced Tarot. Let's pretend the 3 card reading is a general situation reading. How would you interpret the cards? There is a lot going on here. Two of cups and Three of pentacles signify a healthy and loving work situation. However, the Fool is facing the other way, walking away from it all. It has detached itself from the other cards. This can indicate the Seeker has outgrown a work situation, and the only thing keeping him/her there is friendships obtained at work. But the Seeker wants new challenges and is torn between staying where it is comfortable, or following a dream which will lead him/her into the unknown.

11 Listen to your Intuition Intuition plays a big part in your tarot interpretation. How do you feel when you look at the cards you've laid out in front of you? What card is grabbing your attention? This card holds the key. Once you got the message your eyes will start wander to the next card, so forth. If you don't get any messages I have a trick you can try. Take a photo of the card layout. Make sure each card in the layout are in the picture. Look at the picture rather than the cards. The picture often interprets the reading for you, and looking at a picture rather than the cards unlocks everything. I have no idea why I just know it works.
