1 ErP ErP legislation legislation European Union September 2018 Phase out of halogen bulbs and candles The process of gradual phase out of inefficient, energy-consuming electrical devices has been continuing in Europe for a few years already. Lighting is a part of it, and many halogen lamp types are gradually being phased out from the European market. However, not every type of halogen lamp is being banned from the European market at the same time. The changes in EU lighting legislation are being implemented gradually, so that sufficient choice of energy saving alternative products is available. September 2018 Halogen bulb LED bulb April 2018

2 What does it mean for halogen products from September 2018 onwards On 1st September 2018, mains voltage halogen nondirectional lamps (bulbs and candles) will not fulfil EU eco-design requirements.* This means that they can no longer be produced or imported for resale into the EU. 3 Is this a reason for concern? Absolutely not! Philips offers a compelling range of LED alternatives to replace the banned V halogen bulb and candle lamps. LED bulbs and candles come in a wide variety of shapes, finishes, colors and price points acceptable by local markets. Moreover, most LED bulbs and candles come in both a dimmable and non-dimmable version, and with a choice of packaging types. In this leaflet you will find our recommended LED replacements for the halogen bulbs and candles. Some types of halogen lamps: like capsules, linear, low voltage reflectors lamps - will still be available and can be sold in EU. See also the overview below.
