3 OUR STORY BEGINNINGS Born out of the imagination of two friends from Marseille, the story of La Compagnie de Provence begins in 1990 when they establish their trading company in the Panier, Marseille s oldest district. Aware that the legendary cube of Marseille soap holds an important position in the cultural and industrial heritage of their region, they decided to revive it. In spite of the fame and pride it brought to the city since the 17 th century, Marseille soap had become outmoded, supplanted by industrial detergents and scented soaps. Guided by their desire to promote this emblematic soap and to market it all over the world and across every culture, they gave it a modern twist. Beautifully wrapped in brown paper, tied up with a hemp string and stamped with a wax seal, it regains its reputation for excellence. THE ORIGINAL LIQUID MARSEILLE SOAP In 1999, La Compagnie de Provence is the first brand to reinterpret the traditional cube of Marseille soap and launch its liquid version. Made from vegetable oils as its solid ancestor and crafted in a cauldron following authentic tradition, it comes in a glass dispenser adorned with a sleek design. In line with the new consumption habits, this product instantly became very popular and brought continuous success to La Compagnie de Provence. The brand is now cited as the reference for liquid Marseille soap. Since then, based on this iconic bottle and thanks to our expertise and creativity, La Compagnie de Provence has constantly been developing products dedicated to your wellbeing. For this new collection, La Compagnie de Provence has been quite innovative The hand and body creams are formulated around a trio of plant oils that are known for their cosmetic properties. SWEET ALMOND OIL Our sweet almond oil is sourced in Provence, from the Valensole plateau. For over a century, the Jaubert family one of the leaders in almond cultivation has been maintaining an orchard of over 15,000 almond trees of the Lauranne and Ferragnès varieties. The oil is extracted by cold pressing, then filtered to obtain an oil of the highest quality. Rich in fatty acids, sweet almond oil helps to soften, moisturise and nourish. Also rich in Vitamins A and E, it is recommended for dry and sensitive skin. OLIVE OIL The olive oil used in our products is sourced at Lançon de Provence in an olive grove of nearly 37 hectares in one of the largest producers of olive oil in France, Château Virant. This oil is extracted from the typically Provencal olives by the names of Aglandau, Salonenque, Verdale and Grossane, harvested every year between October and December. Rich in antioxidants polyphenols, fatty acids and vitamins A and E, olive oil is highly protective, nourishing and softening. GRAPE SEED OIL Grape seed oil is extracted from the grape seed by cold pressing. Rich in polyphenols and flavonoids, powerful antioxidants, grape seed oil helps protect the skin from free radicals and premature skin aging. Its high composition in omega6 gives it moisturizing and restructuring properties. Grape seed oil is suitable for all skin types and helps to maintain the elasticity of the skin.
