2 1 st OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT INTRODUCTION 7th International Conference for the Conservation of the EIE will be held in Bratislava, Slovakia, on 2-5 October It will be organized by the Raptor Protection of Slovakia in cooperation with MME/BirldLife Hungary, Czech Society for Ornithology and with support from Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic. The Conference is a part of long-term continuous effort to preserve this rare species that started by establishing the International Imperial Eagle Working Group in Before this Conference, six international meetings were held between 1990 and The Conference will be focused on following topics: recent population status and trends, biology and ecology of the species, endangering factors, conservation activities and experiences, review of the International Action Plan for the Imperial Eagle (Aquila heliaca). The topics will be presented by presentations and posters and discussed during workshops / round tables, which will be held during 3 4 October A field trip will be organized on 5 October 2013 to a historical Imperial Eagle nesting site in neighbouring area in the Little Carpathians mountain. A detailed program of the Conference will be available until 31 August The VENUE OF THE MEETING will be the Baronka Hotel, Bratislava, Slovakia (see the details below). OFFICIAL LANGUAGE of the Conference will be English. REGISTRATION Registration for the Conference will be opened from 15 April The registration form is available online at this address: Advanced registration for the Conference is mandatory. Registration will be closed on 30 June Registration fee for participants will be 120 EUR. It includes conference materials including Book of Abstracts, food and Proceedings. Participation fee on the field trip (5 October 2013) is an additional 20 EUR. Fees should be paid via bank transfer by 30 June 2013.

Abstracts of no more than 300 words should be submitted to the Conference Secretariat by 30 June 2013 in electronic version. Final paper in full version shall be submitted by 15 September The Proceedings of the Conference will be published electronically by 28 February 2013, as a Supplementum of Slovak Raptor Journal, published on Instructions for authors are available in a separate document distributed with this Announcement. In the Registration form, please indicate your interest in presenting papers or posters, as well as your interest to participate on the field trip. ACCOMODATION Accommodation for the participants will be offered in Baronka Hotel or in other hotels in Bratislava. In Baronka, accommodation will be available for participants from 2 October till 5 October 2013 at following rates: Singe room 48 / night Double room 52 / night Standard Triple Room 70 / night All prices include breakfast. Longer stay in Bratislava may be agreed individually when booking the rooms. The participants are kindly requested to make booking by themselves. When booking accommodation in Baronka Hotel, please refer to the Conference.

4 OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION Currency and credit cards The local currency in Slovakia is Euro (EUR). You are advised to have EUR in cash for small shopping as the credit cards may not be used in some shops. The credit cards (VISA, MASTERS, Diners) are normally accepted by hotels, supermarkets, gasoline stations, etc. Visa requirement Participants from some countries may need a visa to enter the Slovak Republic/ Schengen coutries of the European Union. In case of uncertainty, please check your respective status on click right below Visa and EU. Visa will be issued by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in your country/region. The invitation letter will be sent to the participants upon request by to IE@dravce.sk. Please, consult the respective Embassy of the Slovak Republic whether the invitation letter is required. Getting to Slovakia Bratislava Airport, Slovakia: Vienna Airport-Schwechat, Austria: There is a daily regular bus connection (operated by Eurolines) between Vienna airport- Schwechat and Bratislava (Bus Station Mlynske Nivy). The cost of a one way fare is approx. 10 EUR. For details See: The bus stop in Vienna airport is located in front of the arrival hall (Vienna-Bratislava) and departure hall (Bratislava Vienna). For travel from Vienna airport to Bratislava it is necessary to buy ticket in the kiosk next to doors of the arrival hall. In time when it does not operate, the ticket is sold by bus driver. Tickets for travel from Bratislava to Vienna should be purchased in the hall of the bus station in Bratislava. 6 Instructions for authors The Slovak Raptor Journal publishes peer-reviewed articles on all aspects of biology of raptors and owls, e. g. original studies, reviews, short notes and other papers related to the main journal scope (e. g. project reports, reports from raptor working groups, bibliographies, etc.). The manuscripts are accepted for consideration if neither the article nor any part of its essential substance, tables, or figures has been or will be published or submitted elsewhere before appearing in the Slovak Raptor Journal. General guidelines for manuscripts Manuscripts should not be longer than 5000 words, longer papers can be published only after acceptation by editorial board. In the manuscript should be identified the person responsible for negotiations concerning the manuscript. Manuscripts One copy of the manuscript must be submitted in Slovak or English usually electronically. The text should be structured in the chapters as follows: Title, Abstract, Key words, Author s name(s) and Address(es), Acknowledgement, Introduction, Material and methods, Results, Discussion, References. Key words should not contain expressions already used in the paper title. In the first page should be indicated author to whom proofs and reprint requests should be sent. Address should include also postal codes and address. Tables should be typed neatly, each in a separate file, with title above and, if appropriate, notes below. All abbreviations should be explained. Illustrations should be submitted as clear glossy prints or as an files, with lettering large enough to be legible when reduced. In case of prints, on the back or below of each figure give the author s name and the figure number; indicate the top with an arrow. Each figure should have a separate, fully-explicit legend. All sections of the figure and all abbreviations and symbols used should be clearly defined. Figure legends should be typed on pages separate from the text, figure numbers must correspond with the order in which they are given in the text. Tables and figures should complement text and not repeat facts already used in manuscript. English bird names should follow list of names of the International Ornithologist s Union and should be written by small letters in manuscript. References Always provide all author s name of the reference. Titles of articles in other languages than English, German and French should be translated to English or should be used language of translation presented in paper s abstract and/or summary. Language of article and abstract and/or summary should be marked in citation in brackets also. If the article/book has DOI number, the author should include it in the reference. Accuracy of reference data is the responsibility of the author. Citation structure should follows examples, shown below.
