Students also directly sampled abiotic water quality variables and used this information to critically compare and contrast the value and reliability of these two methods. This assignment was performed by students with minimal supervision in small groups. At the end of the class students presented their findings and compared their results to those they found in the primary scientific literature Spring Field Ecology USD (TA): I directly facilitated and supervised ecological research projects that were designed by student groups and implemented at the South Western Research Station located in the Chiricahua desert near Portal, Arizona.
