5 0 Notdson Atlanta, Georgia TECHNICA PUB1 /CATION 5-2o - CT-12 TIME INTERVAL CONTROL Description The Nordson CT-12 Time Interval Control is a versatile, solid-state timing device for use in SWF conversions and other packaging operations requiring three channels. The CT-12 is equipped with six individual timers. (In the Break Light mode, this light will be on except in the presence of a trigger signal.) The Output light (2) indicates when output power is being switched to the gun solenoid(s). Six ten-turn potentiometers (3) control three Delay and three Duration intervals. 7 0 Nordson Trigger Installation Atlanta, Georgia TECHNICAL PUBLICATION The CT-12 will accept a solid-state current sinking input from a photodetector or proximity switch. Multiple guns or solenoids must be wired in parallel, as shown below. 8 For proper operation of the CT-12 Timer, use solenoids rated for 24Vdc only. Set the potentiometers as indicated below: Delay 1: 3 Duration 1: 3 Delay 2: 0 Duration 2: 0 Delay 3: 0 Duration 3: 0 2. Select timer interval range by following the steps below. a. Turn power off. Failure to disconnect and lockout input power to the CT-12 could result in serious electrical shock or equipment damage. b. Open the cabinet door and locate the range selection switches (see Figure 3). C. Set S8 to either Break Light or Make Light mode, depending on input trigger source. d. Set Sl, S2, S3, S4, 55 and S6 range switches to high position (5-100 ms). Each of these switches controls the range for one of the six delay or duration intervals. e. Set Channel 3 Disable switch (S7) to On for three beads or Off for two beads. If only one bead is required, set Channel 2 range switches to high position and Channel 2 pots to zero. f. Stop the line and examine the placement of the first bead to determine what adjustments are necessary (see Figure 4), To move the bead closer to the leading edge of the substrate, decrease the setting on the Delay 1 potentiometer. To move the bead further away from the leading edge, increase the setting. Figure 4. Increasing the setting increases the length of the bead, decreasing the setting shortens it. If the dial on either of the potentiometers reaches its maximum setting before the desired bead or gap length is reached, reset the range selection switch. a. Turn power off. 12 Nordson Atlanta, Georgia TECHNICAl PUBLICATION b. Open the cabinet door and set the corresponding channel range switch to the low position (100 ms-2.1-s). Adjust the placement and length of each of the remaining beads by setting the controlling delay and duration potentiometers to the same values as were established for the Delay 1 and Duration 1 potentiometers in the previous step. Increase or decrease the settings on the potentiometers as necessary to adjust the placement and length of the remaining beads. When the overall bead pattern is correct, the timer requires no further adjustment as long as line speed remains the same. The potentiometer settings must be readjusted any time line speed is changed or drifts far enough to affect bead placement significantly. ISSUED 9186 Z NORDSON CORPORATION 1986
