_ABOUT Tarek ElKassouf is a designer based between Beirut and Sydney who creates in three disciplines: Architecture, Urban Planning and Product/Furniture Design.

2 _ABOUT Tarek ElKassouf is a designer based between Beirut and Sydney who creates in three disciplines: Architecture, Urban Planning and Product/Furniture Design. His work is inspired by geometric patterns and is often spliced with futuristic parametric design. Tarek has been working as an Architect and Urban Planner since 2005; on projects that range from landmarks to developing cities. He has received many awards in international competitions in both fields. He began refining his third passion, furniture design in 2014 with the launch of The Edge series of furniture and lighting. His geometric products are considered to be functional-sculptural pieces. 6 _THE EDGE Beirut. A city constantly on the edge. Where instability, chaos and creativity merge to take the form of a city of contradictions vulnerable yet resilient and adaptable. Where residents take the trapeze artist walk on the city s fault lines as a myriad of conflicts threaten to erupt at any moment to catapult them off the edge. This series tries to capture the essence of a city living on the edge through the contradiction of solid yet malleable black steel designs. It turns the concept of the hardy steel material on its head by twisting, bending and folding it to conform to the designer s will, all the while retaining its sharp edges. These unique designs are handmade by highly skilled artisans.

24 SQUARE ONE A journey into the world s purest ornamental design that explores its hidden geometry pre-launched at: launched at:

25 _SQUARE ONE Square One explores the mystery of the one form, its repetition in harmonious complexity, that defines geometric patterns. The name for this project borrows a term from the English phrase, to go back to square one. That is, to start again. The project tries to go back to Square One in a search for the essence of patterns by proposing a three-dimensional interpretation of this tradition that results in multi-functional furniture products. Square One invites others to take this journey too and create their own designs using one or a multiple of units to make the plural singular and the singular plural. These unique designs are handmade by highly skilled artisans.
