What are the aesthetic considerations relating to style? What are the aesthetic considerations relating to colour? What are the aesthetic considerations relating to texture? What are the aesthetic considerations relating to form? How the product appeals to the senses considering size, proportion, arrangements of features for a variety of users PERFORMANCE What are the manufacturers' declarations? How well does the product meet them? How well do the various components perform? How well the product meets the manufacturer s declarations. Testing could include.
3 ERGONOMICS The way that users interact with the product in terms of performance and efficiency The way that users operate the separate functions within a product User limitations related to the product Ergonomic requirements and capabilities of target audience How efficiently the user interacts with the product. ANCILLARY FEATURES Which you include if appropriate BUILD QUALITY How does this compare with similar products? Is it determined by the target audience? How well the product appears to be "put together" at first glance and on closer inspection. ECONOMICS / COST How does this compare with existing products? How much is determined by materials? /" How much is determined by function? How much is determined by scale of production, one-off, batch, mass produced? How much it costs to purchase in relation to other functioning products. RELIABILITY Reliability of whole product Reliability of key components Product life cycle Reliability of chosen materials related to function How well does the product perform How well the product continues to function after a period of time/number of uses. SAFETY Safety features of the product in use Safety features of the product when stored Materials used to make the product in terms of safety requirements Legislative compliance British Standards ISO standards How hazardous is the product to use/store. How well the products matches perceived legislation, quality assurance e.g. BSl Kite mark SIMILAR PRODUCTS What other similar products are on the market? How do they function? Are they aimed at the same target market? What are the unique selling features of the product? How competitive is the product? Examination/scrutiny of products with similar functions and features. MAINTENANCE Are there any issues relating to cleaning the product, dust traps, etc. What features of the project are able to be repaired? ", Is it possible to have the product serviced? What is the service life? How easy the product is to clean, repair or service.
