2 Focus Innovation management as a managerial oriented discipline covers the package of activities that guarantee a smooth and rapid process of creating innovations. There are very few business functions for which a fair level of innovativeness is not important. A marketing department is highly dependent on innovative thought to generate ways to catch and hold the attention of potential customers. In production a continuous process of innovating manufacturing processes is inevitably demanded from employees. In new product development, much innovativeness is required in finding novel answers to customer s wants and needs and in discovering technical solutions to bring them into being. From small startup enterprises via medium size companies to global business giants all face the problem of managing the creation of innovations to maintain prosperity in turbulent and competitive environments. Subsequently, the joint master program Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship serves the demand of educating and enabling students to face these challenges from starting up enterprises to maintaining enterprises innovative throughout time.

3 Outline The joint master program Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship combines the two interrelated disciplines Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship into a meaningful whole. In this way the master program offers students to learn about, on the one hand, the innovation management on a strategical, tactical and operative level, and on the other hand all aspects around Entrepreneurship as innovative performance. The master program will result in two masters, one master of Business Administration (M. Sc.) from the University Twente and one master of Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship (M. Sc.) from Berlin University of Technology. Moreover, the University of Twente and Berlin University of Technology provide students with a network of aligned companies as Philips, AKZO-Nobel, Ten Cate, Siemens AG, ThyssenKrupp AG or Deutsche Telekom AG. The master of Business Administration (M. Sc.) from the University Twente encompasses 60 EC and the master of Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship (M. Sc.) from Berlin University of Technology encompasses 120 EC.

6 Entrepreneurship Research The general aim of this subject is give students a state-of-the-art overview of all streams of research around the theme entrepreneurship. The ability to combine product development, market development, and organizational development ensures the competitiveness of high-income countries and its enterprises. Up to date knowledge about how to develop all three aspects in continuously changing environments, therefore, is of vital importance. The course intends to shed light on different aspects from managing and aligning internal and external networks, all facets around founding enterprises, how to explore and develop markets, how to get and exploit creative ideas among more. The course studies both theoretical models and their empirical application, changing between micro and macroeconomic perspectives with a strong methodological focus. - Every students presents and interprets one research article - In an examination students are asked to proof their understanding of research

28 Master Thesis We want you to write your master thesis outside the university (companies, charities, public organizations etc.) so that means that supervision and the location of writing the master thesis can and most often will be different. Even if you are enrolled and supervised in Twente you still can write your thesis wherever you like (and it makes sense). You need two supervisor one from U Twente and one from TU Berlin. The Master Class will be a course in Twente You can improve your grade from Twente by making an research article out of your thesis.

29 Twente or not Twente? Yes, Twente as the oldest and most successful institution in Entrepreneurship in Europe should be obligatory. Alternatives, no and yes 8 (2) Study-Regulation you can study elsewhere as long as the subject profile is comparable and come back and write the master theses in Berlin. This is not possible at any of the Berlin Universities!!! Disadvantage; you only get the degree from Berlin. There is no possibility to stay in Berlin for four terms and get a degree.
