The emergence of the Historically, Agro-industry and textiles were the predominant industries in Tunisia. Starting from the 90 s: other manufacturing industries have developped such as :mechanics: mechanics, plastics, electrics and electronics. Currently, other sectors are growing, such as the automotive and IT sectors
In year 2000, we witnessed the first investments in the aeronautical sector, realized by : LATelec, Zodiac, Sogerma,. To 2007, this development was related some «visionary» entrepreneurs who anticipated: - the necessity, even for aeronautical industry,, to outsource a part of its industrial activities in competitive countries. - the Tunisia s ability to provide the right environment and the competences needed for such development
Thus,, let say that we have assisted softly to the the birth of an
In the end of 2007 and beginning of 2008, space and aeronautical industryies in Tunisia are represented by : - more than 30 operational companies - more than 2000 employees in the sector - Many projects on the pipe
At end of 2007 / beginning of 2008, space and aeronautical industries in Tunisia benefit from the presence of the following activities : - Studies - Tooling and precision mechanics - Sheet metal works and boiler works - Casting - Surface treatment - Aeronautic wiring - Assembly of electrical and mechanical subassemblies (small engines, pumps, seats and actuators, ) - Aeronautic maintenance - Components and electronic subassemblies - Plastic injection and moulded components - Mechanics and pilots training

Up to these terms,, conditions are gathered today for a significant development of the aeronautical industry in Tunisia
the Among the key factors for this development : - Tunisia s geographical proximity, social stability, availability of training and skills, labor cost, controled wage inflation, dynamic economy,. - testimonies of established companies in Tunisia: availability of required know how to reach excellence level needed by aeronautical and space industry, specifically in terms of quality - Necessity for the European aeronautical industry to meet cost competitiveness and maintain quality. - the will of the Tunisian government to develop the aeronautical industry
To help develop this process, GITAS has to play a major role
Tunisian Aerospace Industries Association
GITAS is a group of companies operating in different types of activities ( studies, production, training, services, maintenance, ) ) that have in common : - to be present in Tunisia - to have activities in the aeronautical sector GITAS is operating within the Tunisian-French chamber of Commerce and Industry ( CTFCI)
