(IPAC-CO2 2012) 68% claim to be well-informed about the causes yet only 59% identified CO2 as carbon dioxide and only 24% say CO2 has a very high impact on climate change. 21% say it is a water pollutant.

10 Support for oil and gas development increases with gold standard management promises 65% of Canadians agree that it is possible to increase oil and gas production while protecting the environment at the same time. 80% of Canadians agree that Canadians oil refineries should make it a priority to use Canadian oil before using oil imported from other countries, even if it means transporting oil from Western Canada across the country to refineries. (Ipos Reid 2012)

11 6: Values Canadians under 30 are losing interest in traditional national narratives. (Environics 2012) Public confidence in free market economy has declined for all Canadians from 68% in 2010 to 47% in 2012, the lowest it has been since 2002 when it was 61%. Generational set back. Only 25% believe it is possible for the next generation to be more prosperous.
