Conclusion Feedback from TPOs was majority to conduct such programs often since that helped them in understanding the gap and mitigating the same. eitra playing a role in making students Industry Ready technically as well as soft skill wise. Majority of the college have extended the hand to work in collaborative manner Further Roadmap After having a lot of discussion and analysis, now what next? From her professional experience and from the recently conducted fresher s drive in various engineering colleges, she has observed industry-academia gap and it s not only in terms of a technical ability of an individual but also culturally, handling of stress, coming out of comfort zone, understanding of delivery models, communicating with clients, a passion and a lot more. Hence the meet was organized with a purpose to discuss the various ways and means to overcome this skill gap and how to build up a good eco system across Gujarat. From einfochips Desk Mr. Dhaval Shah, employee at einfochips one of the leading Product engineering Service Company, explained how industry operates and their expectations from fresher. He beautifully explained in spite of being a semiconductor company, how company is developing various products for different domains such as Aerospace and Defence, Security+ Surveillance, Semiconductor, Consumer services, Medical Devices, Software technology, Media and Broadcast, Retail and ecommerce. 5 From eitra Desk Ms. Ekata Mehul, Head at eitra (einfochips Training and Research Academy) talked about eitra and how eitra is guiding and making students industry ready since last 2.5 years and have achieved 85-90% placement ratio till now. Organization is having various knowledge and placement partners i.e. IIT- Bombay, Cypress semiconductor, Texas instruments, DAIICT, Ganpat University etc. eitra is having a full-fledged lab and tool set up at its premises which contains kits/boards from Texas and Cypress semiconductor and expensive EDA tools from Synopsys. eitra is running various industrial courses - One is placement oriented course Skill Enhancement Program of duration 6 months and another is M.Tech level program which includes incubation and innovation along with placements. Also Faculty and student workshops used to be conducted by eitra on a regular basis to get them motivated and upgraded about advanced technologies. There are various vocational courses which eitra is planning to start i.e. PCB designing, C, Digital Electronics, Cloud computing, Robotics etc. There is one beautiful concept called JED-i (Joy of engineering, design and innovation) which talks about the unified engineering. JED-i was started by two ex- professors from IISC, Bangalore - Dr. Vinay and Dr. Swamy Manohar. eitra is really keen to bring this concept in Gujarat. It is already set up at Silver oak college of engineering in Ahmedabad. From TPO Desk TPO attendees shared their experience for not to having skilled students at a college level. Major points that came out were lacking of expert faculties, lacking of advances lab set up, lacking of updated curriculum, quality of intake, Practical/Projects quality, lacking of basic etiquettes and many more. They appreciated the initiative taken by Ms. Ekata Mehul to mitigate all these issues through the formation of eitra. She quoted one beautiful statement on their concern that A is always greater than R., which states that if Aspiration is there, do not complaint about Resources. Page 5 of 5
