Diverse redundant microprocessor design provides safe, control-reliable operation. A BeamSafe system consists of one transmitter and one receiver. No interconnecting cables or separate control are required. Mounted on the receiver, four separate visible indicators provide instant information on system clear, blocked or interlocked status as well as signal strength. Output options include redundant solid-state or force-guided relays located in the receiver. When ordering, it is necessary to specify model numbers for transmitter, receiver and enclosure(s). Immunity to weld flash and ambient light are enhanced by coding the infrared beam. This feature also eliminates interference from other BeamSafe units installed in close proximity. Only use the BeamSafe on machinery that stops consistently and immediately anywhere in its cycle or stroke. Never use a BeamSafe on a full-revolution clutched press or machine. The BeamSafe is a single optical beam, not a curtain of light. Therefore it is not designed for use as a point-of-operation device. If one or more BeamSafe systems do not protect all access to the hazardous machine area, the unprotected access must be guarded by fencing, barriers or other appropriate methods. The purchaser, installer and employer are responsible for meeting all appropriate laws, rules and regulations relating to the proper use, installation, operation and maintenance of this control and the guarded machine. All application examples described are for illustration purposes only. Actual installation will differ from those indicated. Installation Notes Because explosion-proof housings offer a smaller range of adjustment than standard STI mounting brackets, the installation and alignment of transmitters and receivers is a process requiring attention to detail. The mounting hardware of the BeamSafe II transmitter and receiver inside the enclosures has adjustment screws which allow a small amount of rotational adjustment. Transmitter and eceiver Cable Warning Transmitter and receiver cables are not supplied with the BeamSafe system. Wiring the transmitter and receiver must be done in accordance with all local, state and federal government laws, rules, codes or regulations relating to the proper use, installation and operation of this control and the guarded machine. Hybrid Systems An application may exist where it is not necessary for the entire single beam system to be in the hazardous area. In this case, order only one explosion-proof enclosure.
