Engineering Driven Design 3D perception s answer to the complex and challenging demands of the simulator industry is ndesigner, our engineering tool we use for simulation theater specification and design. Aurora Auto-Aligning, Instrumented Smart Screens Using embedded WarpSync and ChromaSync sensors, Aurora smart screens detect the alignment of projector images, communicate with nbox, and automatically make precision adjustments to geometry, edge blending, color, and intensity. Screen Options Aurora screens are available for most any size and shape requirements, and custom screens can be made as needed. Screens can be configured at any horizontal and vertical field of view, up to complete dome display systems. Existing systems can be retrofitted with Aurora instrumentation for use with the Northstar ecosystem. WarpSync sensor clusters embedded within screen detect alignment patterns for precsion automatic warping and blending. One edge-mounted ChromaSync sensor per projector measures and automatically calibrates channel color and intensity.

StarScan Automatic Image Alignment Scanner For Northstar systems where screen-mounted sensors are impractical, soft-screens, collimated theaters, or for display upgrades, StarScan is the ideal solution for precision automatic image alignment. A true 3D solution for a 3D problem, StarScan provides detailed measurement of display system geometry using high precision gimbal pointing, and laser rangefinding. StarScan measures both the exact 3D screen geometry and the projected image geometry, resulting in the industry s most accurate warp and blend down to 1 arc minute. StarScan devices can be mounted virtually anywhere in the display system and can automatically align itself using reference points on the screen, enabling repeatable, high accuracy performance, even from off-center locations. ncontrol Display System Management User Interface Most simulation applications have high-level requirements for image quality, stability and consistency. Frequent brightness and color adjustments are required in most simulators and projection theaters have to be regularly realigned, especially after lamp replacement or maintenance. ncontrol is an intuitive, user-friendly graphical interface for control and maintenance and allows the user to approach the display as an integrated system, not as discrete components. ncontrol is responsible for maintaining a consistently pixel-perfect image, and in concert with nbox and Aurora or StarScan, it automatically performs geometry adjustment, edge blending, color balancing, and gamma correction. With a push of a button, it automates maintenance procedures and will readjust the system s image in seconds. ncontrol can be directly operated or interfaced with the user s IG for automatic changes between training profiles like from daytime training to NVG training. Northstar Simulation Certified Projectors 3D perception products are projectorindependent. This allows us, our partners, and our customers to retain the benefits of a rapidly advancing feature set available in the professional projector marketplace. Not every commercially available projector should be used in a real-time, long service life, deterministic environment. This is why 3DP developed the Northstar Simulation Certified program to indicate to our customers the specific projectors that pass our qualification of fit for use in professional simulation environments and are fully interoperable and seamlessly managed within 3DP s Northstar ecosystem. Simulator systems have an array of differing projection requirements. Needs may be high resolution, low latency, or extreme contrast; no single projector technology today meets all the requirements, so in most cases the chosen technology is a compromise. Other factors such as light output, night vision goggle suitability, weight, size, ruggedness and cost are important to consider. 3D perception provides and integrates a variety of professional projectors from several manufacturers. We offer options for one or three-chip DLP and LCoS technologies, UHP and LED illumination, along with a wide range of lenses, modules, mounts, and accessories. We customize projection solutions based on application needs. Dynamic Optical Blenders 3D perception s Dynamic Optical Blenders provide precision edge blending for night and night vision goggle (NVG) training, without compromising image quality. Optical blending does not sacrifice contrast for black level uniformity, and the servo-controlled optical blends can gradually take effect during day-to-night transitions. During run-time, blenders receive time- of-day cues from Northstar s ncontrol advanced scenario management software, which enables seamless transitions from pure electronic blends during daytime scenarios, through hybrid electronic/optical blends during dusk/dawn, to optical-only blends for night scenes.
