Scopis Hybrid Navigation with Augmented Reality Intelligent navigation systems for head surgery www.scopis.com

Scopis Hybrid Navigation One System. Optical and electromagnetic measurement technology. As the first interdisciplinary navigation platform the Scopis Hybrid Navigation unifies optical and electromagnetic measurement technologies in one system. In this way the Scopis Hybrid Navigation system enables surgeons to decide on the basis of indications which technology suits the particular procedure better and gives it the best possible support. It is possible to use both technologies in the course of one procedure. Both the optical and the electromagnetic technologies offer continuous endoscope navigation with the special Augmented Reality function. This makes planning data directly visible on the endoscope image. A special landing and alarm system (ILS) ensures safe and quick navigation to anatomic targets during both before and during operations. Deviations from the path and approaches to critical anatomic structures are signaled acoustically and visually. Combination of optical and electromagnetic measurement technology Switch of technology as required during operation Interdisciplinary use in ENT, CMF and neurosurgery Augmented Reality function visualizes planning data on the endoscope image Compared to conventional navigation systems Scopis with the Hybrid Navigation System and Augmented Reality offers new concepts and solutions for existing clinical problems. 1

Compact Due to its compact construction, the system can be integrated simply into all common towers and is therefore ready for use at any time even in confined spaces. Compatible Whether connecting to existing equipment or evaluating radiological data the system is equipped for all fields of application. Intuitive The simply designed menu navigation enables even new users to operate the system safely and comfortably. Innovative With the NOVA Augmented Reality (AR) navigation software for the first time you receive supportive graphic overlays on the real endoscope image. In addition, patented instrument clamps and adapters allow you to navigate your own instruments and the endoscope. And the flexible electromagnetic instruments offer the best possible handling for rapid interventions. Safe Continuous recording using videos and screenshots provides ideal support for documentation. Scopis Hybrid Navigation 2

Optical tracking Highest precision. Large measurement range. Universal adapter system. Pointer 45 Endoscope navigation Drill and shaver Highest precision Based on the technology of NDI Digital the optical tracking off the highest precision of measurement in the range from 0.3 to 0.5 mm. The results are significantly more reliable than with electromagnetic tracking. Additional advantages are low susceptibility to interference and low costs for consumables Large measurement range The optical tracking is characterized by its large range of measurement which makes it possible to position the camera at a distance of up to two meters. As a result its placement becomes flexible for all cranial areas of operation and work methods such as endoscopy and microscopy. When setting up operations the optical scanning system is easy to integrate and manage. Universal adapter system Optical trackers can be attached to conventional instruments by means of special fixtures. Instruments already in place such as suction tubes, chisels or Blakesley forceps can therefore be used comfortably for navigation. The patented adapter system is not only suitable for passive instruments but also for active ones such as shavers and drills. 3 Universal adapter system for conventional instruments

Electromagnetic tracking Extremely easy to use. Flexible instruments. Intuitive workflow. Extremely easy to use The slim design of the instruments offers complete freedom of operation: In contrast to optical tracking there is no danger that the instruments will obscure or obstruct one another. As a result of the integration of the field generator on the headrest the electromagnetic tracking system requires only minimal space. Flexible instruments The instruments of the electromagnetic tracking system are made of a specially developed, highly flexible material. High-precision sensors in the tips of the instruments make it possible to bend them into shape as required. It is therefore possible to cover a wide range of operational scenarios with an economical number of instruments. navigated sunction tube Pointer Intuitive workflow The number of operational and preparatory steps has been consistently reduced to a minimum and represents the best possible solution for use in surgery at short notice. The system is operational in less than 5 minutes, which provides support for you particularly in the case of urgent applications. Patient Tracker EM 4

Planning station and Augmented Reality Future-proof. Ground-breaking. For more challenging operations or also for training purposes it is sensible to be able to plan the intervention before the operation. The Scopis external planning station enables you to do so outside the operating theater at your work station. By means of a network connection to radiology or other departments it is also possible to access external data quickly. Tumor segmentation (3D) In addition to simply setting planning points and paths a wide range of planning functions is available particularly for use in CMF surgery. With the aid of the unique segmentation tool 3D bone structures can me marked and isolated quickly and easily. Existing structures can be used by means of mirroring on the symmetry level for planning reconstruction measures. For the creation of patient-specific implants the software offers an export option. 5 Symmetry plane

Scopis Navigation in use in microscopy surgery With the Augmented Reality (AR) software module Scopis offers for the first time the possibility of overlaying marked anatomical structures directly on the endoscope image during surgery. Here both individual points and 3D objects (e.g. tumors) can be marked. In addition, surgical approaches can be defined as planning paths. By overlaying this additional information into the endoscopic image the orientation in the situs is facilitated and safety is increased. The extensive recording options not only take account of documentation requirements but can also be used superbly for training and qualification purposes. Navigation in the endoscopic image Distance display and alarm functions Diverse documentation options Extensive planning functions Videos and screenshots in HD Rapid segmentation Fusion of MRT and CT Export of implant templates NOVA PLAN external planning station 6

Optimized clinical workflow Fast. Flexible. Intuitive. Support of all current storage media (CD, USB, DVD) Network connection Import of data in less than 60s Automatic selection of usable data Choice of three types of registration Patient registration in less than 90s In order to avoid disruption of efficient workflow in the operating theater the shortest possible preparation time for the use of navigation is essential. From importation of data via the preparation of patient and instruments to patient registration as little time should elapse as possible. Scopis Hybrid Navigation ensures this through intelligent algorithms, intuitive operation and simple handling. Workflow in 4 steps 7 1 Loading image data 2 Selecting registration type and planning

Scopis Navigation in use in CMF surgery With the unique combination of both measurement technologies in one device you can now decide during the operation whether you want to navigate optically or electromagnetically. An indication-based switch between the two procedures is also possible during the operation with minimum effort. With the new Scopis hybrid generation there is no need to commit to one technology at the time of purchase. You use the advantages of both systems in one device. Optical tracking Highest precision Special endoscope tracker Navigation of conventional and active instruments Electromagnetic tracking Simple handling Flexible instruments Rapid deployment 3 Performing patient registration 4 Navigation 8

Automatic zoom reconstructions to a resolution of 0.1 mm Fourfold resolution of petrous part of temporal bone CBCT-optimized clinical navigation Highest resolution. Optimized procedures. Maximum comfort. Optimized zoom reconstructions for lateral skull base interventions Support of high-resolution CBCT reconstructions to a resolution of 0.1 mm Automatic fusion of several reconstructions plus CT and MRI scans Lower radiation exposure with the highest precision PACS connection with search function Compatibility with CBCTs on the basis of DICOM 3.0 (e.g. multi-slice) Scopis navigation systems are specially adapted for the latest generation of cone beam computer tomographs and support resolutions of 0.1 mm ensuring the visibility of the finest structures. Using optimized interfaces between CBCT and navigation the navigated procedure is simple and convenient. In particular, zoom and scout reconstructions can be combined automatically. Using optimized HUcalibration it is possible to use CBCT scans even for patient registration using surface matching. Integrated documentation 9 Comparison of normal and high-resolution data

Upgrade options Interdisciplinary navigation platform for neuro-, ENT and CMF surgery Neurosurgery In addition to Augmented Reality, its unique feature worldwide, Scopis offers many additional functions and modules for use in minimally invasive cranial neurosurgery: Mayfield adapters for referen-cing the patient, neurosurgical inline displays, advanced tumor segmentation for invasive interventions, trajectory planning and an instrument landing system.
