Barnes is a cartoonist, illustrator, animator, and writer living and working in Cambridge, MA. Her gag cartoons have appeared in Funny Times, Fortean Times, The Journal of Irreproducible Results, and Polite Company Magazine. Her sequential art has appeared in numerous anthologies, including The Greatest of All Time Comic Anthology (Ninth Art Press) and Colonial Comics: New England, 1620-1750 (Fulcrum). Her short animated film, Leatherwing Bat, has shown at numerous film festivals in the USA and elsewhere. Her full-length comics are self-published through her Drowned Town Press imprint. Barnes self describes as a Marginal, part of the Marginal Scene. - Page 3-
Collection Overview This collection contains eight comic books written by E. J. Barnes and published by Drowned Town Press, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The subjects and artwork vary considerably from comic to comic. The Ling Master Series is the authorized adaptation of stories by Blaster Al Ackerman (1939-2013), an American mail artist. A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to Bed is Jonathan Swift's poem, illustrated in scratchboard. Me & Doctor Dee, about Elizabethan England, and Caroline's Catalog, about an 18th Century woman astronomer, are historical comics. Birds of the Baltic is a personal recollection of a vacation Barnes took and Holly, Ivy, and Roasted Chestnuts is a compilation of holiday songs.
